I just "finished" the DLC story. Seeing everyone there while fighting Death filled me with so much joy i teared up

The ending of this DLC... one of the best endings of all time, without exaggerating. Very emotional, very rewarding, and then it turns out, this is just the beginning. The DLC is huge. And wonderful.
i grew up with Castlevania. my mom bought an NES while she was pregnant to pass the time, and one of the games she bought to go with it was Castlevania II. some of my earliest memories with video games are horrible nights, falling into the river in towns, and painstaking password inputs. i remember learning about emulators to play Castlevania IV, then Rondo of Blood. i remember sitting in the local card game store between rounds, borrowing the judge's GBA to try Aria of Sorrow, and him taking it away from me because i was too absorbed to hear him start the next one. i remember later selling all those cards to buy a DS for Dawn of Sorrow, and then Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia making it one of the best purchases of my life. i remember thinking that this was what video games were all about, and being so excited by the idea of how they could possibly improve from here, and then... .. well. it took 15 years to get here, and not in the way i expected.. but thanks for letting me feel all of that again. this game was a love letter in the first place - but with OtC, you can *really* see how deep that love goes. thanks, Luca - and thanks everyone else who made this happen. what you've done here really is what video games are all about.
I can’t exactly explain it, but this whole scene, even as someone whose only seen castlevania and never actually played any (yet) made me actually tear up some. It’s a love letter, and it’s so easy to see even if you don’t know anything about the series. The compassion, the care put into detail, the homage to all that it is. In this age of gaming it feels like there isn’t as much love in the series as there once was, the compassionate are often pushed out to make room for profit and what’s “necessary” to make money. It genuinely makes my heart skip a beat to see that this level of love still exist.
I'm in the same boat as you. I watched the show and loved it, but beyond that never really played any of the games. This whole ending sequence had me so HYPE that my wife quit what she was doing to watch... She loves Castlevania, but isn't into VS. Seeing the entire Castlevania cast jump in to help had HER cheering too while gushing over the kickass remix playing.
The cut scene at the end of the game. The emotion the music gave. I had more fun with this and its story/non story than I had with any Triple A Game in the past year and change. This game made me shed actual tears with its music, the waves of nostalgia , and through laughter of the insanity of what I was watching and was happy to see. This was an amazing journey, and its one I am making twice as I have been playing it on the phone when I can't play on the PC! Thank you Poncle. Thank you for this masterpiece of how a simple game that started with a handful of survivors, a director, and a dream.
It's such a heartwarming reunion! These are all characters (friends, I might say) that I have known for 30+ years. And every single one is back, richer than ever. Even the ones I might have forgotten, and old favorites I thought might have forgotten me. I LOVE their characterization in this artwork.
1:26 The Directer: "Oh, you didn't think *that* was it, did you? There's still plenty left." [Offers hand] "Let me show you. After all..." [Cue montage of the second set of 20 characters plus a few of the Pile of Secrets characters] "...the vampire is still in another coffin."
A TWIST OF FATE, CHANNELED IN DARKNESS A HAUNTING WILL FORGED IN FURY A CASTLE IN TIME, A VAMPIRE'S PARADISE IF YOU WILL JUST TAKE MY HAND (muffled DIE MONSTER, YOU DON'T BELONG IN THIS WORLD)
Seeing a lot of Curse of Darkness talk in the comments. Thought I’d drop a little anecdote. So. I’ve been doing several run a night in VS. trying to met the requirements to unlock new characters and weapons and trying to evolve them if I haven’t already. Well, last night was Hector’s turn. And hearing the Abandoned Castle theme made me so nostalgic for the game I put so many hours into but didn’t finish, once cleared the stage, I fished out my old PS2, cleaned it up a bit and grabbed Curse of Darkness and played it up until midnight. Which kind of sucks because I had to be at work at five in the morning. But you know what? While I’m tired as hell right now, I don’t regret it one bit. Probably going to do the same thing tonight too. Don’t remember where this song is or if I had even gotten to it last time, hopefully this time I came beat the game.
What an ending. Dracula calls it quits, helps Richter along every other hero stop Death, and... Lisa and Sara (thanks for the correction!) have returned, ending the sorrow that have plagued both families.
Elizabeth Bartley was the one who revived Dracula in Bloodlines. You're probably thinking of Sara, who was Leon's love interest in Lament of Innocence.
I don't often have a strong emotional response to any piece of music. I genuinely could not remember the last time I got chills from a song. Then 2:20 happened.
In 29 years of my existence there was only 2 games that made me cry, Final Fantasy X and Undertale... But during and after the Death boss fight with Richter in Ode to Castlevania... Now there's 3 games that made me cry.
Y'all actually made me cry with this one. Getting though that amazing final sequence to hear one of my favorite CoD tracks used as the credits theme, that compilation of extra characters, and then the sequence in which they're added to the character select menu to the tempo of the song... I'm really never gonna stop playing this game at this rate. What do they say again? Praise the Code?
I have been very happy with the offerings, but was hoping Keygen would get a chance to cover Garibaldi Temple, my favorite of the CoD OST. Still got Abandoned Castle, Eneomoas Machine Tower, and Sarabande of Healing, so I suppose there is a silver lining.
Oh now i see why they held off releasing the two specific track. Thank you for the dlc. Where's my adventure remix Poncle? I want my battle of the holy.
no only this is a great DLC but now is definetely one of my most loved games in my whole life. The amount of love, support and dedication Poncle put in this game is unmeasurable. Thank you so much.
man. when this played during the credits scene it moved me in a way i wasnt expecting, the combination of the credits scene playing and this song in the back actually made me tear up a bit, i think the last time i cried tears of joy at all was when Simon got announced for Smash Ultimate. Thank you, poncle, for making this grown woman cry of happiness again for the first time in six years.
I've been waiting for an upload of this arrangement since I first heard it in the game and almost made me cry lol, I love Curse of Darkness and Sarabande of Healing is one of my favorite CV tracks so it's really cool to see it done justice by Keygen Church. Me and many other Castlevania fans appreciate and are thankful for all the work you guys put in this DLC. This truly is an Ode to Castlevania.
I'll just say it, probably one of the greatest staff rolls/epilogues I've ever witnessed. As you fight your way through the DLC, thinking Richter was the finishing line. The game pulls a 180 and shows you that you're only about a quarter of the way there. And that final part where the game takes you back to the character select to show everyone off, only to end on the Count himself. Incredible.
I know I'm selfish for wanting that one last character, but I was hoping to see Aeon from Judgement here as like, one of the only people who like him... but knowing the Judgement remix of Mad Forest to play in Mad Forest is fantastic. I cannot be upset at just how *good* the rest of this roster is like holy shit, deep cuts galore, major refs, main and side characters alike, it's all just...*incredible.* Best coffee I never drank.
⚠️ SPOILER WARNING ⚠️ _Antonio's Notes on Interdimensional Allies: Vlad Țepeș Dracula & Death_ I... I am at a loss for words. I know we've killed Reapers time and time again at this point, but there's something about defeating Death ITSELF, the only thing so far that's been able to flat out put even _The Directer_ temporarily out of commission, that just feels... surreal. Either way, looks like we've got ourselves a VERY LITERAL Vampire Survivor now. Julius and Alucard aren't exactly thrilled, but they're willing to endure the guy if he promises to behave himself. Can't wait to see Bisconte Draculò's face when he sees THE original vampire in the... err, flesh? As if THAT wasn't enough, Death (at least, what I can assume was the real Death) got outta the rubble and tried to elope us all, and he probably would've if Dracula didn't spot him. He even scolded Death (Death itself!) like a kid throwing a tantrum, which is how he later explained the whole thing to us, mind you. Even had him half-heartedly apologize. I didn't think Death was too thrilled to have Dracula on the side of good... but then he suddenly changed his mind and joined us anyway when we started talking about the Reapers to his master. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then I don't think he's TOO flattered about having blasphemous mockeries out and about in the multiverse. Anyway, looks like we're TRULY guests in Dracula's Castle now, 'cause a whole new part of the place just opened up. Wonder what we'll find in there. Treasures beyond our wildest imagination? More new allies to recruit? Even MORE of the delectable Wall Chicken this world specializes in? Who knows.
The director was never out of commission (or atleast I believe) the director is the void itself or has a true form from its dark entries. Death is not above the void.
Still, even if it didn't kill The Directer, Death WAS strong enough to at least temporarily destroy their physical form and prevent them from directly intervening. Death is not above the void, granted, but it is above life nonetheless. Also, I didn't really start this, I'm just hopping on the bandwagon.
When this played the first time my tear glands swelled up hard. When it played again after I got a certain someone, they teared up even harder. Amazing dlc. Amazing team. Excellent job poncle😢
Castlevania was there for me when I was growing up and stayed with me for so long. I've played all of them even after they were so long forgotten, and now with this DLC it feels like it's back. When the "indie ripoff" produces more love and respect than any of the actual creators have in the past years. Thanks for making my year with this absolutely incredible love letter of a DLC.
Don't talk shit about the creators of Castlevania, the creation of Bloodstained alone proves they still want to make these games. It's the Konami executives and CEOs that mooch off the games without giving the series a new entry.
@HyperfixationWizard The creators of current Castlevania are ass and that's why you said bloodstained. We all know bloodstained is great and Iga still can make amazing castlevania games but Konami is ass.
This dlc is a masterpiece, as a fan of Castlevania, I am so so so happy! Thank you so much Poncle for having done this! Thank you Konami! THANK YOU!!!!!
As a long time fan of thd Castlevania games and lore aficionado, this hit perfectly snd made me emotional af. Thank you for doing more for the franchise than Konami.
I was so sad when I couldn't find this song when the other tracks dropped, but I am glad for the wait. When those credits rolled after the big fight with Death, I felt things that a game hasn't made me feel in a LONG time. And then the rushing sequence towards the Director's hand and the character showcase with the music??? Absolutely S tier. I didn't think a bullet heaven game about cheese puns and Castlevania references could do this to me, but here we are.
5 months ago I finished playing Sotn and I was mesmerized by all the beauty and inspiration it give to new games. even if this was the only Castlevania I've played. the amount of detail in this dlc just can't do justice to the word "Ode to castlevania" but an ode to games.
I'm not an expert, but I believe they cannot due to licensing issues. Even though they created original versions of all the music, it was all originally composed by other people for Contra/Castlevania. I would guess that Konami can give Poncle permission to remix it and include it *as part of a game* (as the original contract would have been for a game soundtrack), but not to sell it separately - or make any money off of it at all, hence why these videos do not have ads. To release them separately from the game, they would need to get permission from each and every one of the original composers for every song used in Operation Guns and Ode. Which is not impossible, but it is a bit of an undertaking. So I'm not going to hold my breath, but I am also hoping to see an OST release. I would shell out quite a bit to have these tracks as FLAC files.
@Zerphses Poncle already got the license and approval from Konami (who owns the songs), otherwise they wouldn't have developed and released the remixes in the games. If they didn't, we wouldn't be jamming to Bloody Tears for 30 minutes. Either the contract has already been made in advance should an OST be released, or they're working on a contract for the OST release. Either way, companies' actions are dictated by consumers' interest. That is why I made a comment post requesting for an OST, as I would like to show further support for VS and Castlevania license. But hey, time will tell if they release the dlc OST or not.
What I don't understand is that Motion Twin also had a Castlevania DLC for Dead Cells and the soundtrack is available on Steam and streaming services, so why couldn't they?
It's funny how this game started as a bunch of castlevania knock off characters and here we are now. NGL I never overdosed on vampire survivors like many people did, but most games lately with castlevania DLC do not disappoint. So I booted this back up after not touching it for a while with a lot of DLC to get through and MY GOD! The amount of love in this dlc is something I normally only see in fan projects. I know they worked with actual konami staff to make this, but it's like they're indirectly saying "wtf are you doing konami letting a series with so much history and potential die?!" If we never get a big budget Castlevania frankly I'd be happy with this, rereleases of the whole series and maybe another crack at a harmony of despair like game? just for one final hurrah?
Did you find bestiary 287? I've already done everything, unlocked everything but that's all I'm missing (I have a mobile, tablet, and I think it's bugged, I can't find 287 in the bestiary)
Is it normal that Luminaire Foscari doesnt appear in the battle againt Je-Ne-Viv using Eleanor anymore? Is it a glitch or was removed? Because was a good detail and added some lore to the DLC.
I am the Wind is one of the most hated Castlevania songs so I doubt it lol, to the point they replaced it in future versions of SotN. Surprised to see someone ask for it.
It's 'The Directer' showing you why the game is Vampire Survivors and not something else. The things you collect are the inspirations to why the game is what it is. That's why the title of the DLC is 'Ode to Castlevania'. It's referential in more ways than one.
Quincy Morris being a character is nuts. Dude didn't have so much as one piece of official art, and now he's playable in Vampire Survivors. Hats off.
And now it makes me want a CV game that fully embraces its ties to the Bram Stoker novel and Vania’s up the story and characters to tie things better.
There's some real irony in this since (spoilers for ~120 year old book)...

this being the big standout track for me of the entire dlc soundtrack is still so much honestly. just really not what i expected at all.
Celia looks so happy next to Isaac.
The ending did not need to go so damn hard. 😭 Bravo 👏
Bro i'm not even ashamed to say that when this hit at the end of the DLC I got misty eyeed. It hit so hard. Love this game so much.
Keygen Church has been cooking so much, they should open a restaurant
Will your Ode to Castlevania OST be released as a digital album? I would pay for it to listen to while I work.
I really hope it gets released on the Steam soundtrack. The last update to the soundtrack was Emergency Meeting
@@Zerphsesaren’t they making money off of it already due to being paid DLC? Or is Konami getting a 100% royalty?
I wish Konami still made 2d sprite Castlevanias.
I know they worked with actual konami staff to make this, but it's like they're indirectly saying "wtf are you doing konami letting a series with so much history and potential die?!"
If we never get a big budget Castlevania frankly I'd be happy with this, rereleases of the whole series and maybe another crack at a harmony of despair like game? just for one final hurrah?
It's okay that it's over, because it got to end like this.
Sayonara, Castlevania.
PLEASE ADD THIS PLAYLIST ON SPOTIFYYY 😭😭😭
Finally, the tracklist is complete!
amazing game. genuinely. thank you.
i guess it really was an Ode to Castlevania

Is it normal that Luminaire Foscari doesnt appear in the battle againt Je-Ne-Viv using Eleanor anymore?
Is it a glitch or was removed? Because was a good detail and added some lore to the DLC.
Playing the game is surreal lol

Guys please where do I buy these tracks
Everyone is here… except Hugh :(. Awesome track though
牛逼
This was cool, but I still want a remix of "I am the Wind"
😂
It would be so freaking funny if they had Keygen Church cover that one
I am the Wind is one of the most hated Castlevania songs so I doubt it lol, to the point they replaced it in future versions of SotN. Surprised to see someone ask for it.
@@LZ02-OVERTURE U talking shit about I am the wind?
Will all of this come to the music tracks on steam?
When will we be given fully online global multiplayer????
Poncle, I'm begging, let me buy these songs.
i need more liturgical hard rock in my video games 😭😭 ultrakill and vampire survivors knows wtf is up
Please more dlc more music
How about a crossover with a Helltaker? It will sell a lot, that's for sure.
Will this be coming to Apple Music and Spotify?
Who is bestiary number 287? Mine is bugged, I can't find it and I've played the Castlevania map several times
it's probably either Beelzebub or Granfaloon/Legion, they both haven't been showing up for me despite killing them multiple times
I’m confused about the ending.
Is the Directer actually dead? Did we revive it? Or was the whole thing just another performance?
I think that just temporarily disrupted his current avatar, as he appears after the credits!
It's 'The Directer' showing you why the game is Vampire Survivors and not something else.
The things you collect are the inspirations to why the game is what it is.
That's why the title of the DLC is 'Ode to Castlevania'.
It's referential in more ways than one.
Poncle trying not to cook challenge (Level: Impossible!) 🧄
Also, praise the code! 🧛
