    Ari’s value:
    1. 5 minutes of advice is considered a birthday gift.

    3. Never asks what the idea is.

IT was great that Ari was a bombarding him with all those questions, it was a test to open Turtle's eyes and realize it's far more challenging that he thought. But then when Ari becomes sincere sitting down with Turtle, in a fatherly nature, that was also very helpful.

01:40 - 0:153 One of the rare moments where Ari isn't making fun of Loyd, but putting him on a pedestal of respect, making a positive example of him. It's awesome to watch given Loyd is a sensitive guy that works very diligently and deals with a lot.

Ari is a classic character! This is one of his best scenes. The audience is allowed inside his mind and heart to see how he thinks and feels. Truly! The bravado is hilarious but the moments where he drops his guard are the most touching. He deeply cares about those in his life and is relentless to show that affection. Turtle had the best arc of the show. Started off as a loyal loser with no respect for himself or others. He started working, tried different things, guy a degree, struggled, fell on his ass, and came out a millionaire. In season one, Turtle hit on the airline stewardess' with crude jokes. In his last scene in the show, he shakes hands with the airline stewardess, greeting as mature equals, before boarding. He grew up, but his loyalty never wavered

Due to all the unveiling of the D-baggery that is Hollywood in the 10 years or so. This show has really aged poorly. People on both sides of the political isle have cause to despise the characters in this show. That said, I like many others loved this show during its original run. However, this entire Turtle arch was out of touch and poorly written.
I do believe they where trying to make Turtle the every man of the group, but instead he came across as petty and entitled. All the things Ari mentioned here are true. Turtle had no plan, no concept of a day to day grind work ethic, only a sense of inadequacy among his peers for inspiration. However, unlike young and new entrepreneurs Turtle had no life stress. Turtle was living in a mansion rent free, he did not have to pay for auto insurance, internet bills, groceries or any other life expenses. Above else he had a massive safety net in the case of failure, something 95% of entrepreneurs do not have. I hated this arch and while Turtle was never my favorite character. I never disliked him either, during this arch I despised his character.

People can say what they want about Turtle, but he really grew as a character the last 3 seasons of the show. Whether you think it's realistic or not, he showed great characters and maturity and realizing he wanted to have more in life than just being a gopher. This was the start of it. And I like how it wasn't just rags to riches over night. He had some pitfalls along the way. He started the car service and that went down the tubes, tried putting together the restaurant, didnt' work out. THen the Avion deal and finally he made good (with the help Vince of course but in real life it's now always what you know but who you know). But he definately went through his hardships and paid his dues in the end as Ari talks about here.

I really like Ari when he says he would give his son everything because its his son. He's such a good dad, and trying to be a better one. I wish my dad would have helped me when I needed it.

Harrison Richards Please. Even the most exotic sports car loses value once it's driven off the lot. Collateral has to be an asset, not a liability.

Of course they lose value, but that doesn't mean that they don't *hold* any value.

I don’t need loans and I never will.
I’m just saying that cars hold value.
Turtle’s quarter million dollar car will have let’s say a collateral of only $10K, but it still has value to the bank.

Ari Gold has to be one of the funniest characters ever written in TV and Movie history. I've never laughed so much while watching something in my life. Jeremy Piven was perfect. Literally fit like Steve Carell as Michael Scott. Or Rainn Wilson as Dwight. Bryan Cranston as Walter White. I could go on and on but those are examples that first come to mind when I think of characters that no other actors could have played.

Turtles considered a loser yet I would take his life over a "winner" who makes 80 grand with a shitty house and a family. It's all about who u know in life. Vinny doesn't have to be friends with Turtle.

    • @ajas90
      @ajas90 2 роки тому

You would rather be a parasite shamelessly living off someone else’s money rather than earn your living? The guy with 80 grand, a shitty house, and a family at the very least can develop his career with more years of experience. I think you ought to watch the clip again; Turtle got to the point that he’d rather be the guy earning 80 grand.

For a show that had a lot of fluff and absolute bogus writing from time to time, there’s some fantastic scenes like this that really are genuinely well done and hit you in the heart. Ari’s advice is raw, a bit harsh but so true

testing him -- go back to the easy life, just enjoy being vince's friend. say no to "paying your dues." turtle immediately says that he can do this. he believes in himself and that's why ari encourages him: come back to me when you can prove it.

Re watched this episode. Turtle was called a loser by his mom, made fun of by 50 cent, vince and his gf gave him cars. He was depressed. He expected ari to give him what he wanted but ari gave him what he needed. Not a handout but a purpose. Let him know to work on what he wants and not ask for a handout. After this turtle became a more developed character with a great work ethic

  • @alexh8613

Actually, while Turtle's hat collection may not be worth that much. His sneaker collection would easily be enough collateral for a bank loan. Hell, if he were to sell them, he probably wouldn't even need the loan. Granted Vince is the one that paid for them all.
