I’m so nervous because I’m currently studying psychology in college and it’s my favourite subject and have also applied to unis with a psychology degree but I’m starting to second guess because other UA-cam videos have talked about how it’s underpaid and takes a long time to get a good career.
Hey did you all figure out what to do? I've learnt that a BA is better to do. Because you can get a job that's better than if you do a BS in Psychology. And well you need a Master's to be a therapist.
I love your sweater. Anyways, I agree with your video. But I would like to add a few points for some people who would like to get a psychology degree. A psychology degree is very flexible, one of the most flexible degrees there are out there because it can be one of the most people-oriented degrees out there. Some seniors think that once you've grad you're gonna have to do your Masters or Ph.D. to start having a lucrative career but that is simply half of the story and not true. Your options are quite wide whether you want to work in charity, Human Resources, becoming a professional trainer, doing business, or even just working at a stocks exchange (no joke, some of my seniors are making thousands the moment they graduate). Any job requiring human communication you'd likely accel in thanks to the experience you'd garnered during your degree. The downside of a psychology degree, in my opinion, is that you'll be doing a lot of maths. What I mean by this is statistical maths. And why I noted this as a downside is that most new students don't know that they'll be doing a lot of statistical maths and research. So you'll need to brush up on your mathematics if you're not good at maths (like I was lol). Overall I'm currently in my final year, and unlike my friends in the field, I am motivated to pursue a Masters so I may work as an IO Psychologist. But even if I decided to stop at just the degree, I'll still have loads of options to choose from, as long as I don't limit myself to the stereotypical thinking of "we belong working in a mental hospital" which is quite a common stereotype from where I'm from.
Thnx, this was so helpful even tho I’m just 13yro...😘🙃ur so right about the stereotypes cuz I asked lots of ppl and their reaction would mostly be exactly that..
Hi this was really helpful and I have seen your comments in some other videos I’m currently in year 13 thinking of taking psychology with neuroscience is there anyway I could contact and ask a few questions if you don’t mind .
This speaks to me so much! As a fellow brown girl, getting into the mental health field is so important. Good luck on your journey. I think sometimes the path can be hard, but I don't think it necessarily needs to be. I graduated 4 years ago from my psychology undergraduate, and I got onto a masters 2 years later than qualifies me as a mental health professional at the same banding as a clinical psychologist (for background I'm 26 and a qualified and accredited band 7 CBT therapist). Obviously eventually I will want to move to a higher band, and will do a doctorate but I think there's so many similar roles to a clinical psychologist to consider. I also never got an assistant psychologist role so I ended up doing a masters out of pure frustration of not progressing in my career. I made a video on my career journey (on my channel) and I hope it could be potentially useful in knowing your next steps. I hope it helps, because we really do need more BAME mental health professionals
I sincerely hope you realize that a BA (BS) in Psychology is worthless in terms of getting a job. Even worse.......how much student debt have you accumulated for this worthless degree?
You're a libra Thank you Soo much. I was at the point if a break down when u like my friends I can't decide what I want to do and j finally settled for psychology . And having someone of the same zodiac sign to break all these down for me. Hasina I am soooo grateful for that🙏😭🙃
I'm also student of psychology in Pakistan and ,everybody in my family is like" what the hell are you doing with your future " "you are ruining your future " but this is so interesting subject for me seriously
I’m applying for unis these days and this is exactly what I hear from my fam!!! That there is no scope, psychology isn’t worth it ugh, but I love the subject 😩
You are so funny, smart ( and pretty to). Just keep on goin'. I am anthropologist, and I relate to, although the sciences are not the same, but there are similarities.. Psychology is also based on both science and philosophy, people often don't understand what kind of knowledge that is and ways you can use it for yourself and others. Hard work always pays off.
I suffer from mental health issues and I got no help. I'm still in process. Psychiatric I went were extremely bad ☹️. On my second appointment I was waiting outside and there was a kid. He seem to be suffer from ADHD. I'm saying by all knowledge I know on ADHD. (when I was kid I had symptoms of ADHD,no one understand me) I felt extremely sad when I saw him. ☹️ That psychiatric only prescribe medicine after 2 min talk. ☹️ I want to help people. I'm interested in studying Human behaviour. Brain is really interesting.

Hey, I found this video really helpful, thank you so much. I chose to do psychology because of my personal life and I’m also 15 . I wanted to go college but a lot of people are saying that I should go sixth form . However some people also encourage me to go college. I really don’t know what to do . Please help.
Hi, I was in the same position as you and I decided to go to a college and it was one of the best decisions I made many of my friends stayed at the six form and they really regret it because they don’t feel supported enough because many of the teachers are distracted with the other year groups and they now feel like a change of environment would’ve been best for them especially for preparation for university life. One reason that made me want to go to sixth form was the idea of having smaller class sizes but now that I’m in a college that really isn’t an issue in fact I feel more supported because it’s only two year groups in a college and the teachers are more focused on your progress.
I’m honestly kind of confused :(. I really wanna study Forensic Psychology but where I live there are no programs specifically in Forensic Psychology. So when you mention that psychology opens many doors you think it’s a possible for me to study Psychology and then look into Forensic? So kind of divide them both to then combine them?
I don't know if this will be of any help but in some psychology degrees you can choose to major in forensic psychology. In some unis you can do a double degree with psych and criminology which has forensic psychology courses! Also, it depends where you are from, so if you tell me your city I can try help you find whether some of these degrees exist :))
