Im a psych major but one thing I doubt myself sometimes is: do I really want to work with people? Can i handle that? However for me, even if I don’t love a career everyday, I believe if I care for it and it challenges me than thats what is most important.
hi there, thank you for your comment! i agree with you, having a job i care for that challenges me makes it all worthwhile! but also because we're human, it's important to understand our own comfort levels. i felt very similarly to you during my university years and it was only after i started seeing my own patients and working with people when i realized that i could do it and i wanted to do it! of course some days are more tough than others (as i also have social anxiety) so self-care is very important! best of luck! xo

I had to withdraw from my university recently and I'm still out of school... buuuut I want to go for a BA in Psychology next time (my previous course was actually Media-related haha...) You see, I discovered at some point that although I have a passion for 'creating things', I didn't want to *study* for that. That led me to rethink my academic goals and in the process, I realised that I'm super interested in Psychology! After much research and deliberation, I've decided that I want to pursue a BA/BSc in it (preferably BA, but I'll go with whichever is more ideal in the end) and then a Master's in Educational Psychology- because I want to help people who struggle with learning and that sort of thing. I feel a strong connection with this because I myself seriously struggled in school when I was younger and my teachers and parents weren't able to help me (not their fault, they just didn't understand my situation very well 💖). So I'd like to help persons who face similar difficulties- not just children and young people, but anyone of any age who needs that extra help to discover and unleash their potential ✨🥺✨
Thank you so much for this video! For a long time I knew I wanted to major in Psychology, but was never sure what specific jobs were available & what exactly I’d want to do. After watching this I feel like I have such a clearer view of my future career path. ❤️
I'm a highschool student RN and I'm thinking that I might be interested in psych because I like to think abt how ppl think or try to read what ppl r thinking, but I'm still not sure if it is really what I like. So can u plz tell me what made you wanted to take psych as ur major and what are the abilities u need to be in a psych major
Thank you so much for making this! I had made a request for them and was so happy when I got your notification! I’m going to two different grad programs to tour their mental health counseling and meet with some people in the department this week... wish me luck!
I will be starting my BS in Psychology in Applied behavior analysis, in about 3 weeks. I actually switched my degree plan from Criminal Justice. I am interested in the human psyche and wanted to do something in this field. I want to help individuals, like a counselor, or something related to that. Your vid helped me actually thinking of what I want to actually do. I wasn't sure of how much careers choices out there.
I really wanna take Psychology after I graduate but my parents and relatives wants me to pursue Nursing or Pharma.... this video gives me hope to continue the plans that I'm making for my future.😭
Want to go into psychology as a therapist. Scared I won’t be able to handle helping others in this way because I deal with depression and anxiety myself sometimes
I'm so thankfully this clarity! As a woman who's looking to go back to school (at 21) for a PSY Degree to obtain a job in SW as a Therapist or as someone who does psychology evaluations for criminals.
you have such a nice therapeutic presence about you! i have a bachelor's in psych and i've been working as a psychiatric technician and i'm looking for a new direction because i don't think i want to work in mental health anymore. i still love psych and i'm considering forensics or i/o. this video was nonetheless insightful!
This and your whole channel is sooooo helpful to me!!! I am in my junior year of getting my bachelors psych degree and I wanted to really look into what kind of graduate school I wanted to go into. I initially wanted to become a LMHC but now feel like getting a MSW/LCSW might be more of what I want (still focusing on therapy). You’ve really helped my research!
Hi!! I just stumbled across your channel while looking for possible internships while in in university and I really appreciate it so much. I've had so many nights of anxiety attacks that my psych degree is useless and that i've wasted my parents money. But you really made me feel better 8-8 I'm currently either thinking of getting a masters in counselling or social work! But i would like to take some internships first before bombing more on school. Love your videos!
In recently graduated with a degree in psychology with a specialization in forensics and I have a lot of anxiety about my future career path. However, your video has lessened some of my fear.
Thanks for this! Now that my kids are done with high school (!!!) I have been looking forward to continuing my undergrad psych degree program, and was just really thinking about all of this.
Thank you so much for this video! I am currently in my third year of psychology and have been very interested in the different routes masters programs can provide me. Your videos are great ! :)
Thank you for this video. I am encouraged with your last point. I'm a psych major and I still doubt about my future job. But since I watched it, I got some tips on what and where path should I take. Thank youuu!
I’m majoring in Psychology because of your videos. Thank you so much! I’m working towards my BA. What’s the difference between a LMSW, MSSW, LCSW, LICSW?
I mistakenly said I wanted to study psychology in college because it's the only thing I remember from the strand I'm taking, now here I am watching psychology related videos
To be honest, I think the most important thing to do for any major is networking. As long as you have good sources and references to get a good job 👍. Just make sure to talk to lots of people and internship is extremely important!!!
im in my choice to see what is good career path for me i always love to do social work that's why i want to learn psychologist to help other people who need it doesn't suffer like me i had to change myself all alone not having anyone by my side and im a good listener i want to help thous people who were unable to get help from others idk what future holds for me i will just go on with it
I've heard that social workers are often overworked and take their work home. Do you have bad experiences and how do you handle them. Do you have your own therapist?
I run my own military self mastery and wealth generation company and the self mastery part being a Clinical therapist/ Consultant helps for an option. Make your own study and practice. ~King Michael
I am about to go into my second year of college (I am a nursing student) I want/wanted to become an RN and get a masters for midwifery, so; to work with moms and babies; however I've heard so many bad things about how mean nurses can be with the new ones, I didn't know that was a thing? So I was just looking around wondering if I should change my major or not? I don't know, I guess I also wanted to hear and outside experience: how is it working in psychology? I guess there are pros and cons about every career no? I don't know if I am getting ahead of myself for just listening to those comments about nursing (from nurses) idk
Seems alot more tortuous to become a Psychologist in the US. In Sweden everyone goes to uni for 5 years and after that it's one year of paid internship, and when you're done with that you get the title of being a psychologist.
I would like to be a psychiatrist. Helping children and teenagers. 🥰 Also something In forensics. I love my science. Would love to perform an autopsy. Both these jobs are very social. I love talking hanging Helping people. I have social anxiety so it will be a challenge. But I can't wait it will be interesting.😁
I’m really confused about everything. I know we have to get a masters in Oregon but how do you know what internship you need to have or how long or how do you even get your first job. It’s all so confusing
hi! thanks for your question! yes actually i don't see myself in social work long term, and would like to retire into acadamia as a psych professor most likely after working hard on a phd! but life really is such an unpredictable thing, who can predict where i'll be in 10 years, right? haha :)
if anyone has any advice: i'm a high school junior extremely interested in studying film production or screenwriting, but i've also always been interested in psychology/social work. i've been looking into how to perhaps intersect those two passions and was wondering if anyone had any advise on how to do so if it's possible. thank you!
babygabe 0827 yea haha you’re not alone !! im rly struggling rn. especially since idk if i wanna do screenwriting or film production specifically, either, which for colleges (like chapman) are two separate programs when you apply...and that’s not even thinking about psych! whew. anyway, lmk if you figure out a way to merge them or what you end up choosing, good luck
Hey, I am also in the exact same situation as you! I know that with a psychology degree you really have a lot of options of fields you can go into. I've thought about getting a master's degree in media psychology and from there you might be able to get into the film industry. You could also minor in something like film studies and that could help with getting into the industry as well I think. Lmk if you have any other ways to combine those two interests
hi am a student of secondary school in Africa Tanzania i wish to be pschologist and i have no idea which subject should focus more on them which combination should i take can plz tell me
Great video! Need some help, I've done my Bachelors in Architecture and would(and really want to) persue my master's degree in Psychology. Is there a way possible?
I'm an incoming college this year and I'm thinking of getting bs psychology as my course but I'm still confused of what I really want in the future. Hopefully I find myself in this career I will take.
Hi! I'd like to major in psychology but a part of me thinks that it's better to major in sociology or even media communications... but Id like to ask if it is possible to take a master's in social work with a ba in media and communications?
I just got done my bachelors. Probably going to take a little time off, but I found this super helpful! I’ve kinda narrowed it down to social work, behavioral therapy/analysis, or addiction counseling. Will definitely spend more time researching. I was wondering though, in your experience w your social work program? Do they work with you to find and get certification? Or is it more of a separated thing from the graduate program? Not sure if you’ll see this, but thank you for the info!
Hellooo, did you take up BA psychology or BS psychology in college? I’m really confused of the job opportunities between the two (but I’m thinking of taking up BA psychology)
a psych student i know said that if you have no plans on going to med school, do not take BS Psych. because the hard Science subjects are just gonna add up if you take BS Psych. however, there are no hard Science in AB Psych. (but it depends on you if you want more Science subjects, then take BS)
Do you have any ideas about Psychology related jobs in Korea? Since I recently find your youtube and I think also that you are Korean. I love Korea so much because of their culture, food, transportation, and all about Korea. So I hope you'll acknowledge so that I can prepare and aware of the things that I should do before going Korea.
I'm a sophomore and I dont know if I should major in international relations to become a international lawyer or psychology that recently has gotten me interested in. I'm just so confused right now and don't know where to go for a career :/
I was confused between international relations and psychology too! I interviewed a few law and psychology students as well as graduates.... And even everyone agreed that psychology is better because law is very stressful and hard, you barely have time for a life and I want to be a mother so I don't want to be a lawyer anymore. But international law can be interesting! You can work at the UN or become a diplomat. I'm enrolling in Psychology soon. 💖
I just finished my bachelor's in psychology and going to start my Master's in Social Work. I am planning on taking the exam. How did you studied to become a LMSW? Any books that you recommend?
hello. thank you for this video~ im going to be a college freshman soon, i'll be taking psychology as a pre med course cuz i feel like i cant take the other pre med courses. but i am wishing to be surgeon in the near future... can I still do that although i have psychology as a pre med course?? sorry TT i've been thinking this for a long time now and i still feel so lost...
most people who are planning to go into surgery/ med school get a bachelors in human physiology, human biology or something similar. but it truly doesn’t matter what you major in, as long as you are working on the prerequisites for med school. Another thing you can do is minor in psychology :)
So is the best path getting a BA in Psychology or a BA in Social Work?? Which one is better...let’s say If i want to become a School SW? Hope I can get some advice☺️❤️
Hi. I wonder if you could help me to get some clarity as I am trying to decide on a master’s program to start next year. I have a 2:1 psychology degree from a good university and I struggled to get a psychology related job after graduation in 2017. Due to my circumstances at the time I settled for a totally unrelated job in accounting where I still work. Currently I am unsatisfied with the job and considering going for a master’s degree in a psychology related subject. The problem is that I don’t have consistent psychology experience to be accepted in most master’s program I am interested in. I have done volunteer work as research assistant and some volunteering with the Alzheimer’s Society (social work assistant) during my university years. Apparently this is not enough relevant experience according to the course leader of one of the courses I am interested in. The entry requirement for social work master’s programs are not so strict according to my own research and social work seems to offer a wide range of job opportunities to work in a mental health environment. When I look for ‘social work graduate jobs’ I find a lot more jobs available that are more related to psychology than when looking for ‘psychology graduate jobs’ . Am I biased here or is that really the case that a social work qualification will give me a higher chance to get those psychology/clinical experience that most psychology graduates are looking for? I am not even sure if I want to become a social worker but if that is going to get me into a psychology assistant job quicker I would do it 100%. Please share your thoughts and please give me some suggestions I am so desperate. I dream in becoming a clinical psychologist but I do not have a lot of money and I can not afford to be looking for clinical experience for too long after masters and volunteer work can be hard when you have a full time job and bills to pay and when you are on your own and don’t have any family support.
hi there i feel i wont be able to offer a sufficient answer just through this comment, all i can say is at least from my experience having a masters degree in social work did open up more Job opportunities for me as compared to my friends and colleagues who dove into employment after their BA in psychology. it’s hard to gauge what the experience might be like for you because it really depends on where you live, what the job market for that area is, who is hiring, etc. from what I’m hearing youre someone who has put in time to research and also do have clinical experience! once again, for me, i cant speak for the entirety of people who have gotten their masters in social work, but for me, having a masters definitely has opened more doors for me. not only specifically because it was social work, but just in general having a masters degree means that I’m more specialized in my training. not sure if this is helpful, but I also found that social work seemed to open more doors because there is a lot of case management involved. many places looking for employees want them to Be able to do case management. its not every social worker/clinical focused person’s favorite, but honestly comes with the job. so when interviewers knew that i was a social worker, they seemed to like that i was able to provide clinical services and also case management. best of luck with your research, i know having so many options can be overwhelming as much as having none, but really just keep researching and reviewing what your priorities are when it comes to finances, your dream, we do really only live once, and if being a clinical psychologist is your dream, there are various paths to get there! so much of it comes down to, how much do you want it, and are you willing to put in the years and effort for it? best of luck!
hello, i am going to college this yea and i am really confused with what course to take eithe psychology or social work. i love both :(( can i take pyschology and be a social worker? bc in my hometown, there are no schools that offer social work and i can't go to any places because of the pandemic ;(( hoping to be noticed :(((
I have a question: is there a such thing as a family psychiatrist such as treating all ages of people just like how there is family physician who treats family members or does it not work like that in psychiatry? I was thinking maybe child and adolescents but I like the idea of treating adult patients so I’m confused when it comes to types of patients. Thank you if you answer😊
This video was really helpful and reassuring. Hearing you mention and explain variety of paths with this degree really helped me calm down and encourage me to follow this path!! Would you say that you need to have strong mental health and should “sensitive people” follow into psychology? Thank you so much!!

It can definetely get stressful at times and I get lost in figuring out what I wanted to do in the future, with psych being so competitive, the future just looked bleaked. Truly thank you for this video, it really helped me gained a bit more understanding with what I could do in the future, knowing that someone else before me has stepped into it already!!
Btw, your smile and your persona is so comforting and uplifting, would love to see more from you :)
hi there, I am SO happy I could have helped in any way!! omg yes psychology and this field is so awesome but awesomely confusing at times too!
best of luck with everything and with your essay as well! and awh so sweet, thank you :))))
I had to withdraw from my university recently and I'm still out of school... buuuut I want to go for a BA in Psychology next time (my previous course was actually Media-related haha...)
You see, I discovered at some point that although I have a passion for 'creating things', I didn't want to *study* for that.
oh my goodness best comment ever! i'm so so happy i could have been of help! best of luck xoxo
I'm a highschool student RN and I'm thinking that I might be interested in psych because I like to think abt how ppl think or try to read what ppl r thinking, but I'm still not sure if it is really what I like. So can u plz tell me what made you wanted to take psych as ur major and what are the abilities u need to be in a psych major
psychology doesn’t teach you how to read what people are thinking btw ! ♥️
I’m majoring in psychology because I want to work in hospitality :) so glad you brought it up
Update
Thank you so much for making this! I had made a request for them and was so happy when I got your notification! I’m going to two different grad programs to tour their mental health counseling and meet with some people in the department this week... wish me luck!
ooh good luck on your tours! such a good idea to learn more about their programs and meet the department staff!
I really wanna take Psychology after I graduate but my parents and relatives wants me to pursue Nursing or Pharma.... this video gives me hope to continue the plans that I'm making for my future.😭
mental health nursing? That was one of the options she mentioned.
Glad i was able to help! Best of luck!
you have such a nice therapeutic presence about you! i have a bachelor's in psych and i've been working as a psychiatric technician and i'm looking for a new direction because i don't think i want to work in mental health anymore. i still love psych and i'm considering forensics or i/o. this video was nonetheless insightful!
So u can study psych and still do psychiatric job🤨
thank you for uploading so often now
omg hahaha jess
This and your whole channel is sooooo helpful to me!!! I am in my junior year of getting my bachelors psych degree and I wanted to really look into what kind of graduate school I wanted to go into. I initially wanted to become a LMHC but now feel like getting a MSW/LCSW might be more of what I want (still focusing on therapy). You’ve really helped my research!
Hi!! I just stumbled across your channel while looking for possible internships while in in university and I really appreciate it so much. I've had so many nights of anxiety attacks that my psych degree is useless and that i've wasted my parents money. But you really made me feel better 8-8
I'm currently either thinking of getting a masters in counselling or social work! But i would like to take some internships first before bombing more on school. Love your videos!
I'm a psych student and I really love your video to be honest it inspired me more than I was with my major!!
In recently graduated with a degree in psychology with a specialization in forensics and I have a lot of anxiety about my future career path. However, your video has lessened some of my fear.
where have you ended up working now?
update?
Thanks for this! Now that my kids are done with high school (!!!) I have been looking forward to continuing my undergrad psych degree program, and was just really thinking about all of this.
hii there! ahh i have so much respect for mamas! i'm super excited for this next chapter of your life!! :)))
thank you for this! I’m majoring in psychology
yayy psych majors unite! of course, hope i could help!
Awesome video! I would love that video about the differences between SW and counseling. Thanks!
thank you! awesome, i've noted your suggestion! thanks so much! xo
Thx for the help, I've been doing some research and you've been a really big help
this video was very helpful. i’m currently double majoring in psychology and spanish. i might minor in sociology.
very helpful video, thank you! Think I will be looking in to mental health counseling.
Such a helpful video. Thankyouu so much💞💞
Thank you so much for this video! I am currently in my third year of psychology and have been very interested in the different routes masters programs can provide me.
Your videos are great ! :)
awh thank you so much :')) good luck with the process of looking into masters programs!
Thank you for this video. I am encouraged with your last point. I'm a psych major and I still doubt about my future job. But since I watched it, I got some tips on what and where path should I take. Thank youuu!
So happy to hear! Best of luck with everything, you got this!
I’m majoring in Psychology because of your videos. Thank you so much! I’m working towards my BA. What’s the difference between a LMSW, MSSW, LCSW, LICSW?
I would love to major in psychology. I would love to work in the criminal Justice field and mental health and addiction! With a focus in forensic.
Great video, thanks for sharing!
And now I have more questions than answers 🙃 I have two years to figure out my entire future
I mistakenly said I wanted to study psychology in college because it's the only thing I remember from the strand I'm taking, now here I am watching psychology related videos
To be honest, I think the most important thing to do for any major is networking. As long as you have good sources and references to get a good job 👍. Just make sure to talk to lots of people and internship is extremely important!!!
thank you so so much for this video!! 💓
Thank u a lot for this informative and helpful video💕
Now thing are clear to me for real the video really helps
im in my choice to see what is good career path for me i always love to do social work that's why i want to learn psychologist to help other people who need it doesn't suffer like me i had to change myself all alone not having anyone by my side and im a good listener i want to help thous people who were unable to get help from others idk what future holds for me i will just go on with it
I've heard that social workers are often overworked and take their work home. Do you have bad experiences and how do you handle them. Do you have your own therapist?
I run my own military self mastery and wealth generation company and the self mastery part being a Clinical therapist/ Consultant helps for an option. Make your own study and practice. ~King Michael
I'm stuck between all these programs. Thanks for clearing up sime stuff. Now i just have to choose a school 😩😂
thank you !! I rly need this kind of vid rn / i love ur videos btw theyre so helpful & inspiring♡
awh i'm so happy to hear that :') thank you for watching and hearing what i have to say it means so much
I am about to go into my second year of college (I am a nursing student) I want/wanted to become an RN and get a masters for midwifery, so; to work with moms and babies; however I've heard so many bad things about how mean nurses can be with the new ones, I didn't know that was a thing? So I was just looking around wondering if I should change my major or not? I don't know, I guess I also wanted to hear and outside experience: how is it working in psychology? I guess there are pros and cons about every career no? I don't know if I am getting ahead of myself for just listening to those comments about nursing (from nurses) idk
This is amazing 🔥 I'm planning to apply for an art therapy course 🙏 this basic info is the motivation I need ❤️
I’m not fully through the video but I’m getting a BA in psych and hoping to get my masters. Is it a mistake to not get my BS
Very helpful. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the video. it helps a lot. God Bless you
Seems alot more tortuous to become a Psychologist in the US.
But I can't wait it will be interesting.😁
awesome and informative vid! also u PRETTY pretty
yes! thank you so much!!!
of course! i hope it is helpful! and if you have further questions, seriously don't hesitate to let me know! xo
thank you!!! this is very helpful
Im wanting to get my 4 year first then my masters! Gonna start soon!
I’m really confused about everything. I know we have to get a masters in Oregon but how do you know what internship you need to have or how long or how do you even get your first job. It’s all so confusing
Hello, I had a question I’m majoring in Psychology .. can I be a social worker with that?
Do you think you'll ever move away from social work into another psych field?
hi! thanks for your question! yes actually i don't see myself in social work long term, and would like to retire into acadamia as a psych professor most likely after working hard on a phd! but life really is such an unpredictable thing, who can predict where i'll be in 10 years, right? haha :)
if anyone has any advice: i'm a high school junior extremely interested in studying film production or screenwriting, but i've also always been interested in psychology/social work. i've been looking into how to perhaps intersect those two passions and was wondering if anyone had any advise on how to do so if it's possible. thank you!
Omg I'm in the same situation, I'm glad I found your comment
babygabe 0827 yea haha you’re not alone !! im rly struggling rn. especially since idk if i wanna do screenwriting or film production specifically, either, which for colleges (like chapman) are two separate programs when you apply...and that’s not even thinking about psych! whew. anyway, lmk if you figure out a way to merge them or what you end up choosing, good luck
Roxy Morris hii! i’m also i’m the same host except i’m between nursing and psychology to become a social worker ! have you decided?
Hey, I am also in the exact same situation as you! I know that with a psychology degree you really have a lot of options of fields you can go into. I've thought about getting a master's degree in media psychology and from there you might be able to get into the film industry. You could also minor in something like film studies and that could help with getting into the industry as well I think. Lmk if you have any other ways to combine those two interests
hi am a student of secondary school in Africa Tanzania i wish to be pschologist and i have no idea which subject should focus more on them which combination should i take can plz tell me
I love your videos! 💖
awh thank you so much!!! :')
@Aicha Sanogo Oh, hi! Yes. I'm currently taking bs psychology and I'm enjoying it. 😊
I need some information on online counseling websites, where we can opt for jobs please can you help me with that information
Hellooo, did you take up BA psychology or BS psychology in college? I’m really confused of the job opportunities between the two (but I’m thinking of taking up BA psychology)
Me too
a psych student i know said that if you have no plans on going to med school, do not take BS Psych. because the hard Science subjects are just gonna add up if you take BS Psych. however, there are no hard Science in AB Psych.
Dr. Joseph Hammer's Careers in Psychology Test may help anyone watching this video.
Hi! Im also kinda leaning to pursue LMSW, i just wonder how the job opportunity was for you? Did it take long for you to find a workplace?
I’m feeling like I’m wasting my time with my forensic psychology bachelors degree path any recommendations to switch?
Same for me, I was thinking about being a foreign service officer but it's just so much moving around I don't know if I could handle that :(
have you decided?
@@aaliyahg357 I think I'm going to be a graphic designer or animator ASKJSK
I just finished my bachelor's in psychology and going to start my Master's in Social Work. I am planning on taking the exam. How did you studied to become a LMSW? Any books that you recommend?
THANK YOU!!!
hello. thank you for this video~ im going to be a college freshman soon, i'll be taking psychology as a pre med course cuz i feel like i cant take the other pre med courses. but i am wishing to be surgeon in the near future... can I still do that although i have psychology as a pre med course?? sorry TT i've been thinking this for a long time now and i still feel so lost...
most people who are planning to go into surgery/ med school get a bachelors in human physiology, human biology or something similar. but it truly doesn’t matter what you major in, as long as you are working on the prerequisites for med school. Another thing you can do is minor in psychology :)
@@kingsaera thank you!!
Should I take an associate in arts or science ? I am currently enrolled under AS was this the right choice?
Do you get a job after completing bachelor's degree also do you need to be good at maths for becoming psychologist
So is the best path getting a BA in Psychology or a BA in Social Work?? Which one is better...let’s say If i want to become a School SW? Hope I can get some advice☺️❤️
i’ve got the same question ^
Very informative! May I ask if I can pursue in the work force first, then work my way up to a masters degree?
For sure! A lot of people do that. There's also accelerated programs where you can work a job as well as take classes for your degree
can i study psychology or being therapist if i myself struggling with mental health
Thank you so much!!
yessss that’s exactly why i made the video! you GOT this! actually i did make a video on that topic, so check it out! hope its helpful :) th short answer is, the more “sensitive” the better :)
I want to go into neuroscience but I don't know how :(
this helped me a lot thanks
I am going to major in psychology, but want to go to med school for psychiatry! do you think thats a good plan? i feel like it would give me better insight
What about speech therapist opportunity in workforce
