He was a really nice guy as well as being talented......I met him in Soho while visiting the UK....I had no idea who he was, which he thought was hilarious and he started buying me beer till he got surrounded by fans and suddenly left the pub.
So the TARDIS has a randomiser system and just so happened to take them to Skaro without looking at the name of the planet. And he didn't seem bothered as to why there was so much radiation.
The Randomizer was used to run from The Black Guardian that was hunting for them at the time. The TARDIS console only started being reliable with the modern era so he never bothered to check it most of the time, and lots and lots of planets have radiation. You should watch older Doctor Who sometime.
@stephcrane Actually, I own the DVD files, and that was apparently the reason Terry Nation gave. The failing prop could've also been a contributing factor, though.
It took me a second to figure out why everything looked wrong; some idiot stretched the image horizontally to make the video “wide screen”. The circles in the TARDIS are not supposed to be ovals.
Now I want a scene where the 14th Doctor's roundels are all shaped like ovals, puzzling the Doctor. He thinks it has something to do with some nearby stellar gravity source distorting the TARDIS' interior dimensions, so he goes to investigating, getting involved with the main story. At the end, he's solved the problem and defeated the enemy, but the roundels are still ovals. He then realizes, somewhat sheepishly, that he had the TARDIS set to widescreen mode. He flips it to standard mode and the roundels go back to normal.
Destiny of the Daleks episode 1. First shown 1st September 1979, watched by around 13 million viewers, partly because ITV was off air due to strike action.
"Oh look, rocks!" I've always loved that line.
I, too!
It's not a great line... but the delivery is superb!!
LOL!
I like Romana's pink version of the Doctor's coat, plus her white version of his multicolored scarf.
Tom is just so relaxed and natural in the role by this time.
too relaxed and annoyingly witty in an unconvincing way
Ooh, you're 'ard.
@@yannatoko9898 Showing off becoz
He was paid REALLY well
@@TheSchemer1 LOL The best Doctor ever on screen.
Knowing Tom, I thought he was going to say: "Another F*****g quarry!"
Affirmative!
or the same quarry again.
I like how Romana just casually takes those pills the Doctor gave her without even finding out what they were.
And we all know the Doctor lies…I wonder what they were really for. 😂

Contraception pills - they were married
Like you wouldn't take any pill the Doctor gave you.
this makes the Eleventh Doctor saying “I’m going to look at rocks. Love a rock!” even better

Wow wth? Lol this seems like something the doctor would do!
I can totally imagine an actual episode of his era starting like that.
I love that line! Tom is so damn funny! He is my favorite Doctor! Brilliant portrayal.
TOTALLY like the married couple they were...or were to be.
just great. im getting into classic who this summer (starting from hartnell) and tom is already my fav
Edit: nope, it’s pertwee.
tbf, Jon pertwee was probably the most popular Doctor out of the first three
I would love to see Roman and K-9 return. It would be a welcome change.
Romana II was SOOOOOOOO HOT!
So was the original TBH.
As I recall, this was right after Romana chose the body type after her recent regeneration. A funny scene in its own right.
I preferred Mary Tamm as Romana. IMO, she was a much prettier woman.
I Like Her I Hate Mary Tamm
Legendary would be an understatement.
Oh look rocks - terribly funny!
One of my favorite doctors
Awesome! I LOVE DOCTOR WHO!
Love tome baker.from ever.hope hes is good .
Someone get RTD on the phone! I need Lalla Ward as Romana for the 60th anniversary!
Doctor Who today is shit.
Can tell Douglas Adams has written this.

The TARDIS loves quarries.
Loved Dr who K9 WAS AWSOME 🚜🚜🚜🔵⚪️🔵⚪️
K-9 was left in the TARDIS for this story because Terry Nation apparently didn't want him upstanding the Daleks.
Or it could be because the prop was shite and couldn't do off-road work.
@stephcrane Actually, I own the DVD files, and that was apparently the reason Terry Nation gave. The failing prop could've also been a contributing factor, though.
Randomiser 🤣🤣
OMG, that was funny!
There at skaro using the randomizer on the tardis in this episode
10 must of forgot about those pills 💀

i thought sarah jane kept k9
there's multiple k-9s
As @That1MexGeek said there were multiple K9s, this is K9 mark II and not the K9 given to Sarah Jane, that was K9 mark III.
