    In "Among Us," the traits and strategies that distinguish good players in each role are crucial to the dynamics of the game. Here's a detailed look at what makes a good Impostor, Crewmate, Neutral Killer, and Jester:
    🔴Good Impostor
    Deception Skills: A good Impostor must be adept at lying convincingly, creating believable alibis, and diverting suspicion to others.
    Strategic Kills: Timing and selecting the right targets are key. Eliminating players who are skilled at deduction or who are alone can reduce the risk of getting caught.
    Map Knowledge: Understanding the layout, vent locations, and common task areas allows for efficient movement and escape routes.
    Task Faking: Impostors need to convincingly fake tasks by mimicking the behavior of Crewmates and knowing the timing of tasks.
    Communication: During meetings, a good Impostor manipulates the conversation, plants seeds of doubt, and pushes the narrative in their favor without appearing too aggressive.
    🔵Good Crewmate
    Task Efficiency: Completing tasks quickly and accurately helps progress the game towards a Crewmate victory.
    Observation Skills: Paying attention to the actions and movements of others can reveal suspicious behavior and potential Impostors.
    Map Awareness: Knowing the map well aids in navigating efficiently and identifying out-of-place activities.
    Communication: Sharing observations and suspicions during meetings helps to build a case against potential Impostors. Clear and concise communication is key.
    Teamwork: Collaborating with other Crewmates, sticking together, and confirming each other’s tasks (visual tasks, if enabled) can help ensure safety and gather evidence.
    🟢Good Neutral Killer (Modded Roles like Glitch, Arsonist, etc.)
    Survival Skills: Balancing aggression with caution is crucial. Neutral Killers need to eliminate threats while avoiding detection.
    Blending In: Acting like a Crewmate or even an Impostor at times helps in diverting suspicion.
    Kill Timing: Neutral Killers need to time their kills strategically, targeting key players without drawing too much attention.
    Adaptability: Being able to adapt to different game dynamics and roles (as modded games can have varying rules and roles) is important.
    Manipulation: Like Impostors, neutral killers need to manipulate meetings and conversations to keep the focus away from themselves.
    🟣Good Jester
    Suspicious Behavior: Acting suspiciously enough to be voted out but not so much as to be outright killed by Impostors or other Neutral Killers.
    Psychological Play: Understanding the mindset of other players and playing into their suspicions or biases to get voted out.
    Risk Management: Balancing being obviously suspicious with being subtly deceptive to ensure they aren't killed before getting voted out.
    Meeting Manipulation: Steering conversations and creating chaos to make others doubt each other while subtly pushing for their own vote-out.
    Timing: Choosing the right moments to act suspiciously to maximize the chances of being voted out without drawing fatal attention.
    Each role in "Among Us" requires a unique set of skills and strategies. The best players can adapt their play style according to their role and the evolving dynamics of the game.

      For the imposter frequencies, I assume that doesn’t take into account lobby sizes? For example, it would make sense for people who join bigger lobbies to get imposter less often than people who play more games when there are fewer people in the lobby.

    Reasons why DumbDog does worse as a crewmate than as imposter, seriously:
    1) “My food’s here someone please kill me”
    This is less present now that he’s switched to factor but I can’t count how many times he’s died in the first round because of his food, either from sherif shooting, vigilante shooting, or deliberately entering a dangerous area to die faster
    2) “We have to kill the dog”
    I think DumbDog, 5up, and Hafu are the three “big brain” members that people know they need to kill so they can get away with their kills
    3) Trolling
    I think DumbDog has an above average number of troll rounds, probably only beat out by Steve and DK

    I’ll miss Courtilly so much. Her personality fits so well in the overall dynamic of the group, she’s a very good liar and a very calm player which makes it difficult for crew to vote her with certainty. I’ve found myself believing her even with a lot of evidence against her.

    An avid DumbDog watcher here: his crew win rate is lower because he trolls a LOT during his crew games xD I've been LOVING his content so much in the last two years because he stopped tryharding as much and is simply having fun with the game, and it really shows. @TheDailyEgg 28 днів тому +19

    My thoughts on Kara being so low as Crew is that she's one of the most sussed people in the lobby. She gets the 5up treatment where you're guilty until proven innocent, so she doesn't get a fair chance to shine as crew when she's always trying to simply clear her name. There's probably a correlation between her getting voted out as crew and her losing as crew. Similar deal with court

    • @AmongUsAcademy
      @AmongUsAcademy  28 днів тому +6

      Interesting though how 5up has overcome this “bias” much better. I don’t mention it, but 5ups doing even better in 2024 (diff just not as big as DK) - whereas Kara is still struggling as Crew and Imp

    • @TheDailyEgg
      @TheDailyEgg 28 днів тому +4

      @@AmongUsAcademy yea I think the 5up bias is always there, but 5up has just played so much among us with so many different people that he's been able to overcome that in this lobby where he knows how everyone will react. I think them knowing each other for years now plays a big role in how their games play out. I'm wondering how these stats compare if you drop each of these players individually in a lobby full of strangers who don't already know everyone else's meta sus

    It looks like there might be a nonlinear relationship between imposter frequency and imposter. This is how I see it:
    The less often you get imposter, the less practiced you are, hence a lower win rate. The more often you get imposter, the more sus you are, or better yet, the more tunneled the lobby is, hence a lower win rate still. But right in the middle, you’re not quite sus/tunneled, but you’re not too rusty either, causing a higher win rate.

  • @bria9948

    hafu alluded to this a bit in her stream, but among us (esp modded) isn’t specifically designed to be balanced, but I think this group does a really good job of balancing the gameplay themselves and just enjoying playing games together. i think the stats paint a really good overall picture of why they’ve kept it up after all this time: about 50% of the time the game plays out as you would expect with a crewmate win, but it allows for plenty of moments for people to pop off and for them to celebrate each other. it’s not as much of a “solved” game because they’re letting games play out and not trying to over analyze every breath. i’m glad to see them having so much fun together after all these years!

    • @AmongUsAcademy

    Courtilly is held in such high regard in the Morning Lobby that she'll always be sus. Couple it with the fact she's technically a new addition from the old main cast, she holds no influence and gets voted out BECAUSE SHES SO GOOD.

    I think in terms of pure lying ability, courtilly is one of, if not the single best liar in the lobby, which makes it a straight up coin toss on whether not she’s bad, not to mention she does a lot of solo routing in the early rounds making her more sus. In terms of her crewmate game, she’s easily on the level of a DD or hafu but doesn’t have the same conviction and pull a lot of times to get people to agree with her, and she can get out-talked sometimes even though she’s a great liar
    Also, she gets meta-sussed for how quick she can guess roles

    My theory for Kara having a surprisingly low crew win rate is because even when she's crew, she gets voted a lot. And if she's not, people are tunneling or suspicious of her and that takes sus off the actual baddies. So crew is more likely to lose as a result.

    I do feel like Junk is one of the best jesters if not the best, but I think usually when he's jester he's killed round one or 2 so he never gets to shine. Like you said about ellum, Junk is just votable, if he's in the final 5 or 6 it almost always feels like he's imposter or jester, but since he's such a wildcard you can't usually let him do his own thing

    • @AmongUsAcademy
      @AmongUsAcademy  28 днів тому +6

      I will say there’s an “art to not dying”. Koji does well as Jester I agree in large part he avoids dying - he survives to a lot more final meetings when he tries to not die with his favourite role.
      That’s why I think overall Winrate or wins is fine for Jester. If you die cause you’re hiding in top left reactor or get guessed early round 1 meeting, that’s still an L for your loss column.

    14:23 I think there is a lot to be said about performance in the 'top 3' final meeting. some members of the lobby are really persuasive and appeal to others emotions, and try to take up lots of the final conversation, and others are quieter and present logical reasons like court and kara, and therefore they get voted more, regardless of if they're crew or imposter. the best imposters combine both logic and emotions in the final 3.
    Plus i think you get a bit of a debuff if you're considered one of the "smart players", in the final 3, as people are way more cautious of you...

    • @AmongUsAcademy
      @AmongUsAcademy  28 днів тому

      True. Although the opposite is the case for Hafu. She wins so many final 3s and final 4s as impostor - it’s so hard to push it on her unless you have overwhelming evidence and even then…

    A BIG impostor tell for Hafu that's gone unnoticed for a while now is her, what feels to me like, over-the-top indignant disbelief whenever she's caught in a lie. I'm gonna comment this again:
    I feel like the overall winrate should be calculated by finding the mean of the different roles' winrates because some people have won as crew way more than others (for example, if one person wins as crew 100 out of 200 times and won as imposter 5 out of 20 times, he's not better than someone who won as crew 80 out of 200 times and imposter 15 out of 30 times, even though the first person's winrate is 47.72% and the second's is 41.30%.
    I'm saying that the winrate for the first guy should be (100/200 + 5/20)/2 = 0.375, 37.5%
    And for the second guy it's (80/200 + 15/30) = 0.45, 45%.
    I think this tells way is better at telling us who is better at the game.
    Edit: Some roles should be weighted less or more than other roles, like jester should not be its own category, and should be counted with all other neutral roles so as to not skew the results too much.
    There should be three categories: crew, imposter, and neutral (I'm combining neutral because some people have a really low neutral killer or evil winrate so I'm balancing things out)
    Edit: I calculated the winrate using this method:
    Average winrate = 28.07%
    17: Courtilly 21.58%
    16: Kimi 24.16%
    15: DK 24.48%
    14: Skadj 25.58%
    13: Junk 26.35%
    12: Ellum 27.29%
    11: Hbomb 27.31%
    10: Kara 27.52%
    9: Ovilee 27.74%
    8: Aipha 27.79%
    7: Steve 27.99%
    6: 5up 29.07%
    5: Koji 30.36%
    4: Smajor 30.97%
    3: Janet 31.09%
    2: DumbDog 32.81%
    1: Hafu 35.06%

    • @AmongUsAcademy
      @AmongUsAcademy  27 днів тому +4

    I think that the data not showing much of a correlation between impostor frequency and winrate makes sense, there's a lot more nuance going on. First of all, with the same group of people you have to consider that it's not just the impostors who are getting more experienced, crewmates are getting more skilled over time as well, and so i think the winrate tends to stay the same. Also, the modded lobbies add in a lot more randomness into the mix, and no amount of skill or experience can account for getting killed by an arsonist or losing to a jester or something. Plus, you also have to factor in what i like to call "impostor fatigue". In the long term higher frequency may lead to a better performance, but think of how many times someone gets impostor like 4 or 5 times in a row and their performance drops because they just don't want to keep being the impostor (I know this has happened to Janet a few times).
