A good warm-up routine is to do a handful of tricks over something(like another board.) That way it forces you to actually pop your tricks which will warm your legs up a lot faster.
This hack rules. The simplicity really helps my brain not get overwhelmed, and it let's the board flip right beneath my feet instead of behind me which used to happen.
This was THE best heelflip tutorial. Truly helped me understand my issue but more importantly the “pinkie toe corner pocket” was such a strong cue for my brain and I now have them on lock.
I had em when I was a teen and then lost them after I learned kickflips. Gonna give this a try. I used to do them with my front foot Ollie style with no toe hang. Great video as always!
@@localjoe I finally got around to it and was total pikachu face when the first try popped and flipped level. Stomped it good. Now time to do it rolling. You seriously unlocked the trick for me! I haven’t landed a heel in over a decade. WOW
@@GC-ji3ye hell yeah my man glad it worked out! Sometimes I wonder if it only makes sense in my head but sounds like it’s working well for a few of you!
@@localjoe Well, the no knee tip helped a ton in my head. We were on a road trip to pick up a dresser from my parents yesterday when I was listening. It made sense and I thought to give it a go when we got settled. It got late because we stopped at my homies shop in Houston so I tried it today. I always kicked with my knee wearing big ole circa cup soles back in the day so it worked out with enough pop. I’ve been skating vulcs since I picked it back up in August and heelflips seemed so alien to me. Thank you so much!
Were you skating extra during this time frame? You look way comfortable on your board in this vid!!! Neen william’s Braille trick tip helped me a lot, I definitely have the problem you mentioned where I end up lined up with the nose of the board, but in front of it so like my body keeps going and my board stops. I feel like I’ve been RIGHT THERE for about 3 months now, my first official concrete land will be in the books soon I hope!
Pinky toe will help and make sure your weight is on your heels. If you are leaning too much on your front foot toes the board has a tendency to do a a varial motion. Weight on your heel edge and pinky toe in the corner pocket and you should be golden.
Mate you have awesome content! Some of the best skate tutorials on UA-cam, honestly. I have been trying the heelflip lately, but I am very inconsistent. I have a good flick, but I keep landing in front of the board. Any advice?
So I’m goofy so what I imagine is jumping up off my back foot and landing more on my back foot as well. Kinda like a one footed jump with your back foot. Forces you to not put too much weight on your front foot. I’d just try playing with that. Dm me on Instagram if you have more questions and let me know how it works!
I notice watching videos of heelflips there seems to eather be weight on that front foot toeside and that helps roll the foot out and off the nose. But your saying weight on the heels. I cant seem to get that part right. A ollie would have weight on the toes.Anyone
Here's a link to a bunch of completes from my favorite skate shop. My favorite brands are Creature and Girl just because how long their boards last but also the tactics shop decks are freaking amazing as well. Does that help? www.tactics.com/skateboard-completes/rs-8.0
@@isellmethdotcom If you send me a video of it happening that would help me understand the problem better. My Ig is @thelocaljoe but regardless a big key to landing tricks comes down to your balance. If you are slipping out it means you aren't balanced when you are doing your pop. If you can stay balanced as you pop you will come down balanced as well. I'd start with focusing on your balance while you pop and the rest should take care of itself. If that doesn't help let me know.

I struggled with these. Landed 5 out of 6 attempts after watching this! Thank you!
haha it's magic my man. People explain it so wrong and it makes them more difficult than they actually are.
Best thing about ya vids is....
THEYRE RELATABLE to us mere mortals. Keep em comin bro

Yeah it really is the mental cue that helps it click. Glad it helped you!
Dude, thank you for this video. I legit learned heelflips from my brain repeating “Pinky toe, corner pocket.”
thanks so much love u man super stoked to get these first time after 2 years
Thank you bro don’t ever stop !!!
Super under-rated tip! i'm going to buy a tee-shirt literally because of this video. Thanks Joe
Best lesson ever made brother! love heelflips!
Really great tutorial! Thank you! Pinky toe corner pocket! Your awesome, bro.
Glad it was helpful! if i'm struggling with heelflips I'll focus on that and it helps me find them again!
you’re the best, man. love your channel
I'll try this! Oh and bro. I absolutely LOVE your vids. My fav youtuber definetily.

@@GC-ji3ye haha vulcs really make you do heelflips proper. Cupsoles let you get away with a lot. They practically do the heelflip for you lol
Just found you yesterday but I already love your channel. Great show reviews and awesome skate tips/videos. Keep it up!
Glad you found it my man! Let me know if there is anything I can do for you!
Great tutorial keep the videos coming 👊🏼🔥🔥
Thanks man will do!

Thanks for always commenting my man I appreciate it!
Awesome dude learning heelflips were way easier for me too🔥 have you ever done a double heelflip? If so can you do a tutorial on that too👌🏽
Haha I’ve done one years ago but I popsicled myself in the process haha haven’t tried them since but I’ll give it a try
Just got my heels on lock today ty :)
Dude I finally landed one!! I think I was trying to use my big toe. Pinky toe is key I guess lol
Helll yeah man! God to hear!
When I put my back foot in that position the board wants to rotate like a varial flip. I’m gonna try the pinky toe tip. Thanks!

I will now have "pinkie toe, corner pocket" stuck in my head for the next week! 😂 Guess I better practise.

Hell yeah. I learned heels way before kicks. Been a big heelflip fan since 20....03?
amazing video, explained all the little things i had to try figure out, also 69th like 🤺
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Good video bro
I love Lindsey Robertson’s heelflips also
awesome work your the best keep up the awesome videos!!! 🔥🔥👏👏🔥🔥👏👏
thanks brown fam! Let me know if there's any videos you'd like me to make!
it NEVER translates into how good your heelflips are. TRUTH!
I just Ollie and kick forward it usually gets the trick done.
Man thanks for the useful tips
It always goes behind me and it's the only thing keeping me from landing it
Hell yeah I just got that same board 😂 time to land some heel flips
I did em like that until i went to 8.5 now i have to hang the flicking foot otherwise it pops too high
I notice watching videos of heelflips there seems to eather be weight on that front foot toeside and that helps roll the foot out and off the nose. But your saying weight on the heels. I cant seem to get that part right. A ollie would have weight on the toes.Anyone
Weight over heels but the pressure on your front foot is on the toe or ball of your foot
@@localjoe ok gotcha much appreciated brother!
You should do switch heels if you got that in your bag of tricks.
Dude I need to relearn them. I used to have switch heel but never Nollie I want to get them both
goes behind me always. I've landed a couple but I feel like it's luck at this point. I've tried leaning back but it doesn't help.
Don't think of it as leaning back as much as it's jump straight up but jumping of your heels not your toes.
My problem is I jump forward and board lands behind me! I’ve landed a couple in my time but that was a year ago!
Hey I wanna get my first board what are some good brands to skate

@@PANDA-dq8sn not problem man let me know if there’s any way I can help
everytime i do a heelflip im gonna have your voice in my head saying "pinky toe corner pocket".
Thats the simplest way ive seen anyone break down how to do them
I can land the heelflip with both feet, but i keep getting pushed forward do you have a solution?
Do you mean pushed forward like towards your toes?
@@localjoe yeah like i slip out

Pinky toe, corner pocket. I’ll say it every time if it works.
Not much, big dogg, what's up with you?
this board looks kinda very small, isn't it?
