Gracias Sinorita. Thank You for finally Reacting to this Great Film. And I do highly recommend doing Part II. In it there is a backstory sequence about how Vito Corleone(played by a young Robert DeNiro) rose. It also has a most tragic conclusion. Some didn't like Part III, but it is essential in continuing the story. I also suggest reading The Godfather Novel. It has some details not seen in the Movie. Especially regarding Luca Brasi. The Godfather is one of those film that takes about 2-3 views to get the jest of everything. Again thank you for doing this. Salute. 🥂

@@user-ky9zw3jb2s The story of Luca Brasi is a very dark one. You should read the Prequel Novel called. The Family Corleone. An excellent read. It gives some backstory about Luca. It makes one wonder why Vito sent Luca to Sollozzo and the Tatagllias. I think Vito was trying to unload Luca. Maybe Vito's conscience got to him about having hired Luca.

The Thunderbolt spoken of in the scene when Michael meets his first wife, Apollonia, is like being struck with Cupid's Golden Arrow. It's a fated, everlasting love and once in a lifetime experience that most people don't have. So, that's why Kate was forgotten once he met Apollonia. She became his world. And when she was murdered, it broke him and Michael Corleone became a completely different person after her death.
He went home and married Kate after spending time in mourning for Apollonia. He didn't love Kate the way he loved his first wife. He just wanted the stability of a family, like his father had, because it was important.

It is set in the 1950's so the drug being imported was more likely heroin via Italy than cocaine. The reason the mob wanted to ban drug dealing wasn't altruistic, it was practical. Apparently the story behind the cat was that it was a last minute edition. It was a cat who just lived on the film set, Coppola just saw it, picked it up, and handed it to Brando, who as we can see was thankfully good with cats and got the cat to calm down and start purring pretty quickly. The only problem was that the cat was purring so loudly that they couldn't hear anyone else, so they had to edit all the purring out.

I feel like it's harder for younger people to be interested in this particular film, considering how long it is and the fact that it's quite old (1972). But it is so freaking good! I love it! I've seen it countless times and I never get tired of it.

I'm a Gen Z lad, and I found the Godfather FANTASTIC. I find all the complaints about the runtime rather redundant due to how engrossing the story is. Very few films have had my eyes lazer focused on the screen from start to finish - the cinematography, lighting, and performances are impeccable.
Though if I'm being honest, Part 2 felt like more of a chore to get through, due to the much larger narrative and flashbacks to Vito's younger years. Still an amazing film though- Pacino's performance was amazing.
Can't wait to check out the Coda cut of Part 3

When you get to Godfather III, watch the version titled “The Godfather Coda: The Death Of Michael Corleone”. 229 comments, so I'm sure someone has mentioned it, but "Johnny Fontaine" is supposed to be Frank Sinatra, a real-life famous Italian-American singer and actor. In fact, the movie that the "Johnny" character wants to be in so bad was supposed to "From Here to Eternity", a movie that Sinatra really wanted to do. To be honest, this whole saga only exists because Mario Puzo made a deal with Paramount Pictures to make a "scandalous" story about Sinatra's Mafia connections. He wrote the novel specifically for it to be adapted into a film for Paramount. Here's the irony: the Fontaine/Sinatra storyline was the least interesting thing in the movie for audiences, then and now. But anyway, there ya go. :) Charming as always. You're really a lot of fun to watch. Continued success!

Just in case you weren't aware, the character of Johnny Fontane is based on Frank Sinatra, who is believed to have used his mob connections to gain a part in "From Here To Eternity"; for which Sinatra won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Also, the story about the Big Band leader was based on Sinatra and Tommy Dorsey, who refused to release him from his contract until mobsters jammed a gun barrel down Dorsey's throat and threatened to kill him if he did not release Sinatra. Dorsey eventually sold the contract to Sinatra for one dollar.

Directed by Coppola, all his immediate family are actors/directors. Sophia, Nicolas Cage, and Connie...is Rocky Balboa's wife! Coppola also did Apacalypse Now, and The Outsiders, chock packed full of future stars! Also in this series, Sonny's iligitimate son, with the woman he's screwing behind the door, plays a major role in 3! In part 2 the FBI agent is Harry Dean Stanton! He's been in every movie made since the silent era!😅😅😅. Outsiders, Red Dawn, Godfather 2, Dillinger, Green Mile, Alien, and others. RIP to him. The guy Carlo, is still alive and very well connected, and has avoided death, even in foreign countries, because of his Ties. He wrote 1 or 2 books, best sellers, about his businesses, casinos, mob ties, and various stories. He tells it point blank, who and why, killed JFK, RFK, and Monroe. And no one has tried to sue him from the Monroe estate or the Kennedys, because they know every word he said, is true! And they dont want him spilling his guts off, in open court! Type in here, carlo from godfather, tells mob stories! The hit on Sonny, they guy that designed the hit and all the exploding blood speefs, he said, he never put so many creepy ass blood spleefs on anyone ever before! A masterclass of comedy writing, movie was made in the 90s as a semi parody of this movie, well woth watching. Starring Vito, Clemenza from part 2, and Matthew Broderick called, The Freshman. Well worth watching! The movie guy's story is partially true. Frank Sinatra was a huge star in the 30s and 40s but wanted to break into acting, and in good parts but his star was fading. He and his crew started hanging out with huge mob people. They were known as The Rat Pack. Dean, Him, Peter, Sammy, and Joey. Suddenly frank gets parts in 2 of the biggest movies ever....From Here to Eternity and The Manchurian Candidate! Vito was better than Michael, because he was a family man first, before he was a boss. And this is one series, where part 2 is better than 1!!!
