You forgot the WORSE part about the akilli smith pick... The saint's DESPERATE for Ricky Williams offered ALL 7 of their draft picks to Cincinnati, and the BUNGLES DECLINED!
Fun fact- The colts didn’t know who they wanted to draft first overall-Manning or Leaf. So they had them take a psych eval. Manning tested as someone with strong leadership characteristics, drive, and maturity. Leafs eval read like a punch list of things you don’t want in a nfl player. Immaturity, aggression, anger isssues, not a team player. The colts gm looked at this and ignored it. They were going to draft Leaf first. The only reason they didn’t? Leaf didn’t want to go to Indianapolis. He wanted to be close to the beach. So he snubbed them at workouts. At number two he is possibly the worst pick in nfl history. But it was that close to being even worse.
@Fries by many accounts Leaf was physically the more impressive prospect. Peyton Manning was viewed as a can't miss prospect sure, but so was Leaf. Leaf had all the physical tools and honestly had a better arm than Peyton when it came down to it. It just goes to show that measurables truly don't matter that much for a QB. Sure they have to have SOME physical traits but, this idea they need to look great in shorts is so ridiculous and it's still prevelant today. Look at Russel Wilson falling to the 3rd round despite so many scouts saying he was (as a prospect) every bit as good as RG3. Drew Brees proved shorter QBs could make it in the NFL and they still doubted Wilson.
@Fries Yes Brees was considered to short, he was rejected by Texas and then all the big schools because he was short. College and nfl used to place alot of importance on height and other weird stuff. Like for instance, Romo was undrafted and overlooked because of small hands.
@Fries I think Brees is just 6 foot or 5'11" but Yuki makes a great point he wasn't 6'5 or 6'6" like Manning or Leaf. I think Brees is better than Wilson and I am a Seahawks fan. Not sure what round Brees was drafted in.
Colts dodged a bullet on that one. Just looking at the college careers Manning should have been an overwhelming favorite before they even played a down in the NFL. Leaf wanted to party Manning wanted to get to work. You can see who is the HOF'er and who is the bust.
Damn, that makes me sad to know how close my Chargers were to getting Manning. Definitely should have won a superbowl with Manning, LT, and Gates. Rivers is great but just couldnt pull it off.
Meme name aside, Barry is very honest, but also respectful of sensitive issues like the Ruggs incident. This has been a pleasant channel to find. Keep up the great work
Also something to note about Akili Smith, the Saints offered their entire draft that year and future firsts to trade up and grab Ricky Williams. But for some reason the Bengals turned down an offer they can't refuse.

A.J. Jenkins, in my opinion, is one of the biggest draft bust in NFL history. He had zero catches in his first season, even know he was healthy. Plus, he was placed on and off the practice squad during his first year with the 49ers. I think he only had six catches during his playing time with the 49ers. It's such a shame though. He was really good in his final college season.
"In Stegent's defense, he suffered a knee injury in his first preseason game." If a player's performance was the direct result of a serious injury (as Stegent's was) can he really be considered a "worst pick"? In most cases, injuries are just bad luck; hurt rarely equals bad, and rating players rarely involves predicting injury. There are exceptions when a team knowingly drafts a guy in bad shape or with a serious injury history, but other than that, bad _results_ should be distinguished from bad _picks._
His ranking is based off of the value of the pick, not the skill of the player. Rewatch and count how many were busts bc of injuries that shortened their career, and let's not forget ruggs and carruth who were turning out to be pretty decent players and not a bust before commiting felonies
@@croatiancowboy Being bad overall because you were a colossal piece of shit and screwed yourself up is massively, massively different from the four or five players here that have stories like "got paralyzed during their first season" or "had to have surgery that got botched, ending their career" or "didn't even get to play a game before a serious injury ended their career". There's no way you can control that. You could not be a humongous idiot and doom yourself, you can't just not get wrecked by outside forces.
Before watching; gonna guess Derek Sherrod is it for 32. EDIT: Really upset there wasn't detail about his situation. He broke his tibia and fibula in a game his rookie year and was rushed into emergency surgery. Next year he was on the PUP list and found out complications with the surgery caused him problems with his ankle, leaving him unable to bear weight on it. This also required surgery. Missed his entire second year recovering from that. He did eventually come back in his third year but he was never the same. Packers waived him, got picked up by Kansas City and eventually waived. When Sherrod was waived, the Packers offensive line coach praised him by saying: "That kid persevered through a bad injury and as far as I'm concerned, I don't care where that kid goes, he's a Packer...he gave everything he could, and I love the kid."
If I remember correctly, the Broncos never saw Gregory before the draft, it was all based on word of mouth, he was listed at 6'1", but when he showed at training camp he was only really about 5'9".
I genuinely had no idea about Dan Campbell and I have been sitting here in tears over that, I feel like the fact that he’s not talked about at all could be a short video waiting to happen.

You mentioned doing more historical videos - why not grade every first round draft pick and/or draft class of the Philadelphia Eagles - your favourite team? It's tough do something for every single team so do the one you know. Might even inspire other folks to grade their teams and might learn some more history from that.
There always two things I wait for when it comes to Barry's suck videos: how long he takes him to mention Cleveland and how long it takes him to mention Brady.
To be fair to Derek Sherrod he did suffer a devastating leg injury that he never recovered from. However, before the injury he was really developing into a very good offensive lineman. Since there's only been 12 or 13 drafts were pick 32 was in the first round I guess there isn't a lot to choose from. If Sherrod's career hadn't been derailed by injury my pick would be Anthony Gonzalez, WR from Ohio State drafted with the 32nd pick in the 2007 draft. In a class loaded with talent across the board, in his 4 year career he managed 99 receptions for 1,300 yards and 7 touchdowns. Picked after Gonzalez were Pro Bowler WRs Sidney Rice, Steve Smith (not Steve Smith Sr. who played for the Ravens and Panthers), and Jacoby Jones. GB WR James Jones, while drafted in the 3rd round in the same draft, ended up with 433 receptions, 5900 yards, and 51 touchdowns. Laurent Robinson also drafted in the 3rd round ended up with 167 receptions for 2,110 yards and 15 scores. Mike Sims-Walker, also drafted in the 3rd round ended up with similar career numbers as Robinson. Notable players drafted after Gonzalez - LB Paul Posluszny, S Eric Weddle, TE Zach Miller, CB Chris Houston, C Ryan Kalil, T Marshal Yanda, T Jermon Bushrod, S Dashon Goldson, FB Le'Ron McClain, K Nick Folk and Mason Crosby. Hall of Famers (or future Hall of Famers) coming out of the first round of the 2007 draft are WR Calvin Johnson, T Joe Thomas, RB Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch, LB Patrick Willis, and CB Darrelle Revis. Pro Bowlers and All-Pros also coming out of the first round of that draft were S LaRon Landry, S Michael Griffin, S Reggie Nelson, WR Ted Ginn Jr., S Brandon Meriweather, LB Jon Beason, TE Greg Olsen, WR Dwayne Bowe, T Joe Staley, LB Anthony Spencer, CB Leon Hall and Aaron Ross, and LB Lawrence Timmons.

Yep, Gabe Rivera. In fact, on his deathbed (according to NFL video), Steelers owner Art Rooney on his deathbed said among these final words to his son who had taken over the Steelers: "You should have drafted Marino!" Certainly he would have continued the Steeler dynasty...and had Shula fired the D Coordinator (forgot his name) in the mid-80s, who couldn't put together the kind of D's that 70s DC had, then Miami's dynasty might have been revived. No Tony mandarich ? I guess he did play a couple years but for what the packers could of had is haunting.
Luke Joeckel, Greg Robinson, Robert Gallery and Jason Smith are up there for pick 2 as well. Never draft OTs second overall I guess?
Nobody's beating Ryan Leaf for the worst 2nd overall pick.
2nd overall curse
That is ONE thing Detroit Lions fans can hold over Green Bay...they passed on BARRY!!! LMFAO!!!
Hey barry, you should do a video about every super bowl winners strongest trait. Like the 2000 ravens and their defense, tom brady and his luck, etc. and a little covering what made that part of the team so good
Ryan Leaf been real quiet since Zach Wilson dropped
Can you tell what’s ur background music Barry ?
The EMBRACE THE SUC always gets me haha
Honey wake up, Barry uploaded.
6:07 Henry Ruggs was sentenced to 3-10 years in prison last month.
“Who knows, Eat Arby’s”
lol ok I was wondering why Lawrence Phillips wasn't your #6 but yes, the argument for Campbell is pretty strong.
read ryan leaf’s letter to my past self, really helped me reframe the guy in my mind. HORRIBLE qb and former jackass but that letter changed my life
this is wonderful, do it with the NBA
12:30 “for some reason” sums it all up
I’m genuinely surprised that none of the Lions picks from the 2000s made it on this list, because they were awful!
Will you do this for the NBA?
We need more NBA content Barry🙏🏾🙏🏾
Great content
Literally was just watching a bunch of ur vids lmaooo
Good vid barry
Is there subliminal Arby’s advertising in these 🤣
Crazy that Jamarcus Russels total touchdowns and total interceptions in his whole career were reached by Dante Culpepper in one season.
Its always "unfair" to call players busts whose careers were ruined by injuries. Thats life of NFL football. Some survive, many not... Busts shall be solely rated on performance (or better say the lack of it)... Billy Cannon and co do not qualify.
Anyway, like the vid.
Isaiah Wilson isn’t even a funny bust, dude had so much potential…
BUT 6 FUCKING PLAYS ON YHE FIELD FOR OUR FIRST ROUND PICK BEFORE WE TRADED HIM FOR A 7TH ROUND PICK SWAP?!?
I'm surprised you picked Leo Hayden over Todd Marinovich at #24
For a franchise that's been so prasied for thier drafting the last 50 years, it's amazing The Steelers are on this list twice.
Usually I don't watch the worst picks videos, because I recognize close to none of the names and the wow factor is gone. But I do like this one alright
Some picks that come to mind are Steve Little PK/P St.L. James Fitzpatrick San Diego OT , Todd Marinovich QB LA Raiders, Darnell Russell Oakland DT.
Darrell Russell had a strong start to his career, but substance abuse eventually took his life in a car accident.
I was really expecting Roger Vick to make it on this list. As a side note I wonder what Tony Manadarich gets Ryan Leaf for Christmas every year.
@Fries You make a valid point, and Sport Illustrated also featured him on the cover of their magazine leading up to that draft. It certainly raised his expectations, maybe to a level he could never meet.
Im a simple man, I see a Barry video, get high and watch it.
Art S (don’t ask me to spell that last name) did have a successful Arena Football career, winning a couple of championships with the Detroit Drive. So there’s that.
Imagine drafting a kicker first round and still not making worst pick
The Raiders drafted a kicker and a punter in the first round. In different years, of course. And both players had very good careers.
I was looking at diet plans for Mac Jones before I saw this post
Surprised Paxton Lynch missed this list, but oh well, awesome list anyways!
I dont think some of these count. Injuries shouldnt make someone a bad pick. Drugs, drunk driving, abuse all should. But getting paralyzed or blowing out your knee shouldnt make you a bad pick imo.
This made my day especially after finding my rookie Jamarcus russel card
I’m surprised at how many crazy stories there are with these busts
@@MikeBNumba6 what’s the story behind that?
Side note: Every time I see the Drive game I swear it looks Rick Karlis missed the OT kick against the Browns. It looks like he missed left.
yay more Barry videos
I bet Mr. Leaf must be pretty stoked to no longer be the worst draft bust of all-time. He strikes me as the kind of guy that would take pride in something like that.
