It does work well. That said when I aim it at my pet to train all my other pets freak out. I have 2 small dogs and 2 cats. So yes it gets all there attention. For the price compared to others it does work. So I’m gonna try using it again.
Yes, I have forgotten about others in the room, myself, when using the device. When training, though, I try to eliminate distractions and isolate the dog I'm working with to keep them focused. They tend to track better when they are isolated with me and it will keep the other pets from unnecessary exposure to the sound. Thanks so much for sharing your experience thus far, Jose!

On the "chirp" setting, it is designed to get their attention or remind them to follow your instructions. On the full-blown ultrasonic setting, it pumps out for a longer period, making their ears very uncomfortable and they turn away. When I use it on dogs that are aggressive toward one another, they both stop and turn away, but may get in a few barks after I do it once. It's a disrupter and a deterrent, so if they are adamant, they may still trot along behind you and bark, but they keep their distance to avoid discomfort. Some dogs quit and go away, while others are just deterred are less assertive in their approach, due to extreme discomfort. Either way, they are very effective for training or for keeping aggressive dogs at bay. Stopping short of pepper spray or mace, it is most effective within 16 feet. Always keep your face toward approaching aggressors until or unless they go away, entirely. If you show them your back, they are hard-wired to gain their confidence back. I hope this helps.

She has been in business for many years and runs a very tight ship. I was visiting her one day and she was raving about it and used it on two dogs who were after each other in a common kennel area when they wouldn't listen and they both snapped right up when she pointed the Frienda at them. It was like they couldn't even hear her until she used it. One of them just laid down on the floor and turned his head away from her while the other retreated to the back of the gated area. First time I saw it, I was like "what the hell is that thing?!!"

I'm sure a lot of them work very well, but at its price point and watching it work the way it did on those two brawling dogs, I didn't see the point in taking a chance on anything else. When I get results I'm not inclined to keep shopping, you know? I'm certain there are devices that are also very effective, but I can't vouch for them, so I just share my own experience.

We always have to consider the possibility that some people may receive ineffective units, but they are few and far between and they can be returned and replaced if there is a problem. The recommendations are clearly written and I think some people just don’t take them seriously and then dislike because they chose willful ignorance over reading the instructions. Either way, exponentially more people have appreciated this device than those who have not. We respect their opinions, but there will always be negative people.

It seems to repel medium dogs well enough but not good enough for large dogs, It seem as though large dogs would ignore the noise if they felt inclined to savage you. It would be better to be able to deter large dogs first and medium dogs instead of small and medium. I suppose it's a matter of getting the hertz right.
Keep in mind, these tools are deterrents. They will slow the dog down, repel them, or make them reduce their advance to give you enough time to get to safety. You will not hear that these keep dogs from attacking you. Even dogs who do attack will be deterred and uncomfortable when you use it. That being said, I have warded off a pitbull with it who was barking and following, but not aggressively attacking. I was walking a Rottweiler and the pitbull was trying to intimidate the her. I took the ultrasonic tool out of my pocket and pointed it at him and he stopped barking and ran about 10 feet in the other direction before barking and following at a greater distance than before. I used it 3 more times and he cowered and trotted off. It’s effective in deterring dogs and amazing for training purposes, so keep it’s purpose in mind rather than the false narrative that it is along the lines of a weapon of some sort. Is not this anti barking device? I bought it for that purpose so that my dog would stop barking when the door bell rings and when people come to visit me inside of my place. Does not it work for that purpose as well?
It will not do damage to them, no. The frequency is too low, but it is uncomfortable enough to make them respond. Even so, I would never recommend abusing the tool. We love our pets, so unless you are cruel, you will use it as intended and not to harass them.

Donna WILLIAMS Yes, those three modes are sufficient for their purpose. Controlling the intensity is not an issue because they are not made designed to be able to damage dogs’ ears. There are devices with lower intensity options because they are cheaper or use less powerful because they use lower voltage batteries. Basically, there isn’t really a need to worry about hurting or damaging your pups’ ears.
It works on my 2 cats and one small dog except my other small dog it’s 50/50 on her. I use it on her as well as Commands but she’s getting it. Thank you.
It does, yes. I would recommend working on using treats first with cats, because the ultrasonic sound may make them flee and not want to come near you unless they understand that you need something from them first. On the other hand, if they are on the counter or into something you don't want them into, it's a perfect deterrent when they don't heed your voice.
My apologies for the delay in response, Christopher. I paid $17.99 for this device. I still has the original battery in it and I bought it on April 19, 2019. I used it several times a month, as needed and it has aged very well!
In part, one of the more convenient functions of the device is that it can deter an aggressive dog from advancing or barking at you, but I don't really have any aggressive dogs accessible, so I just stuck with demonstrating their initial reaction to the sound. Whether they are calm or irate it causes discomfort to their ears and they tend to react the same...they shun the sound and cower away. The only time I ever used it was on a trail that past a residential yard. I used it when a dog followed along the other side of the fence barking at my dog. It caused him to whine and cower away. Only after he departed 15-20 feet did he resume barking from a safe distance, but he kept his distance. Very effective.
This is cool, but I feel kinda bad about it and I worry about the safety of the dogs ears with it being so cheap. But shock collars barely hurt and they're very effective, so maybe it's the same with this. They're literally $3 on AliExpress

Remember, this device can help with training for your own dog as well as keep more aggressive dogs at bay, if needed. A shock collar can clearly help in a similar way, but this tool is also a humane defense mechanism for unwanted advances for aggressive dogs. Yes, everything is cheap on AliExpress, but the shipping times are not even close unless you can find a distributor in the States. No impossible by any means, but we largely shop Amazon and Walmart for good reason. Either way, this thing has been amazing over the past year or so for me.
Also, as a human being with compassion, using your own judgment in regard to how long you choose to lay on the ultrasonic button is directly related to how much discomfort an animal may endure, so you do have control over this factor. It should be used as a tool and not as a torture device.
