Imagine a SOCOM today with crossplay and a creator mode, infinite maps and battles.
That would be incredible, Sony would never listen to their fan base.

I played this game wayyyyy back on release in 2008 all the way until the servers got shut down. Some serious memories playing this back in the day man wow
Oh I feel that! I didn't put in as much time into Confrontation as I did SOCOM 2 and Combined Assault, but it's still nice to go back and experience the nostalgia!

I'm glad I got to enjoy SCON during the "honeymoon phase" because I remember it being like this back in server days. I knew it was only a matter of time.
Yeah I often times think back to how much fun I had in the first few months of the revival, those days were amazing

I get vote constantly just for a joing a game, I get told to leave for their butt buddies. Pretty much the same 8v8 every night, sooo fucking stale
Oh man, I hate to see that, it really pisses me off tbh. I hate when a person lies to someone and says oh our buddy just left and you took their spot so leave, when their buddy was never there in the first place, I call people out for the BS. I've had people try to pull it on me and I tell them to go f*** themselves

Reminds me when I had like 15 kills on socom 2 when I was like 12. The second place guy turned our whole team against me so I'd get kicked and he'd be top frag. That was the one bad thing about the vote to kick feature. Asshokes could always abuse that shit
People camp way harder in this game now and it just ruined it for me. The game was perfect before snake brought back specialized weapons and ranks. After that this games just devolved into people sitting back with a tilly and spamming grenades.
I agree, when it was first revived I had a ton of fun, people played more loosely and just enjoyed the game for what it was, now it's gone back to being known for camping like it was back in the server days and it's really disappointing.
I would love it if ranked never came back, also no Tilly shooting me should be great lol
I recently got back into SCON via RPCS3 for PC and I played a few games and enjoyed it for what it is and for what it was back in the day I find the game enjoyable enough even if the emulator has some rendering issues but I know we all wish Sony to make another SOCOM game but I don’t think Sony has the balls to do it.
I'm glad you're enjoying it, the emulator has gotten a lot better recently with the rendering, hopefully they keep it up! I don't believe in Sony anymore, if they do anything it'll be a great surprise to me.
@@RazorDak92 Agreed Sony prolly gave up on it because SOCOM 4 didn't sell well they should've supported SCON a little bit more or made a SCON 2 just with better left leaning and leaning while throwing grenades and kept the sound design the way it was in the original but nah we got SOCOM 4 instead, but I think I've played the beta for SOCOM 4 and at the time I stuck with it since it was the newer game despite many people going back to SCON.
These old socom games were great back then but I want socom now!! New, updated graphics, new maps, new modes. Just NEW but socom. I play all these old games but they are done now in all honesty
I agree, I think the best thing would be to take say, SOCOM 2 or Confrontation, and just polish them. Better graphics, fix bugs, better servers, better hit detection, things like that and we would be happy! I also understand that there would likely be some new things to appeal to newer gamers but as long as they don't get ridiculous I'm good with some give and take, as long as I feel like I'm playing SOCOM.
@@RazorDak92 Would just be nice to have a fresh socom back. Honestly I've played H Hour and Task Force and Honestly socom 1 and 2 feel better than both of them game. Need a good quality socom now, none of these bad remakes. Something that looks good and feels good. That builds that same community that we use to have
I absolutely agree to all of those, would be nice to have a fresh Socom, and that H-Hour and Task Force don't feel as good as Socom 1 and 2 even today. H-Hour doesn't compare to Socom 1 and 2 even in 2022, and Task Force the only reason I would say that is any comparison is because I am significantly better on keyboard and mouse now and Task Force let's you do that, but overall doesn't feel as Socom as the actual games.
I absolutely loved this game. Played the hell out of 1,2&3 but like many was very disappointed with 4. This was a welcome return to form for the series. However In its later stages I found the remaining player base to be very toxic and unwelcoming to loan players who didn’t run in clans. I was often kicked from rooms for no apparent reason and on the odd occasions actual asked to leave to make way for other clan members. Once I was even accused of being a hacker purely because I had no clan tag 🤷♂️. Eventually the team let me stay in the game lobby on a trial bases so they could assess if I was cheating. I’d explained I wasn’t a hacker and had no clan tag because I liked to play alone.
I agree with a lot of what you said, I find the smaller the player base becomes the more it consists of toxic try hard players who think they're better than everyone else and nobody wants to play with them, and they wonder why they don't get new players.
I hate people who ask people to leave for their buddies or friends, if they're nice about it then that's fine but often times people BS a new joiner and say hey you took the spot of my friend who left to come back, can you leave? That really pisses me off and I call people out on it.
Some people are ridiculous, thinking you're a hacker because of no tag? I think they were just being ridiculous.
My dad got me this game when I was like 5. He got it on ps3 and he also had a copy for ps2. I have no idea how to play it or which versions I have
I did call it though ...once I heard ranking system was coming back,I KNEW it would hurt the game and its community. It was find not seeing how great someone was at the game,and joining ..but now,no one wants to go into a room and see one whole side stacked with 2:1 or 3:1 players. It just isn't fun. I'm a legitimate 2:1 myself,and will or used to go on the weakest side to try help balance it out,but no one does that anymore. It just deters players from even joining or playing.
Yeah it's unfortunate, having a ranking system and stat tracking is great for a large community based game but a small community it just gets out of hand with people trying to have the best stats. I'm a semi-decent player and I hate being on a stacked team, I'd rather be on a losing team and have a close game than be on a winning team at 6-0, there's no fun in that.
The community does unfortunately hurt itself by making it so difficult for a new player returning to the community to play because nobody wants to come back and be getting beaten up pretty bad while having these "pros" being toxic or stacking teams. It just causes the community to dwindle down until it's all sweaty players remaining.

If you guys are afraid of playing ranked, or don't wanna play with tryhards. You should look for Rooms called KNOCCS or M*A*S*H*. Custom rooms, no repsawn SC and CF medley and play with the [ISS] clan. We're accepting to all new people and have a strict stance on toxicity in the room. Look for us for a fun time
Yeah and I appreciate that! I sometimes play in the Knoccs room or MASH, or I make a unranked no boom room which can be a ton of fun. ISS is a great clan because they're so welcoming and against toxicity! I love it

I did play a few in those rooms, I just dislike medleys. Not a big fan of them. If yaw made SC or CF demo's,supr or elim I'd be more eager to join those,but appreciate it non the less for making those rooms..
I always said that Confrontation was doomed at the hands of those "Officers"
It was never set up right from the start or for the "Socom Community" as they claim. Too much moderation and too much private access club bs going on. Either let people play the game or don't. I'm so tired of this "well we get to decide who does and doesn't get to play" no, I should be able to host my own server and play with friends. Period.

I’m with u on that camping with the bomb stuff man that pisses me off
It's so frustrating, I think it's not as bad nowadays as it was a year ago. There was a period of time where in the community on maps like Kasbah the Merc team would always grab the bomb then climb up the left ladder and camp there, it was so annoying! I hate being held hostage for 5 minutes at a time.
I remember when SOCOM 4 dropped, I tried out the online.. so much worse than Confrontation.
OMG I'm actually worse than that, it sounds like you realized immediately. I was in denial, I played the beta and was so caught up in the hype that Zipper was back that I was in the Forums praising them and the game, I played the game on release for several months before the day the glass shattered on my reality that S4 was dog shit.
Not having the DLC that a lot of people had and some people could not even purchase it…
Yeah it's unfortunate, if you don't have Cold Front the only ways to get it are by sharing with someone or by using HEN.

It's still fun but less players means less variety of lobbies and only one or two lobbies up to pick from. It's even worse on PS2 Socoms. They have even less players on.
Yes I agree, the less variety of players makes it harder to find casual people to play with without having to try so hard which makes the game not so fun, when Scon first returned in January 2021 I had a blast playing it, but now not so much. The PS2 Socoms do tend to have less people but Socom 2 does well, right now it has about 40+ on which is not bad

Very well put, Razor! Kudos on this video. I agree wholeheartedly on everything u stated, especially the moderators! I personally left because certain moderators wanted us to stop playing custom private matches and join the server ranked rooms! We all had fun playing together in unranked rooms. We did have a password to use to get in,so basically everyone or most knew each other ...we did this to keep out the so called "cheaters" or ones who would camp a bomb plant the whole round to win by drawing the last game. I understand to a degree if it's 5 or 6 on 1, but in that case,just don't pick up bomb,let other team try to play who has #s and defend plant accordingly. We even opened the room up at certain peak times to public so they could join,but it just made lots people quit due to the possibility of someone cheating. I'll log on every now and then to see what's all going on,rooms to play,but I just can't seem to feel the need to play in my opinion because it's just not the same as 9 months ago. I really do miss playing,and hope to see this community grow,or at least grow the the 200 + nights it once geld. Thank u for supporting Socom confrontation...and thank u Snake for bringing this once relic game back to life!!!

Yeah when ranked rooms first came out I remember a push to play them but I preferred the custom rooms because I disliked the rotation of the ranked rooms also people caring about their stats got frustrating leading to either sweaty players or people camping and drawing out rounds which was dumb.
I remember large rooms that were PW only, it would be nice to lock out the toxic players or people who just want to draw out rounds, that gets so annoying.
I miss how fun this was in January 2021, it was so casual and everyone was just happy to be here and didn't care about how they performed, I remember when it started turning towards clans and sweats taking over, not good.

My opinion is they ruined the game when Socom4 and battlefield was just to cool of a game to pass on.
I think you're dead on, SOCOM 4 was clearly what ruined the game, it might've been on life support after Confrontation with the bugs it had but SOCOM 4 was like the nail in the coffin.
Battlefield was great, I still love it however am disappointed in BF2042 but I have heard they mostly corrected their mistakes so I might check that out again at some point.
after people had to link sign in to the PlayStation website to get a secure sign in code I noticed there weren't 200+ players. roughly 30 players right after the mandatory password update.
I think that the PSN update for that was pretty late in the revival but I'm sure it had some impact
@@RazorDak92 The update didn't have same week hot fix for all of the modded PS3, and I happened to have a system capable of a format to official sony non modded to a full hardware mod, just due to my consoles age & the lowest firmware capable is exploited with java script leading to the installation of unsigned code running online without any ban hammer

Oh dang, well if you're feeling adventurous there's other ways to get a digital copy onto your PS3, you just have to google it and do some things to your PS3. Or if you have a gaming PC you can now play it on emulator

I agree with that, I think that a lot of people feel that way, I'd say it started with S3, S3 was still good but it started the games where they were clearly chasing other games, like S3/CA were like Battlefield and S4 was like COD

There's always rumors but never any substance to them so I don't believe them anymore, I don't have any faith in Sony anymore. I hope they do it, I just don't have any belief that they will.

You can! We have a lot of people who regularly play Socom 2, and there's a group of people who play Combined Assault all the time.
You can play on a PS2, backwards compatible PS3, Steam Deck, Next-gen Xbox, or PC! I play on PC and so does most of the community, you still use a controller though, and it's completely free.
Just re release the same game on newer PlayStation. Multiplayer games lifespan is different now days

Well I don't have a PC, and I revived my PS3 and confrontation to get on and play. Razor you said how to get on is in the description but there's nothing I can see. I'm an OG socom 1 release day player. I would love to play any socom. Even better, I wish Sony would bring back the Socom games into the greatest hits stream list. I don't understand what their Hate for Socom is. But if you can help me get online that would be great. Nvm found the instructions lol. Had an airhead moment

The community is extremely toxic rather than being welcoming its hilarious if your not good or at least decent all they do is talk shit to you, one of the rules in the discord is you cant have people leave rooms yet theres multiple people ive watched stream who are in discord with there clan and or friends who will ask people to hop in and out so they can have people switch side which does make sense you wanna play with your friends i get it but rather than save there spot they proceed to laugh about how the person who left sucked and tell there friends to join right away
This right here is something the "Mods" will ban people for but its clear that the so called "mods" like to play favorites for people
Same goes for S3/CA community
That is the worst part tbh, I HATE a community that isn't accepting of newcomers, that completely kills a community because it never grows.
That is one of my biggest pet peeves in Scon, clan side stacking and booting people out for their buddies, unreal.

That's not good! They've been making some mod changes but I haven't checked into that Discord in a while so I'm not sure what the current state is
Sadly people still cheat after the hard work they put in to get the game back up
That's unfortunate, I remember when the server first was revived in January 2021 and there was a lot of people who were cheaters back in the day and they were so excited it was back. Those players did get banned but I don't know if the anti-cheat is out of date now and people have figured out ways around, or if something happened, but it's sad regardless.
Not sure why anyone would want to relive this game anyway. Was terrible back then, and is terrible now

I'm not upset, but I would define myself as a more casual player and when the game was revived in January 2021 it was a more casual experience but as time went on the community dwindled down from 700+ players to less than 100 and what happened was the casual players - such as myself - were sort of driven away because if you're not investing all the time to be a "pro" player then you're just getting crushed.
Don't be confused, I love SOCOM because it is a hard game, it doesn't spoon feed you like COD or other games, you have to work for it. Good players are good for a reasons.
The point of this video was an explanation of what happened to SOCOM Confrontation and my talking points were primarily from the community and my observations, I was here the day it was revived and have met a ton of great people and have seen a lot of people who left for many reasons, I've been playing relatively consistently these past few weeks and have been having a good time so I'm not fearful of the game being too hard, it's a fun game, I also play all of the SOCOMs as you probably noticed so I'm not mad that it's "hard" because I think that's what separated it from other games.
I also don't understand what you mean by I'm upset that people like the game, obviously I'm glad people like the game why would that upset me? I spend way too much time trying to grow the community and bring in new players, why would I bet upset that people enjoy the game?

@@RazorDak92 lol, never played mgo. are you ok? socom is trash compared to mgo. only downside to mgo is the basic map design. you wont even find a hill in mgo except one map.
When you say MGO does that include MGS4 Online as well? Or was that just MGO? I played that and I really enjoyed it
