Love your page, i learnt everything i need to know about SketchUp from you. i model my own cabinetry because i do bespoke kitchens and bedrooms. nothing that i design is standard and that's all thanks to your good teachings, otherwise i would be using standard stuff downloaded from 3D Warehouse. You are the man!!!
All those hours I spent making multiple doors with multiple fancy panels on them... 🙄😆😂 ...embarrassing. Thank you, J! You're awesome!! I'm fond of deleting surfaces that won't be needed like the tops and backs of those cabs. Otherwise, it makes more drama when trying to cut for a sink. IDK which is more trouble. Making sure _everything_ is a "solid" or 'splode and "intersect with model"...etc. Both seem to need multiple steps. Maybe I just need more practice with Solids.... 7:59 I'm having trouble dragging subs into parents lately in the Outliner. IDK what the problem is, but much of the time it doesn't go where I want it and it ends up getting so tangled up that I have to "undo" several times to fix it and sometimes I just give up. It doesn't have one of those lines telling me where it's going like my previous version of SU.
Really depends on how the model was created. Usually a cutlist is just an exported list of the groups / components in the model, so if it's been set up in a way that it exports the objects in a readable manner, you could use it as a cutlist. In this specific instance I find it unlikely though
Kraftmaid cabinets are really well modelled. Most are dynamic and the geometry is kept to a minimum but still looks great in renderings. I wish I had found them a while ago but at least I'm using them now. :)
@@Thesketchupessentials Love your videos! Can you answer some questions in your comment section though? How do you edit size, materials, shape, etc of downloaded components?
Hi. Is it possible to resize downloaded cabinets from warehouse but some of them have no dynamic components - so then how can we resize. thanks for your amazing channel
after making the model example kitchen cabinet can we get data of the materials like dimension of the parts or a component so I know how many boards are to be used for that model?
Hi everyone! Let me know your cabinet modeling tips in the comments below! :)

Great tips.
Question about the 3D warehouse… if you import something like you did from Kraftmaid can you create a cutlist from that?

Thanks a lot, good little pointers

What Starr dust said! How do you edit materials and sizes of download components!?
This is so helpful. Just want to know do you also record Autocad tutorials?
Very informative! Thanks.
Can u recommend a tutorial to get started with aluminium extrusion profiles modelling in sketchup for making cabinet/stool/bed. TIA.
Hey is there a way to get proper dwg for autocad from sketch up? Like having layers , line weights, not a million weird dots etc?
Great video a bit fast for me, you make it look so easy
THE BEST TIP !
Would you please do a video on components and groups, their benefits, how it works and maybe even what they should not be used as or for.
