as a newer ipad musician I am very grateful for all of your videos and insights. you explain everything in a thorough yet easy to understand way. please make more masterclass videos like this one. heading over to the super saw video now.
I would definitely enroll in a synths and sound class with you as a teacher. This has become one of my favorites videos. Please keep on doing this great contributions to the world of music lovers and creators "in the making". Big thanks.
Thanks very much for this Jakob! As an EWI player, for almost every lead sound that I play, I rely on a filter mapped to cc2 (breath pressure) in order to give the sound a bite that doesn't just get louder as I blow harder, but also more intense. Your tutorial here has helped me get an even better grip on my understanding of the different types of filters and how the parameters on them affect the sound. I'll be putting this knowledge to work as I experiment with tweaking existing EWI synth patches and designing new ones!
I watched the whole video in one sitting. I’m going to watch it several more times. You have taught me how to use the model D synth on my MPC Live II, how to use my Sonicware LoFi-12 (with the oscillator sample sysex files from Chris Lody), and how to use my Sirin. I’m saving a copy of this locally (using my paid UA-cam account and iOS app). You have gifted me the ability to make my own lead/pad sound that is what I want, and not just a copy. You have given me the ability to experiment and not be afraid. To understand enough to be able to try a new thing. Please do another class like this. You are a masterful teacher. You made me comfortable with not knowing. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the praise! But I do not deserve any praise regarding videos about MPC Live II, LoFi-12 or Sirin. I’ve never made any videos about those devices, I don’t even own a single one of them. I’m worried you might have me confused with someone else. 😅😅 I have made the video above though and I’m happy that you found it useful.
@@JakobHaq What you taught me in THIS video, I applied to the Sirin, the Mini D in the MPC and I tried it out on the LoFi-12. You showed how to do things in iPadOS synths, but I tried it on two physical synths and a virtual synth. I’m also trying it on some of the iPad synths you showed, but it worked perfectly well on physical synths… Because you taught the concept and not just how to use an app. THAT’S why the praise. The concept worked as it should have, on real synths…
Wow. Where do I start. 1. Thank you for the time you put in this despite the vocal chords not being 100% 2. This was a great lesson in synth creation. 3. The biggest takeaway for me is to stop running to the App Store every time I see a synth app. I need to jot down your suggestions in this video, pick an app and start practicing with one. Then when I have the fundamentals, I can try other tools in the toolbox and then when I've not found something I need, visit the App Store.
“I still have a weird voice and you’ll just have to deal with it.” = best opening line, feel free to reapply on future videos. Thanks man, always exceptional content. Cheers.
Excellent sound design video ! Respect, great job - you really mentioned liteeally everything to the last detail what needs to be mentioned for this topic !
Hey, this was a video I enjoyed very much. Of course I always like in depth looks even on seemengly trivial topics, because they aloww me to change my perspective and I always end up having learned something. Thank you for making this video and so many others.
Brilliant video Jakob - one of your best! I liked it all - and would love a video on Lfo’s. I am always hunting for apps that have super slow lfo settings to modulate simple sounds very gradually. Thanks 🙏
These warm pad sounds remind me of an old track by Elton John… Funeral For A Friend. Used to listen to it over and over. Thanks Jakob. This was relatively easy to follow for me ✨👍🏼✨
Shaper Synth is one of those deceptively simple synths which have so much to offer. I'm still sort of annoyed that so many iOS synth developers have chosen to not have their synths on macOS also, since in many cases it's a relatively simple "checkbox" change on their part, which would then allow their plugins to work on desktop.
that brass sound from Forever Young is like the holy grail of brass lead sounds hahaha. I had read some things on it ages ago that it was basically created by three different synths originally. there was a huge discussion on KVR about it.
I used to read articles about how a lot of older tracks were made and just drool over the synth lists. Spent like 6 months tracking down a used Jupiter 8 because it was used on Alphavile’s album. 😂😅
Hi you’re a very nice person and your channel is really awesome 👏 . Can I ask you a question? I am a professional pianist/ teacher. I have the best recorder (Nagra) for my recordings but now I’m searching a little device (mixer) especially for live stream WITH iPhone and iPad Pro. I need to have effects and 4 microphones with fantom power…I can choose a for example a Mackie mixer but maybe you have a better advice? Please let me know if you.
I saw a video the other night where they were taking an FM synth (opsix) and running it through some effects pedals to make it sound analog. Got me thinking I should start experimenting with that, taking really digital things and making them sound dirty or analog.
I’ve many times thought about making a video about that topic. I love doing stuff like that myself. I used to produce music where I made everything sound really old. There’s so many techniques one can use.
Hi mate 🧉 very nice video once again,I have problems with latency in Cubasis 3. It’s like 30 ms in a session with just stuck plug-ins and no synths, just audio tracks. Can you tell me how to solve this problem? And how do you deal with latency in order to export your stems on time out of Cubasis please 😉✌️

This such an AWSOME tutorial! Not just fa certain sound, but you explain SO many basics…this is def a must-view for any new synth-head! THANKS! 🍺🍺😍😍
Thank you, Jakob. This was so informative. Please, more specific sound design tutorials.
Such a great vid, Jakob! I appreciate you taking the time to teach more about synthesis…would love to see more❗️
Great video Jakub. You have the heart of a teacher, methinks.
Such a beautiful and helpful lesson. Thanks a million ;)
My pleasure!
I'd forgotten how good Nave Waldorf is!
Thanks for this. In one vid you clarified so many roadblocks I was hitting in my sound designs. Really extraordinary stuff - gracias!
Really enjoyed this splendid tutorial of synthesized lushness! Thank you.

Very nice tutorial and a yummy sound indeed! I can see some experiments with this in my future 😀 Also would love more videos like this.
Thanks Jacob. Great. Learned a lot.
Jakob, I learnt so much from today’s class I thank you so much🙏
Thanks for the other classes as well.
I really enjoyed this video. I would like more video on programming synth sounds.
wonderful video (as ever) - thank you so much
Yes. Your sound design videos are my favorit. Love it . THANKS 😊
Thank you for watching!
Was such a great video man. Kept my attention the whole time. Can’t wait for another masterclass.

Excellent, thoroughly watchable, understandable, really informative- and I don’t even like 80s sounds. Great work Jakob!
Wow….lot to take in.
You know your onions…..Thank you
My feedback: I like this type of video! Please do more :)
I will! 👊
Solid video. Many slightly longer than it had to be but thorough. Thanks 🙏
haha, I know. I even cut out 5 minutes of video to make it shorter. 😅😅 Thank you for watching and thanks for the feedback! 👊

@@Taeodoestech not sure… could be… I listened to it again recently and it just didn’t sound quite how I remembered 🤭

10:18 “so we have more filtering” should be less filtering right?
Cool video. Must try this soon
Aw man, yes you are correct. 😅 I blame “homeblindess”. I’ve worked one this video for over two weeks and I still missed that one.

You say you prefer 12 db filter curve but then you use a Minimoog which has 24 db filter ! 🙃
