I used to live in Memphis and during evenings in the 80s driving on Democrat Road north of the runways, they were coming in on two parallel runways, two abreast and you could see four more coming in behind them. They would also would be taking off to the south and west just a little later. Most of the traffic occurs between about 10 PM to early morning. They only had two N/S runways then. Now there are 3 N/S runways. The takeoffs could be seen driving Shelby Drive on the southside of the airport. Memphis has the second busiest Cargo airport in the entire world. Number 1 and number 3 are in China.
@SteveSabbai Signature required is an option selected upon shipping, actually has a small fee assigned to it for UPS (can't remember, think it's like $2.50) but the majority of people probably aren't home during deliveries, working and all, so it makes sense to not req. sig.
@eddiecanis And by the way Steve, while they can steal your delivery, it's not like a "Finder's keepers" situation.. there are some pretty stiff consequences if caught.
...can someone tell me why the Fedex/UPS delivery drivers cant wait till i open the door BEFORE they drive away!? every time they drop off a box at my house they ring the doorbell then take off leaving my box on my doorstep! luckily most of the time someone is home but there have been a few times where there wasnt noone at home and i come home and see my box sitting by my front door for anyone to steal...is that company policy to leave customers items like that?
SteveSabbai The drivers have a number of deliveries per hour they have to meet or there will be consequences. They only have to wait for you to open the door if you or the shipper payed for delivery with signature. Trust me the driver isn't running up to your house and running back to the truck for fun.

holy crap that's like one landing a minute. just cargo? that's damned busy.
The reason these people get paid so much is ATC work is 50% science and 50% art. The Art part takes 10 years to learn, and a lifetime to master.
That's an astonishing amount of air traffic, holy crap!
One guy at 00:11 seconds is just like fuck it. And flies directly into the heavy rain.

Their motion kinda reminds me of insect motion. I always wondered what would it feel like to be same scale as an insect.
