  • Step inside our milkhouse, where you'll see all the equipment needed for the milking robots to run seamlessly. Say goodbye to manual labor and hello to a new era of dairy farming, where robots take the reins, allowing farmers to focus on other critical aspects of herd management.
    However, no technological advancement is without its challenges. During the tour, we'll discuss the changes we would make if we found ourselves in the building process all over again.
    Whether you're in the planning stages of a new robotic milking barn yourself, are thinking of upgrading your milking equipment, or are genuinely curious about where our country's milk comes from, this video is for you!

    🐮We are Eddy & Lauren - small town dairy farmers in Ontario, Canada - and we are learning alongside you in all things dairy farming! Farmers feed cities, but farmers also need cities to feed and sustain their businesses, so our family is inviting you to join us in our adventure as a thank you for supporting the dairy industry.
    Please come along with us as we share raw highlights, and mishaps, of our simple and imperfect Dairy Farm Kind of Life.

    Hey Lauren, you guys have a beautiful operation all around!!
    I'm curious, are you happy with the step up in your office or would you go higher?

      Thank you! Thanks for watching and commenting. We are happy with it and I don't think we would go any higher because adding a step would lose floor space.

    My family is looking to build a new free stall barn. Can you give us a tour of yours, talking about your clear skylight walls and how you like it and what you'd change?

    Just curious what was the discoloration behind the gea vaccum on demand controller for the vaccum pump? Never seen that before on the wall behind them.

      It looks like some oil residue coming off the little fan that’s in that box on the wall. Getting blown up along wall.

    Do you add peroxide to your milk house water? Could be causing the seeds on the chia to not grow. 🤷🏽‍♂️even water that is through a water softener.

      We do add peroxide and have a softener.
      Are you serious John? Lol

    Could you not just caulk in between the white and black pipe to prevent the dirty water from spilling out?

    • @EddyKoster-st3wb
      @EddyKoster-st3wb 7 місяців тому +1

      It would be worth a try. It never dries as it blasts out frequently. But maybe I could figure something out.

    You said you milk 65 cows currently. Do you plan to expand? I think 2 robots can handle more? I'm not sure how expansion works in Canada though.

    • @EddyKoster-st3wb
      @EddyKoster-st3wb 7 місяців тому +2

      Hello,
      Yes, we figure we can handle 110 on the two robots. You can only grow slowly per year in Canada. So we will get there eventually.

      How many times a day does the milking system wash and does the whole system shut down to wash or each robot wash individually? Also do high producing cows naturally go thru and get milked more times a day than a lower producing cow?

    • @EddyKoster-st3wb
      @EddyKoster-st3wb 6 місяців тому +1

      @@billsauberlich7337 hello,
      The whole system washes twice a day. 2 a.m. and 2 p.m. It takes 30 minutes. Both robots shut down for this wash. They need to both shut down to completely wash all the milk lines going to the cooler.
      And yes, fresher high producing cows tend to go to the robot more often then others. But I do have the cows in 3 groups. High producers being allowed to milk every 5.5 hours and then a group that can go every 6.5 hours and then a group that can go every 9.5 hours. I adjust the groups as to what the cows are milking. Also the robot knows what cow is in what group.
