I think the lesson applies to more than just relationships, I believe. A lot of good people/things come in and out of our lives. The important thing is to keep moving forward. Life is in-front of you, not behind you.
Despite the fact that Eric thought his father wasn't proud of him, he actually was. The reason Red pushed him soo hard was because he knew his son was meant for better things than he was. Red really did care about Eric.
I loved how by the end of Season 5 Red actually said he was proud of Eric and how he stuck to his guns. Eric would've been out of the house by season 6 if it hadn't been for the heart attack... ...but let's not talk about what season 7 and especially 8 did to Eric...

There are three saddest moment when losing someone we love: First is when they dump or reject you. Second is when you see that person for the last time. Third is when you no longer think of that person at all to a point you don't remember well how they really look like anymore.
What's more sad is when they dump you, and tell you they're not wanting a relationship, then they show up at your show 5 days later with their new boyfriend...that was a rough few months
My girlfriend broke up with today, but what red says in this scene helped and I keep rewatching it. I can proudly say That 70s Show is my favorite show too watch
To See Red Express his Break-up 💔 Was Everything Then to me as a Kid after my Little Puppy 🐶 Love. When Eric Says,"It Hurts". 🤕 😢 Miss them Times Early 00's 😞😩😭
Teens are allowed to do this. However they need someone who's of legal drinking age and the teen has a strict limit. I know this because I'm in my 30's and did this for my niece who's boyfriend was caught in bed with another girl,I'll just avoid the annoying long story and just get to my point. I took my niece to numb her pain and it was a family bonding experience.
If you’ve seen the episode, the teens claimed to be US army soldiers when questioned for ID. Probably wouldn’t fly these days, so your point holds, but this was addressed in the episode.
For the first twelve seconds I only noticed, oh hey, they're acting and reacting very naturally, and That 70s Show didn't even cross my mind. The laugh track actually startled me.
Low key though, Red give some really good advice in the scene. Just because you broke up with someone doesn't mean it's the end of the world. Life goes on and tomorrow is a brand new day.
This is sage advice. And all the shows out there to say it, it was That 70s Show. I’ve given this advice to friends before and I’ll probably give it to my kid one day.
cindybin2001 I can’t tell if you’re joking or not. I don’t drink, but it’s kinda weird to get so worked up about people who do, especially as this is not a common occurrence for them.
I remember watching this show as a young man I thought Eric was such a badass. Hot girlfriend, shaggy hair, cool car, a chill place to hang out and get high and drink beer, a good group of friends, and never ending snacks and munchies. Man... watching the same show 20+ years later now that I'm a dad... that shit hits me man. I was Eric but now I'm Red. I live for the day I'm able to have a beer and a man to man conversation with my son. He'll be 5 next year but he's already going on 30. I can't say I parent the same way Red does, but I'm just as proud and I'd give up just as much for my boy as Red does/would. I hope he turns out a million times better than I did.
Didn't have a dad, was raised in poverty, moved to a new school every year, lost confidence, became depressed, had no friends. Now I struggle with my career because I get bouts of depression, I'm single still and often think about suicide. This is the end result of a childhood loaded with bullying, no father, no friends and always being the new kid. Therapists cost far too much and it takes years of work to help someone. Zoloft doesn't seem to be working. Most men commit suicide in their 30s, I can understand why.
Even though they're just acting. I feel like Kurtwood (Red) put some real emotion into this scene. Every man has dealt with this heartbreak before. And he's able to convey it on screen for all of us.
Red was always my favorite TV dad, in that he reminded me of my grandfather. Korean War veteran, GM aficionado, but as my sister once said of him, he had an exterior of an armadillo and the interior of a teddy bear. This is exactly what Arnold would have told me after a breakup.

I never watched That 70’s show except for clips on UA-cam so after Red said he was going to give Eric a few days to pull himself together I was honestly expecting Red to finish that sentence with “then I’m going to put my foot in your ass!”
Red did a great job here, I think he did. He's a hard ass on his kid, tough as nails, fought in Korea, but when your kid falls down a spiraling depression of heartach and misery, he knew it was serious. For men, our biggest weakness is our heart, and when a woman breaks that, it feels as though the world is falling apart. Red knew that Eric needed to sulk, needed to be depressed, because there's no way around it, but he also knew that he can't stay like that, so only giving him a few days until he had to pick himself up and get on the saddle told me the Red trueky understood Eric in that moment. A beautiful scene of a father and his son.
