Nike Streakfly 5k/10k shoe Review

The new 2022 Nike Streakfly shoes are meant to be a 5K and 10K racing shoe. They are Nike’s lightest road shoe but they don’t have a Carbon Fiber plate at all. The shoe size tends to be bigger than other Nike shoes. I had to go down from my normal US men’s size 10.5 to a size 10. In a size 10 the Streakflies weigh 6.5 ounces. A size 10.5 Vaporfly Next percent weighs about 7.2 ounces. A size 10.5 Alphafly weighs 8.2 ounces. Finally a size 10.5 Tempo Next percent weighs 9.8 ounces.
The Streakfly shoes offer much less cushion and rebound than the other shoes I have mentioned. I was not able to sustain my normal speeds in them over the entire 5k. After 1.5 miles I started to feel fatigue that I don’t normally get with the other shoes that offer much more energy return. I also started to get knee pain because the cushioning is so much less than I am accustomed to. I would not recommend the Streakfly shoes even for the 5K. Perhaps they would be good for a road mile but I would rather run 5K and 10k races in the Nike Vaporfly shoes. I regret buying the Streakfly shoes. I will probably never wear them again.

In all likelihood the Vaporfly shoes will do the job better.
