Exactly. There's a very good reason that Stalin is still a symbol of socialism/communism (so, so well deserved), and Trotsky a symbol of anticommunism.
So much for the characterization of an evil dictator who couldn't wait to purge his ideological opponents by blood. And goodness. The impression I get of Trotsky as painted by these refutations of him is of a classic raging narcissist who's only in it for himself. ironically, I met a Trotskyist on the train home three nights ago. We had a very pleasant hour-long discussion about student and union organizing (and complaining about liberals and anarchists.)
"referring to the rights that keep him awake at night" subtly insulting someone as the equivalent of child making up monsters under the bed is so funny to me. The whole document keeps hammering the same point home I usually have to with new comrades. History is not made by singular people and especially not by singular people without any backing or base. When people come in with the myth of Trotsky as the true successor I like to remind them that if Stalin was not already seen as the successor by anyone else he would have been treated the same way as Trotsky if he to tried to claim succession without a base. These people can't help but still see the struggle as their personal chance for heroism so can't do away with the notion of heroes
Yes, and regarding the true successor thing, if anyone wants to compare Lenin's differences with Stalin to his differences with Trotsky, they just aren't on the same level at all. Lenin had minor tactical criticisms of Stalin once in a while. It was never a systematic trashing as he did with Trotsky.
S4a finding specific videos that you did is very hard to find using UA-cam search engines and I am not able to find the video that you did on modern revisionism and how USSR fell into revisionism and was dissolution from socialism to capital. Also another question was China ever able to achieve socialism before deng reformed and opening up
I think the videos you're looking for are in the Sino-Soviet Split playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLXUFLW8t2snvFCw0KGBz6mlaT2XQBtWJ2.html Also, don't use the general UA-cam search. Try hitting the search icon on this channel's menu bar. It still doesn't work perfectly but is a little better. About China building socialism, they were working toward it. People differ on the extent to which they achieved it or not before the capitalist roaders took over. I have more reading to do on that subject.
I think Mao genuinely believed he was on the path to establishing socialism in China but had plenty of revisionist views. He lent alot of support to the capitalist class (nationalisation still compensated the capitalists and allowed them to continue to operate the business, some where allowed into government for being "cooperative"). The ussr offered them help with a planned economy/resources, and they did one 5 year plan that was very successful, but Mao still believed that it wasn't the way to achieve socialism (much like Deng). Basically, the capitalist class was never liquidated because Mao believed he could reconcile the contradictions between capital and labour. Bit of a messy response but that's about what I know.
Another great Stalin work, and great upload of yours. ~41:55 Haha! Yep. ~46:54 Yes! Exactly. Very well said. ~50:54 Nice, apt analogy. Awesome ending, too.
Just a question, is this text a response to any written work of Trotsky in particular? Or is it just against Trotsky in general? Ive been trying to understand the Stalin/Trotsky divide, and would like to do some reading myself on this subject. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
"is this text a response to any written work of Trotsky in particular" Did you listen to it? This and the Kamenev piece are in response to Trotsky's "The Lessons of October" of the same year, which is quoted frequently throughout.
@@SocialismForAll Sorry, I must have missed it. Audiobooks for me are great for getting a general idea of a work, but as I cannot skim the words through I tend to miss out a lot of details. I'll look through the texts, thanks.
I'm still not quite sure, professor comrade, but I understand something: I do not have enough theoretical knowledge to understand the depth of these grievances within the far left - I need to study more theoreticians, and learn more, that is such an essential part of learning. Legitimately, S4A, you're one of the best resources yourself, given your body of knowledge on these issues, and listening to your synthesis of ideas really helps
Great listen! Love refutations like this and Lenin against Kautsky. Also, do you plan on doing an audiobook of "Imperialism: The Highest Stage of Capitalism" by Lenin, sometime in the future?
I’m not sure if you’ve ever read why Marx was right by Terry Eagleton but that’s the book that got me into Marxism. That’s the book that got me into this shit and Breht O’Shea said the same thing. It might not fit the channel that well because it’s newer and not like kind of “mainstream” but it’s really hard not to be somewhat of a Marxist if you read it. It’s a great into for people
Stalin is so fucking correct and I like the simple way he writes
Listening on my lunch break.
Boss probably thinks you're listening to music lol
Stalin > Trotsky. And its not even close
Exactly. There's a very good reason that Stalin is still a symbol of socialism/communism (so, so well deserved), and Trotsky a symbol of anticommunism.
But moustache man bad! TV said so!
Done. Once again my understanding of Marxism-Leninism has been greatly enriched by the audiobooks on this channel. Thank you Comrade.
Thanks for the upload
We are ready indeed thanks to your work comrade Staline and comrade s4a !

Yep, all of the facts and history demonstrate that first part to be complete BS. The facts and history also completely support the second part, haha.
@@slipknotboy555 Trostky had more friends in Western press than Stalin.
