La grâce souriante, la nature et les couleurs du Japon ont offert au compositeur Giacomo Puccini une merveilleuse inspiration pour la partition de son opéra, d’un extrême raffinement et d’un charme puissant. Cette partition teintée d’exotisme n’en est pas moins traversée par le souffle du drame, celui d’une toute jeune fille de Nagasaki qu’on marie à un marin Américain de passage pour qui cette union n’est que fantaisie.

Wow, this is a great live performance. I learned a little bit of french in high school (I'm from Portugal), but then I learned a little bit of Italian on my own, because I could not listen to Opera and not understand what they were saying. This rendition I feel is pretty good, I'm not a native French or Italian speaker (again, native Portuguese here) but I am so inspired by this.
The consul character is absolutely exquisite - I know it's not the main role but it's what I always pictured an older man bring about - so great!
Truly, thank you so much for this share, I feel awesome after watching this :) There is truly nothing better than a live performance of Opera. Your life becomes aware of it.

Karah Son should be nominated for the best actress and singer for the Academy Awards, and Manuela Custer the best supporting Actress, Angelo Villari the best Actor and singer and Marc Scoffoni, the best supporting actor 👍💖. This film should be the best film of the year 👍👍👍.

Magnifique Butterfly ❤ des sons, attaqués sans ports de voix, un phrasé legato et une justesse parfaite ❤❤❤ le ré bémol attendu dans l’air du premier acte 😍
Alla fine delle romanze e dei duetti un applauso ci sta bene.Bravi tutti e Butterfly decisamente credibile anche scenicamente.

my top four Puccini operas are: La Boheme, Madame Butterfly, Tosca & Turandot. As a opera composer myself - I am truly inspired by Puccini the most of the opera composers.
This is my preference:
1. Madame Butterfly/La Bohème/Tosca
2. Turandot/Manon Lescaut
3. Il Tabarro/Gianni Schicchi
4. La Fanciulla del West
5. La Rondine/Suor Angelica
6. Edgar/Le Villi

@@francemusiqueconcerts Et bien ça n'a pas loupé, mais bon, ça, c'est "l'effet papillon", ça marche à tous les coups. Pas trop emballé par la mise en scène, mais excellente direction d'orchestre et très belle Cio Cio San incarnée par Karah Son.

@@benjamingrossman8028 shes lovely but i like a rounder/fuller voice for butterfly. The role is a paradox. It has to be bright and young sounding to convey a girl to a young woman. However Puccini went crazy with orchestra...its so dense.

Pardon mais pas d'applaudissements après "Un bel di' vedremo" interprété de manière aussi impeccable et puissante ? Sérieux ?
Hier à Bordeaux elle a été copieusement applaudie à ce moment et ovationnée à la fin.

Par pitié arretez de faire les connaisseurs dans les commentaires, cette version de Madama Butterfly à défaut d'être catastrophique ne casse pas trois pattes à un canard quand on la compare aux enregistrements/opéras de référence : costumes/maquillages et mise en scène horrible, et vraiment pas de quoi s'extasier sur les voix des interprètes. This is very strange. I don't know if the acoustics of this place are bad, but the tenor is trying to tear down walls throughout. Don't know why, but the music suffers because of it. The soprano is very good. The Bariton... I don't know. Sounds like a young voice but pushed all the time. The high notes are exceedingly sharp and his pronunciation is terrible. It seems everyone (except the soprano) is trying to be heard, but they push too much. Goro is very good but around 32:37 he sings "lo sposoooooooo" "poi la sposaaaaaaaa"... Those are quarter notes and there's no reason to sing those notes so long. It changes the accent on the words and it is simply wrong. I don't know if I'll be listening to the whole thing. I doubt it. And I find curious that the guests arrive on boats to the house since it is supposed to be on top of a mountain...
Stop embarrassing yourself.
