0:41 Why is Mehboob so relatable? Bring the delicious food first, then we'll talk about how yummy it is! 😁 2:18 I am very okay with my country being known as cake-istan! 😆🍰🎂 3:03 Naseeba dropping unexpected wisdom! 3:26 This is the first I've heard of National Cheesecake Day, but even those who 'celebrate' it probably just have a piece of cheesecake at work, or when they get home. Most of these "National _____ Day"s aren't really celebrated as holidays, they're just excuses for sales. 🙄 4:04 "Double-decker bus" made me LOL.
Naseeba is absolutely right. I've been putting off a project because I'm afraid to mess up (very low budget person). Gotta just do it anyway and see what happens or I'll never know.
With so much going on in the world, it is nice to tune into this channel and see people enjoying different foods for the first time. I don't know why this brings me so much joy, but it does. Thank God for this channel :)
Wow! I'm from New Orleans Louisiana and as I was watching the first two cakes I was thinking to myself " wouldn't it be great if they try to King cake? " And to surprise there it is. It is extremely sweet but it is also seasonal so when that time of the year rolls around people rush out to get them. And they are everywhere for about a month or two, every gas station, grocery store, bakery, corner store they probably sell within the millions in that short time. You are all wonderful, lovely and beautiful people and I wish you nothing but greatness in your lives. Watching you and your joy at new experiences is always a fascinating thing to behold.
You are all so funny! Yes Americans work lol! Most of the “food holidays” such as cheesecake day are not really celebrated, just on the calendar. You may buy a piece that day, but that’s it. Using a fork would be easier than a spoon.
King cakes are a Mardi Gras food item, which is coming up soon! They generally have a little plastic baby inside and whoever gets the piece with the baby has to buy or make the next one. Mardi Gras is celebrated mostly in Louisiana, parts of Mississippi and East Texas but a lot of states are doing a little something. There's several parades , people dress up, and you holler "throw me something Mister!" And they throw strings of beads. It's great. Louisiana is a little different than other states. It is the only state based upon napoleonic law rather than common English law. A bunch of French Canadian "criminals" were sent to Louisiana from Canada back in the day. Some communities speak a Cajun French which nobody can understand except them lol. There's a lot of unique things they do do. There's some old school things they still do in some communities that are great like the chicken chase called Courier de Mardi Gras. It's absolutely great! The men gather in colorful costumes and ride horses to houses and chase chickens to put in the gumbo, which the whole community later eats. They'll ride standing up and the deal is they have to sing. It's great. Here's one for you to watch. ua-cam.com/video/dId4-fyqgAc/v-deo.html
"America is Cake-istan" BAM! always the best quotes from these OMG the host stealing the cake is my favorite thing so far d I'm a fat American and I've never heard of King Cake..... wtf is that, a pound cake with stuff on it?
King Cake! My favorite! They are very popular during Mardi Gras, most importantly down in New Orleans! They place little plastic babies in them. They were originally a symbol of Jesus to those of Christian faith, and as a symbol of good luck and prosperity to whoever found it. We also have a tradition if you get a piece with the baby in it, you have to buy the next king cake. They also make them with filling such as apple, cherry or cream cheese. LOVE King Cake!
Boston Cream Pie is my favorite. The King Cake is made during Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Louisiana . Mardi Gras means Fat Tuesday , the day before Ash Wednesday which is the beginning of Lent , a religious time when we fast . So on Fat Tuesday we eat , drink and be merry the day before Lent begins
But Lent isn't true fasting. Most people sacrifice meat or one thing they like until Easter. Sometimes not even food. It would be an interesting concept for them to explore, since they fast for a month for Ramadan
@@xymonau2468 I know that. But even during lent, people do not go 10 or 12 hours without eating, for the most part. They continue to eat three meals a day, and drink water, they just give up something that they can live without
King cakes are a sweet symbol of Epiphany, a Christian feast day in January that celebrates the visit of the Magi (the Three Kings or Three Wise Men you might recognize from Christmas nativity scenes) to the Christ Child.
I’m new to your channel and I can’t stop watching lol I just love how there’s so much appreciation and understanding in learning the different cultures. I’m subscribing ❤
Lots of tasty desserts today! I'm glad they liked the Boston Cream Pie. Just an fyi, it's "cream" when the item has real dairy products, but we use "creme" to indicate it's not dairy. Also, please explain to them the history behind what they are eating, especially the King Cake, which has specific religious meanings, which is why it is served only for Mardis Gras.
That looks like King Cake from my city, where I was born and still live. We'll all be enjoying it from Jan 6-- Mardi Gras day- and we LOVE IT! ❤️ HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

I'm glad they didn't ask to google more pictures of the Cream pie as they would have had the shock of their lives! Ismail my friend... you are a King everyday 🤴🏽
This is such a fun show. So....why do they keep making Ismail eat cheese when he has clearly said 1000x times it hurts his stomach? I just don't get it. I know he wants to be apart of the show, but he is possibly lactose intolerant. It just makes me cringe to think about what his night is going to be like. Ughhh.
@@joesarb6455 that sounds more like dairy intolerant. Most cheeses don't have a ton of lactose. I used to be dairy intolerant but now only lactose so I can still eat dairy like yogurt, sour cream, and most cheeses but I can't do milk, cream, processed cheeses, milk/cream sauces like alfredo etc.
You should have informed them that in the King Cake there is a surprise. A small object. If you find it in your piece, you get to have another piece! HA HA
Naseeba called out and impersonated Kastoori at 1:31. I don't understand the language but I heard Kastoori's name was mentioned by Naseeba. Oh lord, I miss her.
I haven't watched through all of the videos yet, but if you haven't done so already, you should have them try the Colombian 'Bandeja Paisa'. I think they would LOVE it lol.
God blessed the U.S.A. Cheesecake day and other "celebration days" like those are for fun and aren't recognized as a "federal holiday".July 4th Independence day, veterans day, Labor day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are federally recognized as National Holidays where people get a paid day off.
I didn’t know “King Cake” was a thing in the south! I always thought it was a Hispanic/Mexican thing since we have it around Christmas time/Three Kings Day! It’s called “Rosca de Reyes” though, but it still has the toys inside!
Everyone's English is getting so Good. I'm super impressed to see people basically learning our language primarily through food. Really awesome.
