What model is that Red splitter by the way? I just found out that the blue one is just way oh so not affordable. Something on it must be lined with gold. lol.
Its not hard to see that he's hurrying alittle more running the vertical. But, the point is well made! Its 5 times easier to hurry! Your wood stays with you. Your splitter returns itself. Youve got both hands free to hold the log. Etc. Etc. I'm sold.
Wow I can’t believe you actually published this. Just the pace is which he worked is way different. Not to mention he cycles the horizontal completely even tho the wood is already split. And don’t always auto cycle it back immediately. I mean really. I get that your machine might be a bit faster but not by that much.
Yes, I agree the pace and the stroke are different (slower and longer) on the red one. I would still guess that the blue one is 2x faster. Its all in the handling of the material. And if you saw the note about the "table" on the red one that is a very valid point. I have a crappy splitter with almost no table and I'm constantly spending time picking up pieces that need hit again. That takes a lot of time if your constantly picking stuff up and kills you back.

Both are splitting easy wood if the horizontal splitter had a wider wedge there would be no difference
Ok, but both have similar sized wedges, so where is the difference you are suggesting?
mrpush the taper should get wider on the horizontal splitter , other than that they both are similar
Similar cycle times, my ass. I call bullshit.
Now go against an eastonmade and a timberwolf
Eastonmade has same cycle time as this red one. So what is the actual difference you are pointing out?
Some eastonmades have multiple wedges and not all are the same speed
Obviously doesn't know how to run a horizontal splitter!!!
