One of the greatest bands of all time.
You've only just opened a door, and behind it you'll find bright, surprising and unique wonders. Be curious, come in, you won't regret it !
Babymetal is the most unique act from Japan for the last 14 years, and that's a lot to say considering the awesomeness Japan is producing lately in music. Still there is no one like them. Also they have the best live performances and probably the most dedicated fan base around the world.
They can get extremely metal and extremely cute, hence they created their own genre called kawaii-metal.
Gimme Chocolate was their global viral sensation back in the day, but is only a little tip of a huge iceberg of fantastic music.
Seriously, you won't regret if you continue down the foxhole BABYMETAL is. New subscriber here looking forward for more 🤘🦊
Babymetal was created to be a gateway into metal for pop fans. Their producer Kobametal wanted to revitalize interest in metal in Japan and thought that blending metal with J-pop would make it more approachable for people not familiar with metal. They call this blend of metal and J-pop that they pioneered "kawaii metal" (cute metal). Rather than being a traditional metal band, Babymetal are an idol group that does metal, so the three members of the group sing and dance, while a backing band plays the instruments. The three girls who comprised Babymetal at the time of this performance were Su-metal (Suzukua Nakamoto) the lead vocalist in the middle, Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) backing vocals and dance (on the left side) and Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) backing vocals and dance (on the right side). Yuimetal retired from the group in 2018, and in 2023 Momometal (Momoko Okazaki) joined the group.
This is the answer to the question of why Japanese people have the same hairstyle.
I am Japanese, and in the old Japanese way of thinking, we are taught that one's value is not determined by one's own self-centered beliefs, but that what is judged in the eyes of others is correct.
For this reason, young people with little experience tend to care about what others think of them, and everyone ends up imitating hairstyles and clothing that are generally highly regarded.
That era will soon come to an end. Japanese people are also changing to live by valuing their own axis, rather than being swayed by others.
This band grows on you and consumes you. Pure smiles everytime.
The statue in the background is Sumetal. This concert was a celebration for her 16th birthday.
Babymetal will be doing their first headlining UK and European arena tour this coming May you can look them up on any of their sites
Welcome to Babymetal! I saw them live a few months ago, and they are absolutely incredible. One of the best live bands around, and touring heavily.
They are the first to successfully fuse J-pop, metal, and other influences, and there’s no other band that’s quite like Babymetal. Songs range from fun and goofy to heavy, and epic. There’s something for everyone!
Suggestions that encompasses Babymetal well:
*Road of Resistance (Official Live):* Epic anthem, Jan 2015.
*Megitsune (Pia Arena MM 2023):* A grown up Babymetal, and an amazing song.
🤘🦊
First congratulations to Suzuka Nakamoto;lead singer BABYMETAL) on being voted MA Metal Awards Best Female Metal Singer for 2024.
See who they are today:
Megitsune LIVE at PIA ARENA 2023 HQ Pro Shot from the Hymnodic channel
Good reaction..
no one would have thought that a chocolate song would be this heavy.😃🍫
Subscribed. 👍 BABYMETAL is timeless. Joy/Happiness never goes out of style. Welcome to the foxhole. They are unique and every performance is different. 🦊 🖖 ❤
BABABYMETAL - BxMxC【Live Blu-ray/DVD「BABYMETAL WORLD TOUR 2023 - 2024 LEGEND - MM」】BYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL)
Welcome to BABYMETAL!🤘🦊♪ I don't know why you think most Japanese girls all have the same hairstyle, twin-tail or ponytail is rather rare in modern Japan.
If you are in Japan and the girls are playing you just have to go see them live if you can its not just a concert its an experience 🦊
Nice first reaction to Babymetal 👊🏽⚡️ If you continue to explore the world of Babymetal you will not be bored🦊🤘🏾
It's just the tip of the iceberg. We look forward to more BabyMetal!!
I feel bad for you for holding the laptop all the time xD
I'd hold it for the entire day to listen to this
Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊You won't have seen anything quite like them - and yes they brought choreographed dance to Metal, but not just any dance, their choreo is bespoke for each song, it is interpretive and relates to the lyrics or meaning of the song - but most importantly it is designed to include and involve the crowd.
The name BABYMETAL is not about their age (OK it probably did play a part). The name was chosen for two reasons:
- to symbolise that they gave birth to a new genre of metal music (kawaii metal)
- because the writing (and pronunciation) in Japanese is nearly identical to the writing of "heavy metal" (and they love a pun):
BABYMETAL = ベビーメタル (be-bi-me-ta-ru)
heavy metal = ヘビーメタル (he-bi-me-ta-ru)
BABYMETAL is just the 3 girls, but they do have their own backing band (the Kami Band - all of them world class musicians) supporting them at all live concerts.
In this video you didn't see the Kami Band - this was recorded 11 years ago in December 2013 and the Kami Band became the full time support in March 2014. Before then the Kami Band played the encores in some concerts and the rest of the time the instrumentals were on backing track and the guys in skeleton suits you saw in this video (Babybones) would be on stage dancing around with, but not playing, guitars and drums.
'Gimme Chocolate' - they just want chocolate but they are a bit worried about their weight. But chocolate - it would be so nice, they would be so happy so can they just have a piece of chocolate please!🍫🍫🍫
As I said, this video is 11 years old, lead singer Su-metal was 16 (this was her 16th birthday party), the other two girls Yuimetal and Moametal were both 14.
They started 3 years earlier in 2010. They have been touring the world since 2014 and they are one of the very best live acts on the planet.
Yuimetal last appeared in October 2017 and left the band in October 2018 because of her poor health. After 4 or 5 years where Su and Moa continued as a duo supported by dancers, BABYMETAL got a new third member, Momometal, in April 2023.
This was the official video, so although it was filmed at a live show the audio is from the studio recording - they sound much better live with Su-metal's powerful vocals (she is an incredibly talented vocalist and the whole idea was formed around her) and the Kami Band's live instrumentals.
They created their own new metal sub-genre when they started as a fusion of Metal with JPop hooks, melodies and aesthetics (including the dancing), and they have evolved to blend and mix so many more musical styles and genres with the metal.
Every song is different to the last, they will surprise you every time.
Next 'Megitsune' live at PIA Arena April 2023.
Nice first reaction👊🏽⚡️Your open mind will serve you well as you explore Babymetal🦊🤘🏾
Road Of Resistance , offical live version is best . These girls are huge now, tour all over the world .

🤘🦊
The name Babymetal refers to a new genre of music they created kawaii metal please check out some of their new music from the past couple of years including collaborations they did with bring me the horizon and bloody Wood
Because the Japanese hairstyle can change the face shape and make girls look cuter, younger and more beautiful. Don't you think they are cute and doll-like? Thanks for your great reaction.
Many kitsunes of The One will say that this song isn't among BABYMETAL's best - I beg to differ. Although BABYMETAL does have many songs that are better, this song defines what BABYMETAL is: heavy metal pleasantly mixed with J-pop without missing a beat - kawaii metal at its best, and one of the best videos of the "Yui Era" (a little bit more on that later).
The “I was not expecting this” and “WTF did I just watch” are the typical reactions among first-time BABYMETAL viewers. A lot of their songs tend to get that - even after you watch a few of them! Anyway . . . .
You’ve opened a can of worms!
BABYMETAL has an extensive history (and lore) which I won’t get into but a quick synopsis: they’ve been around since 2010, and started when their lead singer - known as Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) - was about twelve, and the two "cheerleaders" (officially "scream and dance" (backing vocals)) - Moametal (Moa Kikuchi) and Yuimetal (Yui Mizuno) - were both around eleven. Unfortunately, Yui left the group in 2018 because of health concerns, and early in 2023 Momoko Okazaki (Momometal) was named a member of the group. They do not play instruments but are backed by the Kami Band - session musicians who are among the best that Japan (and the U.S.) has to offer.
BABYMETAL started a brand new genre of music ("kawaii metal" - cute metal), and they cannot be pigeon-holed - they are almost always thinking and moving outside box; they made listening to metal FUN! They have, to date, four studio albums with over fifty songs, and have been on a number of world tours. It is common knowledge among their devoted fans (known as "The One") that BABYMETAL is best served live, but they do have several music videos that are real works of art.
I try to urge people new to BABYMETAL to start from BABYMETAL's beginning and see how they have progressed to now - see where they’ve been before getting caught up in where they are - and react to their first two music videos, "Doki Doki Morning" ( ua-cam.com/video/cirhQ8iLdbw/v-deo.htmlsi=k84SUx4P01t9M5ic ) and "Iine!" (pronounced "E-nay") ( ua-cam.com/video/qVdBBOpSoN4/v-deo.htmlsi=rNZ3yF8RGVdzBZmS ), both released in 2012. I'm sure you will find both very entertaining.
It is my opinion that until you’ve seen their earlier work, you haven't really experienced BABYMETAL.
You’ll notice those are the first two on this list of recommended songs (with links to suggested versions). The first sixteen are from what I've come to call "The Golden Age of BABYMETAL" (better known as "The Yui Era"; songs prior to 2018 from their first two studio albums when Yui was still with the group). This list also includes all four songs of the BABYMETAL sub-group Black BABYMETAL (just Yui and Moa while Su is taking a break):

You can use my UA-cam playlist “BABYMETAL Top Twenty” ( ua-cam.com/play/PLdhz2aj0pt4zPl0BZLevPUR9uHKQA27uj.html ) as a quick link to all of these videos; it is a mix of MV’s and live performances, is more or less in historical sequence, and could be considered a road map down the BABYMETAL foxhole. If nothing else, it can be used as a reference to find high quality versions of BABYMETAL songs without mucking about - if they are on the list. Anyway . . . .
Another recommendation (read "challenge"): react to an entire BABYMETAL concert. I suggest:
"Legend 1997 Apocalypse" ua-cam.com/play/PLdBAj9hZ91wCao72oSqTMLrGpIDOqzR2Q.html
and/or
"Budokan Black Night" (2014) ua-cam.com/play/PLdBAj9hZ91wBwsBfjsKH9zWxA5YOOUkSI.html
Both concerts are, in a word, incredible.
Enjoy your trip down the foxhole! (You're in for a wild ride!!!)
Keep rockin' BABYMETAL!!! (Sorry about the wall!)
KITSUNE UP!!! 🤘🦊🤘
Yes. The shock factor in this song might be too much for some people.
@@Trivia-Babymetaru2010 LMAO!!! I laugh because, for the most part, the "shock factor" with other BABYMETAL songs is only going to be more intense. 🤘🦊🤘

Agree. For example the rap-breakdown section in Iine. And then the pig squealing in Megitsune.
Different person will approach & accept it differently though.
Gimme chocolate!!はBABYMETALの入り口を見たに過ぎません。

Great reaction. This early music video (studio sound dubbed over a live show) was what got Babymetal noticed worldwide thus the number of views. They are still going strong in 2025 and are in Australia next month plus an Arena tour of Europe and the UK in May. Su-metal, the lead singer, is now 27. Moa is 25 and the newest member, Momo, is 21. Yui, who is in this video, sadly left the group in 2018 for health reasons. Su and Moa continued as a duo with a back up dancer to fill the third spot until 2023 when one of those dancers, Momo, became the official new third member. Their live stuff is well worth checking out.
Nice reaction and welcome to Babymetal. This song as you noted went viral over 10 years ago on UA-cam. The-at least to western ears-incredibly high WTF was pivotal in putting Babymetal on the radar of Western listeners. A lot of first timers can't handle this so good on you for hanging in there and enjoying it.
Babymetal are going stronger than ever with two of the three teens you see here still performing. They recently finished a two month tour of North and South America and just before that completed their sixth world tour.
I agree with you that this is soooo Japanese. And the creation of this mix of cute J-pop and metal is a sub-genre of metal known as Kawaii. They still bring an adorable charisma to their performances. But have consistently over 15 years challenged themselves with always experimenting and bringing new influences to their performances. Babymetal have an undeniably distinct sound and whatever musical path they're treading on that unique Babymetal sound always come through. Good luck and best wishes with your various travels.
Great first reaction! 🤘🦊🤘 Thank you for giving BABYMETAL a chance!!! BABYMETAL is a Japanese kawaii (cute) metal group (a metal subgenre that they created) that formed in 2010 when the original 3 girls were 11-12 years old (yes, they were very young), and since then have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Sabaton, Bring Me The Horizon, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Download, Sonisphere, Glastonbury, etc), US, and Asia. They are the first Japanese band to perform at Wembley arena in the UK. Also, 20+ awards have been given to them. They have 70+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too. Also, they released a new amazing album last year and they just finished a world tour where they had many shows here in the US. They also recently released a new music video for their song called "Metali" that features Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, a live music video for "Brand New Day" featuring Polyphia, a music video for "RATATATA" which is a collab with Electric Callboy, and they were featured on Bloodywood's (Indian metal band) newest song "Bekhauf" which has an amazing music video! 🤘🦊🤘
Not of Course, the Name of the Band had nothing to do with this song. Write in Katakana Heavy Metal and then write Babymetal,, this was the wanted Effect of their Name. While this song was essential for them. When it went viral on UA-cam they started a Europe Tour, what no One knew at that time Iron Maiden got busy. When they heard Babymetal comrs to Europe they knew we have to finish our Babymetal review, they observed them since some time. And when Sonicsphere heard this they closly went through the time tables of the main stage.Viral on UA-cam and IronMaiden Review in Metal Hammer. We have to presentbthem in size. And they offered them an upgrade to the Main Stage. At that time they had not playedvin Japan in Front of more than 5.000 people. This recording is from Su's 16 year birthday concert. Su had to leave Sakura Gakuin and Amuse took this Project under zheir own Wing. And no imagine when on this stage you have suddenly a Band with four Corpse painted members appear and in front of them 3 tiny japanese girls. Yes they were a planned project but they were planned for the japanese market. This was only a Promotion Tour. No one expected something from it.
And they stood in front of 45.000 people that waited for the main acts. Babymetal was at that state nearly in panic Mode, but at the end of their 5 Songs the audience cried we want more. They sold more merchandise than any other Band not Amuse was shocked but the complete japanese music industry. A japanese Band and earning money in Europe? Impossible. Well now they are in their 15th professional Year and the tiny Girls are still tiny but in age they are now 27, 25 and 21. (Yui had to quite due to health reasons in 2017) No they are not based on this ultracute planned Song. Originally they triedvtonestablish Kawai Metal but in Europe they found Fusion Metal "We mix metal with anything." And they silently merged into this scene and now they are planni g their first European and UK Arena Tour. After they played in Japan everywhere. This is the internationally most successful japanese Group. While you find in Japan a few Groups that are bigger, but not in Metal and not with 15 years of experience. They sell per Year Worldwide more Songs than the complete industry sells. So in Japan they have a special status. They Collaborated with Electric Callboy, Hero, and Bring Me The Horizont.
Good reaction. For more of what Babymetal is about, please react to Megitsune MV and PIA Arena 2023 if you want to consider a double feature.
Hanabie - My Type
