Thank you. This is some of the most relevant info for ford steering wheel controls of this nature. This also applies to expedition xlt’s as far as I can tell so far, 2007-2014 uses the same controls and stock radio. You are right no one ever could put this info out there until now!

This is DEEP! Glad you got it working, I am having trouble with my 2012 Rav4 I upgraded to an Android head unit which came with only half the wires to get it working. Bought a connects 2 kit with all the adapters still can't get my steering wheel controls & back up camera going. :)

thank you so much for all the help, for anyone looking to do this with a stock cd player in an xlt you also have to change the acm module as built 727 01 01 to 0144 908B A434 and 727 01 02 to 0839. i belive it also works for f150 and probably any other comparable year. i did exactly everything in the video and didn’t have any luck until tracking down acm module as built for a truck with stock sync. thanks again and good luck everyone

Did you get your setup to work? I also have the same radio in a 2011 XLT with swc. The can bus they gave me doesn't operate the swc. What canbus did you use?

@@JackofAllMasterofNone If you ever have the chance can you confirm the 3 settings you changed. I still have the factory radio but I have installed a Lariat wheel. I too looked to need to change 724-03-01 726-09-01 and 726-41-01. line 726-09-01 seems to not be changing to 0101 for me, it looks to be 0100 afterwards? I hear some clicking when the module writes, but I don't seem to gain controls. As you are the only person I have seem online that has done this I thought I would ask? On a plus side my remote start works great!!

ford dealer told me to install the controls in wheel an disconnect both battarys and then unplug the harness from bcm wait 15 to 30 min then reconnect bcm then the battarys it worked for me lol . thanks for sharing

I have a 2011 F250 XL that I want to add steering wheel controls. Is the harness already in the steering wheel or will have to buy a steering wheel with controls already installed?
i wonder if you flashed back to the "new" flash would you get long click.. or your voice and phone buttons might act different. also wonder if your old stock radio might work with teh wheel controls with the new flash.
Do you need to add wires for a steering wheel without sync, others say you need to connect a pink wire to the radio from sync module.

I have a 2010 F-350 6.4L XLT. It has the cruise buttons on the left side, and the rubber plug deal on the right side. I run a Pioneer touch screen for bluetooth. I'm wanting to buy a new steering wheel with the audio controls as well, so any info on that since apparently it's a lot simpler then the 2011+ trucks? Thanks.
Hey. Thanks for the awesome video. By watching this and a few more of your vids, and doing a little homework, I was able to successfully add steering wheel controls to my base 2015 250 superduty xl without doing a wheel swap. I still had to remove the wheel (thanks again for that vid) but instead of a different wheel, I purchased a sw audio control switch and the harness that goes inside the wheel. I used ForScan to program the SCCM with the code you provided. I didn't bother writing the BCM as I had a feeling that I wouldn't need to. I then changed a line in the ACM to the code from the as-built for a truck with sync and wa-la steering controls on the factory cd player!!

@@marshalsmith5410 I didn't change anything in the acm. The ACM is the radio. I had an aftermarket stereo in my case so didn't have to do anything. I'm not sure if the acm needs any code changed. Best bet would be to find a used truck with the options you want to go to i.e. xlt with steering wheel controls and factory cd stereo and get the VIN #. Use the Ford motorcraft as built website to see what the differences are between your truck and that truck for the acm and that will answer your question.

Hello. Thanks for posting this video, it helped tremendously. I have a question. I have a 2016 F-250 XL, with no power anything. I noticed in your video that you have power windows and door locks. Did you upgrade, or was your truck already equipped with them? I bought a used set of door panels and window motors, but I'm not able to get them to work. I'm hoping I don't need a new GEM, and wiring harness.
Yes my truck came with them. It is very hard to upgrade. Requires a completely different harness and I believe a different BCM
Instead of the as built option have you tried the other configure options? They tell you what they change.
About 1:18 minutes in the video, what’s that usmall connector in the radio? What connect to it?
When you installed the ASWC1, did you use the 3.5mm plug and if so what wires did you connect it to?
I did use the 3.5mm plug and adapter. The. Just connected the key 1 wire to the sw1 wire i believe

One question I had was almost any option steering wheel will work? The one I bought has just heads up control but truck has that and cruise control. So in theory I should be able to just use my old controls?

The wiring harness has to be there. It should be. My truck was a base XL and it had the harness. It probably depends on the year.
I appreciate all the insight on the radio upgrade and controls integration! Helps me out alot. I do have a question... my 2012 F350 XLT has a steering wheel material BLANK on the right side. Seems like its molded into the material and not a cover. From what you are saying, this SHOULD BE pre-wired for controls, correct? I don't want to CUT it out to find out I have no wiring there. I will be doing the same radio upgrade and Axxess adapter very soon... I'll put a bug in your ear if you don't mind.... FORSCAN is in my downloads, just waiting on the OBDII connector. Thanks a ton!
If it's molded in, you can not cut it out. You have to replace the steering wheel. The wiring is "there" as far as to the steering wheel, but in your case it's not in the wheel itself. @@JackofAllMasterofNone i.jist swapped out my stock deck for the Sony AX7000... works GREAT... but I noticed on the interface harness, the SWC portion doesn't plug into anything in the dash... I thought it would be pre-wired for STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS but I don't think it is. I found a steering wheel with audio controls, I I think I need more than this... can you help out? Does your OK button work? My axswc-1 doesn’t seem to recognize the OK button. The others work fine.

I have a 2014 expedition fleet with a blank controls insert, and have been looking high and low on info like this. Even contacted Ford Tech support, they told me it could not be done? Although they would not explain why not. I popped it out and did not see the connector, so I may have to pop off the horn/airbag to look for it, fingers crossed. Again thank you so much! A quick question on the my build info: did you have to pay to get the my build information?
No. Just google ford as built data lookup by vin and the motorcraft website should show up in the results. Its free

If you're just adding a leather wrap steering wheel You don't have to do anything electronically

My problem is the used market list many modules for my truck but none match my part number. I'm searching for info on using a different part number as a replacement. How do I buy the forscan program I just recently bought the MaxiCheck MX808 mainly so I can manually regen my truck i have 2013 f450 6.7 but I also bought the upgraded steering and same aftermarket android stereo u bought to do the same thing,I know I can program keys with this scanner but more interested in how to program steering wheel controls ??????

i put the same unit in my 2014 F250 6 months ago and have never been able to get steering wheel controls to work . they worked with the stock radio though.
you mentioned something about having to do something else besides steering wheel module reprogram to make them work. what else did you do?

Quick question sir. Since you seem knowledgeable in this field. I bought and installed the same hizpo radio as you on my 2011 f350 but cannot get my steering wheel controls to function. I've tried setting them up on the radio and it's like the radio doesn't even know the controls exist. My steering wheel controls are factory btw. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Are you using an Axxess AWSC-1? You have to use a steering wheel control interface. The aftermarket android stereo can only work "out of the box" with older analog steering wheel controls. All newer Fords use the canbus network to transmit steering wheel control info and have to have an interface to work on the stereo.

If the truck came with the stereo and steering wheel controls you could have another issue such as bad wiring or a damaged module. The only way to be sure would be to connect it to a Ford scantool or Forscan and compare the programming in the vehicle modules to the as built data directly from Ford.

leoyary I’m working on a 2008, out of curiosity do you have the black plastic plug on the right side? They say it can be removed with plastic pry tool revealing the wiring harness. If you have manual knobs for Ac, I believe the digital Ac cluster interfaces with the steering wheel volume control, so it won’t work with the knob style Ac.
But I also found that the vehicle can accept the digital controls, simply will work as single zone not dual zone. So you can theoretically install controls on wheel, digital Ac cluster, reflash and use everything. Just needs a new bezel to accommodate alternate Ac controls.

Well I just pulled the stock low level radio out of my 2011 F250 XL. It only has one connector besides the antenna. I don't see a harness for the data link.... is there a harness that goes over to the passenger side? This truck was a basic truck. Probably a company work truck.. do you have wiring schematics for a 2011 F250 XL?
Bringing back an old video but I had a question. I have a 15 super duty that initially has that rubber plug where the media control cluster goes. can that be cut out and replaced or does a new steering wheel HAVE to be purchased? I do a lot of DIY work so I don't mind some fun work if it can be cut out. I'm afraid to just cut into it so I figured I'd see if you happen to take it apart at all.
Some wheels had the cutout already. Most do not. I have no idea if it can be done but the consensus is that it is much easier to buy a new wheel.
Not sure if you ever did this but I'm in the process of removing the plug. It's a PIA! Cut it into a bunch of pieces right now. Probably getting a new wheel now.. which comes with both control inserts I bought already.. 🤦♂️

Personally no, but i believe there are instructions for the older trucks available online. Its actually easier I believe as far as programming but may require adding wiring

Forscan software is free. The obd2 programmer is 30 dollars. You can do it yourself.
Which android radio did you go with? I know of one for $200. Kind of nervous about that cheap on an android radio though.
