Who the hell dislikes a video like this?? It's a clear picture, it's sped up where it needs to be, the cool Reggae music is soft and not drowning out the guy talking, I mean, WTF?
People who do this sort of thing for a living, they would rather people call them than to go on UA-cam and DIY.
Haters gonna hate
People who find no red wire in there at all, but a blue wire...

Is Guga making electric how to videos??
🤣🤣🥰🤣 omg he sounds just like uncle Guga!!!!
Thank you for the clear and concise instructions. I connected the 4 prong wire into a 3 prong dryer in 10 minutes!
This video was great!!! Did you have any issues with the change? I have a 4prong dryer but I have a 3 prong socket. I plan on changing to the 3prong and was just curious. Thanks.
@Odis Houston Jr If possible, I'd change your socket to 4 prong. 3 prog is 2 positive, 1 negative. 4 prong is 2 positive, 1 negative, 1 true ground. I would especially do this if you're even thinking about getting an electric car in the next 10 years.
This was a MUCH better explanation than the Owner's Manual. Thanks so much!
You're welcome!
Bro. You saved me from putting the red on the black and the black on the red. My owners manual covered the external ground wire and internal ground with the center white wire. It then just said to attach the other two wires to the two outer connectors. There was a black plastic cover at the bottom of the top wires so I assumed they were all black. Because of you I looked up in there with a flashlight and sure enough I had the wires crossed. Thanks for the save bro!
Extremely helpful video. My compliments to the experts
Thank you. This video was clear, informative, and to the point. I also did not electrocute myself or burn my house down. All in all a great DIY video.
Thanks! ❤👍😊
Exactly what I needed to convert a three wire drier to a four wire. Thanks!
6 years later and still helping people like me that never learned growing up
Saved me time and money twice!
So helpful. Thanks a lot dude.
Great instructions!
Does it matter that my ground wire from inside the dryer is green and white? Is it still okay to pair with neutral terminal?
My wire clamp for my 3 prong looks a lot different and I can seem to make it work
Why can't they just have a socket? This reminds me of attaching a vcr to the t.v. in the 1980's. 1980's!!!
Can I put an adapter 4 too a 3 I bought on on line?
Thanks for the help.
You're welcome
I love that UA-cam has made me a handyman.
you have earned a UA-cam degree
I swear
I’m skilled AF literally watching experts do this on the internet.
Wisdom of the crowd (likes/dislikes ratio) gives you (some) idea of validity.
Same here.
Me too and I’m not a man! 😊
Soooo helpful for me. Thanks!
I love how straightforward and simple your video is. No 5 minute graphics and intro. No life story. Just "here's how to do the thing" with clear, stable, fantastically lit, narrated & well-framed video. Thank you.
My thoughts exactly, there are only a few UA-camrs that are this great
Same! He made it so simple.
Very well done. I never replace dryer wire before, but now that I'm a widow I must learn these things. Thank you.
thanks! You are the best!
judy johnston God Bless You!

Sorry about your loss, Judy :'( Hope you have family and friends that can also be there for you xo
You got it Ms Judy!! Proud of you!
I have all the tools except for the little Batman where do I get the Batman from
Same I need the little Batman can anyone tell me where to find the little Batman I don't have the little Batman
Lol we got more wires than dryers. You're a hero
I watched 4 different videos...all saying something different about that green wire, and this is the only video that was simple and easy to follow. Thank you!
I would have done it for you for no charge at all. 👍
0:56 "...and lastly the most important thing: your dryer..."
---yes!
4:17 "...now, we're done. now, you can sit at the round table. like a boss...."
--yes yes!
You know my methods, Watson.
This was the ultimate reason that made me keep watching the video.
Yesterday i had a bad time trying to install the wires in my dryer. I almost died lmaoo thanks for making this video it was great hopefully i can install it correctly today
Literally did every step you showed and now I feel like I can change everything in the house, great video !
No complaints here.👌👌
After hours and hours searching for a 3 wire to 4 wire adapter we resolved to installing a new 4 wire.
I thought it would be as difficult/dangerous as pulling power from HUMVEE batteries to power radios, but the entire process took less than 10 minutes.
This video made that happen. 💯💯
We appreciate it.
And it's much safer I agree this was a great video so easy to do
I love the random action figures with the shots of what tools to use, you can tell this guy likes to have fun 😆
Boss status achieved😎😂
What are the odds? I watch you everyday 🤦🏾♂️🤣

Very nice video. Excellent visuals, audio clear and articulate. I was really nervous about changing from the current four prong to a three (just moved from a house built after the year 2000 code change to an older home).
This video really helped!!
Great to hear! Nice!
Good video. Clear, accurate, and to the point. I especially like the inclusion of the Dark Knight @ 0:54 lol! Always essential.
+Trip Wheeler Thanks. Lol
Thank you for the video! Because of your instructions, I was able to switch from a 3 prong plug to a 4 prong plug!
I have this video takes the credit for installing my new dryer!!! Bruh the jokes just writes themselves with this one.
Thank you bunches and bunches! You saved my bacon, uh, laundry. ;-)
Oh yeah! I’m sitting at the round table “like a boss” 😂 THANK YOU!
Thank u very much. My husband was never taught man things. He tried twice. The first time I moved the dryer a bit and sparks went flying. The second attempt my belly got electrocuted. The third attempt was after watching this video. Again, thank u so very much!
Many mahalos from Hawaii, you helped me solve a huge problem.
I love that you called me a boss and said I can sit at the round table now 😂
Thanks. It's been 10 years since the last time, needed/wanted to refresh my memory. Don't take electricals lightly
This video was excellent!!! Very helpful. Question did anyone have issues with the change changing out prongs? I have a 4prong dryer but I have a 3 prong socket. I plan on changing to the 3prong and was just curious. Thanks.
Awesome video easy step by step video. Now, I'm sitting at the boss table. Thanks for such a great video,
First time buying a dryer as a new grad living on my own, thanks for the tutorial. Clear, concise, and easy to follow!
Very welcome!
This video was perfect! Thanks for the clear, easy to understand instructions!
Thank you for making this a simple and straight forward video ! First time doing this and it was a breeze !
Thanks boss, my room mates think I'm a genius.
Hey man, thank you! This video is so vividly clear and your style and music are perfect. God Bless!
Man this helped me get it done in 5 minutes no lie. Good looking out bro!
Thank you so much, would have taken me much longer to figure out on my own. This was perfect!
thanks!
Need help
Nice. Thank you. I had a 3 prong wire. Now i get a dryer. And its 4 prong. So now i now how to converter
Helped me out a lot. I thought I had to buy another dryer 😂😂 💯🤘🏿
This is excellent!!! My “white” wire is green though so do I connect my write wire to where the ground was and then connect the green to green?
So my friend is a master electrician, and my dryer had a green wire permanently attached where the white wire was in this video (grounded to the metal body). I showed him this video and he said because my dryer has a green wire in the spot where this guys is a white wire, you just simply attach both green wires together. If your setup is like mine, DO NOT attach the green wire to the middle white wire as he did here in this video. Again my buddy is a master electrician (highest level electrician there is) and obviously there are some dryers that are wired slightly differently. Basically never mix any colors of wires!
That's exactly what I did. I placed the green wire over the ground wire already provided in the top left green screw.
Where did he do that?
@@CC-dx3it he didn't do that in this video. The poster doesn't know what the heck he is talking about. He apparently cannot see two WHITE wires screwed into the middle. The green is grounded to the side where it's supposed to.
That’s not what he said or did...calm down
Thanks I thought the green went to green on outside but the fact wight was there was really throwing me off 😂
I had to install a 4 prong dryer plug today. Watched this video and it worked out great. Thanks for posting👍👍.
Thanks so much! Very helpful , I was a little nervous but it went fine although my cord had a green wire I attached that together.
Did u connect to the white one
Vikki Mcdade yeah did you.?
Did you connect it to the white one
Thank you I was about to make a mistake with the ground wire conecting the green one together THANK YOU GOD BLESS YOUR VIDEOS
Since the dislike button is now invisible, I come to the comment section to see if the video is worth watching or not. I'll echo everyone else's sentiment and say thank you for presenting us with straightforward instructions. Much appreciated!
Also, of course I ended up dropping a screw and had to completely remove the back plate 😂
thanks! 🤣😂
very straight forward and easy to follow. Thank you!
I'm changing a 4 prong to a 3. My 3 doesn't have a green wire. What do I use for the ground?
For a 3 prong dryer cord in an older house, you need to connect the white wire from the dryer to the neutral (middle) port and connect the ground ( separate) wire from your house wall to the green nut (where you removed the white wire)
Or you could just get a 3 wire plug.
I kinda get your point though I’m just learning to be a diy gal. So my 3 prongs are all gray. I was told that the middle is the ground then left and right doesn’t matter because they’re gray. I also was told to put the middle prong as the ground. So I’m confused about what to do with the green ground that (in this video is external) Mine was connected to the green ground. I really need to do this right and it’s a used dryer so I don’t have the owners manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated ✌️
@@MD-wz8uzI’m changing my plug from a 4 to a 3 because of the electrical outlet. I’m so confused. Any ideas? ✌️
Absolute best video...no 🐂💩, no chitty chat, just this is it, & this is how you do it...A+++
This video was perfect!!!! Exactly what I needed, I'm new to doing house-projects and had to change out my dryer cord. This video was super clear and explained all the different wires. I REALLY liked that it showed how to install both a 4 prong and a 3 prong cord because I was changing mine from a 3 prong to a 4 prong. Seeing what both set ups looked like made it WAY easier to make my change. Thank you SO SO much!!
Thank God for this video. I thought the green wire on the cord went with the white wire on the machine!
🤯
So helpful! Thank you. The instruction manual I got was so confusing but you helped us do it simply and right.
Great video. Only thing I would add is I think the pressure clamps need to be stuffed inside.
Thanks for the tip!
I watched a few vids b4 I got to this one...This was absolutely the best one! I went to Lowe's purchased the tools he described. Then I watched this while hooking up my new dryer today! Thanks Soo much😀
Can i ask you what brand you bought from lowes mam? Im buying there too.
I wish everyone could make videos like this, the man has a very pleasant voice and explains everything in detail, nothing that pisses me off more than some video with a heavy metal song in the background and some dude pointing at things.
Why did my installers connect the green and white cord together in the middle? Is that a problem? I have a four prong cord.
Lazy. Its done incorrectly.
Steven Preston no it’s just a lot of appliance tie the neutral and ground together in the event homes don’t have isolated neutral and ground. It could be removed which is how it should be
@@Nick-bh1fy so you are agreeing with me.
If a 4 wire is installed with the green and white from the cord under the middle terminal screw, they were too lazy to do it correctly.
Steven Preston no I’m not they do it in the case of people not having isolated neutral and ground, not the current right way but not the lazy way
@@Nick-bh1fy you wouldnt have a 4 prong outlet in a home without there being an isolated ground 99% of the time. And installers wont know based on an outlet if it is properly ground or not.
If an installer came in and overlaid the ground and the neutral, they were too lazy to remove the actual neutral-ground from the body and move it over 3" and put it under the neutral how it should be.
Question. My dryer has a 4 prong wire, bit the outlet in this house is a 3 prong outlet. It is ok to install a 3 prong cord to the dryer, even though it’s not what it came with?
I have the same question
Thanks just moved into a new house and had to replace mine. Thanks alot
Just got a new dryer and this video was SO helpful. I’m so glad it was the first video that popped up ☺️
You’re the man, thank you!!! Well explained my first time installing it and thanks to you I had this video to help
There's a reason why this video has almost 2 million views
#PlainAndSimple
Thanks! Knew it was simple but needed a simple clarifying so I didnt kill myself.
you're Welcome!
Thank you sir! I sorta also appreciate the last comment about sitting at the round table like a boss. 🙌 sure do feel like a boss 🤪
You bet!💪😊👍❤
On installing on 3 wire prong, how do you determine which side is the right and which is left?
GADI Yes, he left out this critical point.
Follow the wires to there base then start scanning up. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist lol
GADI it honestly doesn’t matter as long as the center wire is in the center. The 2 outside wires for this application supply the 240 volt circuit meaning both wires are supplying the 120volts per wire for the dryer. This only apples to residential applications. I’ve been an electrician for 10 years and also a licensed master electrician. Hope this helps :)
it doesnt matter unless it is color coded
What if my ground wire is green with a yellow line thru it
Thank you so much! This was so helpful!
What happens if you leave the neutral wire on the ground terminal in a 4 wire plug installation?
Great video! Straight to the point and very clearly shows everything that you're trying to explain. I Just finished swapping the cords on two dryers because we only have the 3 prong outlet in our home and hopefully this tutorial ends up doing the trick! Anyone who dislikes this video is a fool who can't follow a simple tutorial lol because this helped me a ton. Thanks again!
Thank You Sooo Much, your video instruction was absolutely what I needed to hook up my parents dryer. God Bless you!!
Great video help me alot thanks
You're welcome
THANK YOU for making a simple, to-the-point video! I absolutely hate having to scan through 10-minute stories and shameless advertising plugs to get the info I need.
Nice work, thanks.
+Travis S thanks
Helped me out today or should I say I double checked with your great video thanks so much! 💯👍🏼😊

great vid, I am a first time home owner and so this helped me a ton for my first washer/dryer install!
Yeah no joke thank God for this video this first time home owning thing is hard.
Excellent work!
+Big O.B. thanks!
Thank you. I have an old house and I've been electrocuted enough for a lifetime.

I’m sorry how many languages do you speak? Some words are harder to pronounce than others depending on your first language stop being dicks about it
3 prong can be installed either way if you had the same question as me after watching this video. Doesn’t matter which side is which as long as middle wire installed in the middle.
Thanks for the video very much appreciated.
This was so helpful! I just got my first dryer ever and I never knew you had to install the cord yourself😅 you made this daunting task seem so simple and easy to do. Thank you SO much! ❤
If this is a 3 prong cord your installing... how do you have 4 wires to screw in? 3 prong cords dont utilize the ground wire they only have 3 wires (neutral, hot, and common)
Thank you for your help! God bless you! I got home with new 4 prong cable and removed back panel of dryer to replace cables and stopped because I didn’t know what to do with the ground cable that already came with the dryer. But thanks to you I’m no longer frustrated! Hahaha 😆 💪🏼
Ok! I'm feeling like I can do this now ☺️ Thank You.. lol. I was a lil worried at first 😳😂🤣
2 things it really doesn’t matter if black goes to black or red to red. Just don’t put black or red to white. Yes looks better if you happen to be working on it. Each leg is 120v. Great video
Ahh, thanks! I feel a lot more confident now I am doing the right thing (nothing) with the ground wire on my 3 prong cord. I like your relaxing voice and chill music, too.
I've only just started and my favorite part so far is the list of things you'll need. "And lastly, your dryer"
