V-Rivals (Ai Learning that started from Virtua FIghter 2 on the Sega Saturn and evolved aplenty to VF Quest in VF4 Evolution on the Playstation 2) and Replay Takeovers could be the BEST features to ever grace the SF series once they start allowing it to train. Here's hope that it will start learning in the near future., In the mean time, Capcom should allow us to select V-Rivals of pro gamers (such as Punk, Daigo, TOkido) and anyone we Befriend and Follow in our listing for us to fight against. That should be fun until the learning aspect is included.
I feel that the vrivals are honestly a little easier than the actual ranks they represent, but they still feel a lot closer to an actual player than the regular AI
Pretty soon we will have the option to play against the AI built from the likeness of all ranked players. I can see it being used for placement matches in regions with low numbers of players.
@xdragon2k This was an issue with Rocket League a couple of months ago. They had very high-level AI-trained bot controlled accounts reaching the top 1%. Although they are very easy to spot during game as they do everything a little too perfectly. The complexity of Rocket League far surpasses that of SF6, so I wouldn't be surprised if bots just pop up one day.
if you think about it, every single online match has all inputs recorded, which can be encrypted into strings of code. teach an ai model those strings and they'll learn patterns. thats what this is
I remember teaching my amiibo how to effectively beat me into rage quitting to eventually being competent enough to hold my own against three of them. This one thing is going to make bad fighters good and good players amazing. I haven’t given a dam about SF since turbo, but this changed everything 😮
i think people overestimate this Virtual rival's capability, even when ur using the AI it suggest that the higher your rank gets the harder it is to use it. I think it models a lot of general interactions but don't have enough space to model specific interactions that has too many edge cases that are dependent on the player's input, that's why proactive plays are very similar while reactive plays are a bit weird. another thing is that I think that the AI model does not take into account of time passing but only the input history of the current few seconds so the mistakes like attempting to pp more often than not is rooted in general statistic choices but not connected between interaction chains
Also important to point out this is the same "kind" of AI as pre-modern AI, as in this isnt machine learning as people might assume it to be. Understandable because it's the hot topic in recent years and at the same i wouldnt expect Capcom to actually mess and invest in such a money drain kind of research. But yeah this is still good ol old school AI and won't actually play like a real player as much. Neither AI though would be able to "plan ahead" and play mindgames with you anyway, not with the current technology. Its more like a consistency simulator
I think the training is done server side, but it's fast because the model must be really small, and they're just fine tuning a general model with your data. They're probably not training from scratch every time.
Also, there's usually a tradeoff between variety and fidelity to the dataset. In this case, a tradeoff between variety of behaviors, so that the model doesn't become too predictable, and how closely it copies your play style. And it's very hard to find the sweet spot with an automated process like this.
I remember when I was a kid, playing fighting games, and I said to a friend "What if the AI gets to a point one day where it starts playing like a human would?" Capcom, 20 years later: WANNA BET?
I'm pretty sure there is no advantage in training longer because the system just doesn't work like that. Most of the "training" time is probably just loading the replays, then do some statistics that take a few milliseconds ;-). I'd also not be surprised if Capcom takes a pre-trained model and then fine tunes a bit, using the replay statistics.
I think you are assuming this an AI model as in machine learning (what got massively popular in the AI field) which is fair to assume because it's talked a lot But no this isnt as fancy at that, its similar to what KI did, as in its not reinforced learning kind of AI, this is previous generation stuff, not different from the CPU AI in any game I am sure because otherwise it wouldnt be able to make V Rivals out of yourself out of nowhere, it training a model wouldnt take that little time. This is just a consistency simulator, it takes stats of what you do the most and slaps it on top of the regular AI. It's good for what it is, but imagine how mind blowing it would be if it was machine learning
KI did this awhile ago. I wasn't a fan. It didn't resemble me much. And it was suppose took data from every match. I never felt it changed as I changed. This was way better then KI version
I don't know if this is locally training because I was training mine yesterday and I got rudely disconnected and got sent back to the title screen. I'll try again tonight when I get home
hello! how did you unlock the rival V advance to 50 fights? I play all the street 6 mode but the counter remains stuck at 39. I can simply face the rival V which is unlocked at 10 fights. if someone has a solution it would help me a lot!! thank you everyone and good game
To add to the data log the match needs to be ranked, battle hub, or custom room and it needs to be a mirror match of that character. For instance if you want to make a Cammy V Rival you need to fight other Cammy’s online. Other characters won’t count towards that data.
@@mdz_jimmyfrom what I've seen, the AI levels up a bit if you do regular V rivals and get into Master rank. You were rookie throughout, so maybe that's why the AI was holding back.

I wish it could actually show the name, like Tekken can

Can you fight, for example, an AI which resembles top players like Punk, Kakeru, AngryBird, etc...?
no
Either it has a generalised AI based around certai ranks or your own playstyle
Sure just play ranked over +1500mr or legend
You need punk to let you borrow his account
ki wins again...joke aside. i wish they can add that later
The legend says if you encounter the LTG AI, he rages quits after 1 battle

This is like training an amiibo for Smash Bros this is hilarious 😂
Tekken and Sf really helped one another with these new updates.
Ai training started in virtua fighter tho
And it grew with these games

This was such an under-utilized mechanic with “Shadows” in Killer Instinct and I LOVED it.

No, that pertains to the other V Rival mode.
I'm gonna fight my main with all my alts 😂

Ja das kriegt man am ehesten noch mit, wenn man den live stream schaut! ;)
How does one play this mode?
