Very nice. I put in a drip system this past Spring and it was the best thing I ever did for my garden. No more dragging the hose all over the yard, no more missed waterings. My plants get the amount of water they need on a schedule. And oh yes the sound when the system first turns on is music to the ears. Congrats on your new irrigation system :-)

Yaaaaa!!! I got an pump system that's supposed to be for indoor plants to water my patio garden out of a covered bucket of water. SUCH a life saver cuz I'm the worst at watering my plants. And DEF saved my plants this past week with the heat wave when I was traveling the east coast and couldn't water.

    Awesome setup.
I love my Drip Depot Irrigation.
I went with the emitter tubing lines at 12", (1/4" Polyethylene Dripline - Emitter Spacing : 12" - Flow Rate : 0.5 GPH), this is fed from a main line, (Polyethylene Tubing - Size : 1/2")
I have my entire front and back yard hooked up. I even hooked up the irrigation to my pots in the yard, the pots on the deck, the window planter, deck planter and hanging baskets.
The hard part is finding the right length of "on time" and combination of emitters. I had adjustable emitters on some of the pots that I was not happy with, I now just make a loop of emitters, 2 or 3 based on the planter size.
Every section of the garden, every planter, every pot, my window box and Railing Planter has its own shut off valve (Barb Tubing Coupling Valve) marked with red tape. This enables me to control every zone independent of each other.
Most of the summer I have the raised beds and Hugelkultur beds shut off (we get a lot of rain in Philly).
I hooked up a 2 station orbit timer that is awesome. One station waters the garden and the other station cycles 1 minute every day to top off the back yard pond.
When there's rain in the forecast I just turn it to off for several days.
For winterizing, I coil up the emitter lines in the raised beds and hang on a pole this works great because the lines don't get lost under new growth and mulch. My main line has a low spot with a valve for winterizing. The whole assembly with the timer, pressure regulator filter etc... is removed and taken indoors, A rag is taped over any open areas (I'll be using Perma-Loc Tubing End Cap this season).

This drip tape looks great, you should look to get an automatic timer in place for the main line, and maybe go crazy and set up an automatic timer for each of the beds, so some beds that need less water can come on for only pet of the time. Would use some of your excess energy - and control it all through an app. Reckon that’s right up your street!

I get the excitement when your garden is finally automated!! Congratulations! i'm sure you'll find a bunch of better stuff to do rather than watering.
i got my stuff from home depot/lowes and the emitters for my containers are pretty lousy. Might need to replace with better quality emitters - will check out drip depot. i also have my zones controlled with a smart timer. the old rainbird was really confusing. i got the wyze system on sale when it was iinitially launched - LOVE it. It knew to skip watering on the rare occasion when it rained in southern california.

And thank you SO Much for this video! I completely rearranged my garden setup, replacing a bunch of grow bags with raised beds. Now I have to redo my irrigation setup completely. Argh. However, your approach with the drip tape might solve my water pressure problem so that my entire garden can be run on one system. That would be awesome! I'm thrilled to have learned about the drip tape and also to see how you set it all up on the raised beds. Thanks again! ⛲💙😊

Irrigation is on my list - it felt daunting until seeing this - so thanks! Question - I've got critters of some kind just shredding my current irrigation system (that's why it's off and needs to be replaced) - literally chewing the lines to get to the water. I've started placing water out to make it easier for them (well and me, let's be real) but has anyone dealt with this? Any tips other than providing a fresh and easy water source? I'm swapping out the bowls of water regularly so - hopefully - they'll leave the drip lines alone.

Nice! This looks great. How did you decide on the drip tape with emitters every 6inches (as opposed to 12 or 4 inches, for example)? And what if there had been dry spots in between the drip tape once it was set up? How would you fix that? Asking for a friend. 😬

Great setup for the drip tape, I use dripline in my garden with 16 zone timers via Raincloud boxes. I made a really nerdy video last year. One thing I didn't hear you talk about is the run length vs gallons per hour. If you're using 1/2 main line it can only support about 200 gal per 200 ft which would be fine for drip tape but not for 1/2 gal to 1 gal drip line. I still have 4 zones to install this year and it's amazing how much difference there is in plant growth for the zones with interval weekly watering vs rain and the occasional hand watering. Also, how does this system tie in with your graywater/rain storage system. My geeky drip video here, ua-cam.com/video/DcnajRdpdks/v-deo.html

I really want to set up irrigation for my garden but I think the thing that really confuses me is that I need to split my watering into like 3 areas - a large garden with 4 8x4 beds, a hand water hose for my chickens and potted plants, and a side garden along my fence. So I guess I would need some sort of splitter on the main line from my house - would the pressure regulators be on each of the splits that go to gardens and not the hand watering split? Or would they be before the split?

Word of warning about cheap irrigation timers on hose bibs! I’ve never had one that didn’t routinely fail. So what happens is it eventually stops shutting off, wasting huge amounts of water. I finally had my plumber install anti-siphon irrigation valves hooked up directly to my water pipes, which I then wired to a 12-station WiFi controlled timer.

Thank you so much for this video! May I ask what your flow rate - not your pressure - is from the hoses/faucets in your watering zones? I’m assuming it’s at least 500 GPH, given the large amount of area you’re irrigating, but you mentioned that you’re using 1/2” poly tubing in your system. I’ve been emailing back and forth with Drip Depot, trying to ascertain what I’ll need to convert my mini-soaker hose system to the 5/8” .25 GPH drip tape. I mentioned to them that I’ve been using 1/2” poly tubing to feed my system, but someone there, upon learning my flow rate is 540 GPH, told me my tubing was too small for that amount of water. This means I’ll either have to adjust my flow rate at the faucet down to 200 GPH - yeah, I guess I could do that - or I’d have to use larger (1”) tubing. They indicated that 1/2” tubing supports up to 200’ linear feet/200 GPH, 3/4” tubing supports up to 480’/480 GPH, and 1” tubing supports up to 960’/960 GPH.
Would you mind giving us the flow and actual usage rates for each of your respective zones? Also, if you’re exceeding the flow rate/tubing size limits Drip Depot gave me, would you please let us know if you’ve encountered any problems from doing so?
By the way, I’m sorry to report that Drip Depot told me they don’t help customers design their irrigation systems. I’m assuming they helped you do so previously because of the high visibility your channel offers them. Also, every time I reply to an email from them, in the chain of correspondence, it appears that a different person is answering me, and that’s frustrating. It doesn’t appear that I can work with any single individual person there to answer my questions.

Wouldn't it overwater if it was saturated all the time or is it on a timer?

Instead of adding end caps add T & L joiner and make it closed loop,
At every different patch take 1 main line with T connector add valve it will be properly pressurized and you can easily control water discharge for each individual patches
Adding everything to one main line and adding valves to each line is pretty much dumb idea,
Fresh tomato patch and yielding patch and dying plants will have different water requriments, shutting off/adjusting each valve is very inefficient way

Every garden is different I can see where it would work for Kevin but not for me. I have a 1/2 main line, off the main line are 1/4" feed lines that go to raised beds, pots, planters, etc... these all have their own valve. I usually shut off the raised beds and Hugelkultur beds once the plants are established, everything else stays on.

Not sure what happened with the editing, but two clips of inserting the drip tape to the main line were included. Just an observation, stuff happens sometimes!

How long do you run the water? Do you have your spigot on a timer or do you let it run 24/7?

Do you think you’ll be actively turning on and off different hoses depending on the plant and it’s water needs ?

Very likely, yes, but to minimize I will plant like-care plants in same beds

Wished something like that would work for me, but hey, im stuck with growing in containers. They make up around 90% of all my plant growing space i think🤔

You can irrigate this way in containers! Drip tubing and adjustable drip spikes.
