Wait really? I need to whiten my keys because my piano is brown but I’m going to paint it a light pink and I think the keys will look yellow

Well as a piano technician you really should take it apart so when a piano tuner goes to open it he can. Also the front key slip rail should be removed so a piano tech can deal with stickying keys. So please paint parts separate. I'm not trying to cut this video down as I tune and service pianos for a living.

Nice job. I professionally rebuild and refinish pianos but of course my clearcoat systems take quite a bit more equipment to apply properly. This works out great when you’re going for your own specific look.

Tinted laquer is what you should use to paint a piano. You remove the keys insuring they are numbered, and you take the removable parts off. That said, how did your paint hold up?

You did a really great job and I'm super happy I found this video because I would like to paint my baby grand black in high gloss. It's probably over a hundred years old according to the person I got it from for free. I just had to pay a moving fee. I was also working on my piano and I removed all the ivory keys. I bought plastic white keys on Amazon for about 40 bucks. Just the white keys. First I sanded them down to the correct size and then I glued them on with the blue they recommend. I suggest you do that too to get rid of the yellow. The more you use it, the more yellow it'll get since it's made from elephants. I kept a few of the ivory keys for memory purposes but I prefer a nice sleek looking piano that looks like an elephant wasn't killed for it

That will never stick to the piano. U need to use STIX primer and let cure for 24hrs. Sand down then use advanced pro or lacquer as the finish coat

It does indeed look beautiful. And thank God you weren't going for that shabby chic, rustic, puke-me-out farmhouse look! It is a terrific addition to your drawing room. Y'all made it look so easy! It really turned out splendid.

Why, for heavens sake, you painters do not take the piano apart? It is do simple and you do not have to go around all those keys and pedals. I've never understood this. To take a piano apart you do not even need a screwdriver! And do not paint the hinges! This is ridiculous.

As a professional painter and musician , I totally agree . It's not that hard taking a piano apart much less hiring painter to paint it the right way . It may look nice on camera but I can only imagine how it looks in person 😬

Maybe you should’ve considered disassembling the piano before you started painting it it’s gonna be great when the piano technician shows up and has to take it apart…
