Wonder if there are so few viewers because folks think this is a "chick flick." It isn't. It's very amusing for "kids" of all ages, and Bonita is an absolute delight to watch! 🕵️♀️
@Tebel Shaw Not a "chick flick", more likely a kid flick. I read most of the Nancy Drew books when I was in elementary school...probably the earliest editions, too. My imagination had Nancy as being a bit more mature, even though a teenager, and driving an older car. For the "Nancy" purist, most of the characters from the books are missing or changed. I don't remember what the credits said at the beginning of the video but I would say this movie was "inspired by" but not "based on".
@@howardkerr8174 Purists should know the books were changed frequently to reflect changing times. You might want them sealed in amber as you remember them but "Carolyn Keene," whoever that was at the moment, didn't want that to happen. There is now a classics edition of some Drew books you might like, reissued, 1930-1931, which was not long before the movies about her came out, indicating movie issues with paying to use book characters and plots. Stratemeyer Syndicate probably were a canny lot who wanted big money so the movies just licensed the use of Nancy Drew, further popularizing her and selling more books. If you want Bonita, watch the movies. If you want the other characters and the plots, read the books. :)
Only oldsters like myself would remember what Granville and her husband Jack Wrather did to actor Clayton Moore aka The Lone Ranger. This excerpt is from Wikipedia: “Wrather is known as the man that "sued the mask off the Lone Ranger". When a new theatrical movie version of the Lone Ranger was being produced, Wrather and Granville obtained a court order requiring Clayton Moore to quit making public appearances as the Lone Ranger. This resulted in a great deal of negative publicity and The Legend of the Lone Ranger released in 1981 was not well received.” It BOMBED! Clayton Moore as the Lone Ranger was a hero on radio, tv and movies to two generations. The Foster Grant company stepped in a made sunglasses shaped as a mask so Moore could continue his appearances. As Wikipedia notes, before Wrather died, he gave permission for Clayton Moore to resume making public appearances in costume.
Anita Granville was just right for this part and she WAS a girl. Not like nowadays, they did some Nancy Drew remakes which, to me, fell short and they used a woman trying to play a girl. They don't make movies like this anymore. Thanks for the upload. A fun watch 😊
I've been watching some of the Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys' programs from the '70s. I really wish they'd filmed more of these shows with Ms Granville; they're so much more interesting and closer to the characters in the books than anything from the '70s.
My sister put me into hospice care in 2015 it is now 10/24/2021 she was my soul beneficiary of $50,500. Her daughter was mysteriously killed in a car accident she had 5 insurance policies and my sister was her soul beneficiary.
The current remakes of the old classics are always crappy. The current crop of young actors are clones and have no real acting skills. Follywood can't make a movie without massive nudity and trash talk to cover up for the talentless actors.
80 yrs later these are still enjoyable to watch
These old Nancy drew movies are a real treat. Very funny and thrills too. I will be watching them more than once I think.
Really enjoyed this. Great chemistry between Nancy & Ted. And those 2 little brats! Mary Lee's singing was a treat.
I could watch these all day.
Bonita Granville was a charming actress!
Love these movies and Bonita Grandville was a doll.
Excellent production, direction and performances
Pizza flix luv ya thank u so much for all these amazing old films

I like the innocence and good acting.

My favorite... NANCY DREW
Another great picture show!!!
I used to read the books when I was younger in the 60s

I am glad she is a female.
Bonita Granville?
Thanks 😊👍 for this
Love Miss Drew😉
Bonita was my favorite Nancy Drew, although I did like Pamala Sue Martin in the 70's.
Loving this. It is wonderful.
Wow I enjoyed this movie so much. *****
Really cute movie.
Excellent movie. Very entertaining.

no bess and george tho
These aren't close to the books, either.
$3.50 to fix a fender ? Boy have times changed, and not for the better. Wish I had that car and lived in that town. Simpler times for sure.
Learn history from somewhere real not fictional, not to mention the relationship between prices, salaries, and inflation.
Bed. Bug hotel that was awesome. Made me laugh

Loved it and how a woman can be so bossy and get away with it ❤
Wonderful
Mary had a little lamb but now the lamb is DEAD now she takes the lamb to school on a piece of BREAD 🍞 !!$$ nice to be thought of
Darn good actress. Though it seemed as if she was listed as a grade B actress. Love her movies.
@16:03 Pinnochio is imitating Donald Duck
Saw the new Nancy Drew movies last year. So awful i didn't watch most of it.
The Nancy Drew with Emma Roberts is pretty good. Can't recall the title, though. 🤔
