If movie makers keep following the book then only the movies are going to be a Hit. They should make movies of Books like Nancy Drew and the Moonstone Castle Mystery and Nancy Drew and the Glowing Eye Mystery. Till now Nancy Drew Books are better than the movies.

Maggie Lawson was the perfect Nancy Drew. Sorry they didn't do a whole series of these with her. When I read the books, I always imagined Nancy would look and be exactly like her.

Shortly after ABC passed on the pilot, UPN was asked to pick up the Nancy Drew Series but UPN turned it down when Maggie Lawson landed a role on It’s All Relative which premiered on ABC October 1,2003 during the Fall 2003 Season. Sadly, It’s All Relative was cancelled after one season at the end of the 2003-2004 Season.

I’ve been thinking a lot about it lately from when it came back to ABC and premiered with Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story in 1997 and have been trying to remember everything that was on it and I’ve also been trying to find full presentations of it here on UA-cam. @h193013 I very much dislike the CW Nancy Drew. It's a paranormal story, and Nancy has lost her class. Nancy Drew has a format; what appears to be paranormal is actually a good old-fashioned mystery, but not so with the CW story line. Also, none of the characters are familiar. They've all been tweaked for a modern audience. The Nancy Drew stories have been a cult classic for almost 100 years. Rather than change iconic characters, they should have written an original story.

@@winterblossom9546 OP is talking from present day perspective, everyone talked on the phone in the early '00s, just like people back in the day didnt wear seatbelts... safety laws didnt get put in place until accidents became an issue
What was the point with the Ned storyline? That one scene he had made me just confused. I wish Bess had been more like described in the books and that leather jacket Nancy wore all the time was awful.
I like this one. I also like the new movie Nancy Drew and The Hidden Staircase with Sophia Lillis. Both girls have spunk and a flare that we all imagined the real Nancy had.
The copyright laws and such. You need their permission and pay a percentage to the copyright holders. I did hear that next year or in a short while the copyrights will be lifted. Her Interactive had made Nancy Drew games. There is speculation that due to the small operation they run and technology upgrade they made with no prior knowledge, Midnight in Salem is the last game. Anyone after the copyright lifts will be able to make movies or games. We do have a different Nancy Drew TV show in the U.S.
Quite enjoyed this and thought Maggie Lawson made a good Nancy Drew but if it were true to the books wouldn't Nancy have been knocked unconscious and kidnapped at some point in this story.
I remember the plot being very boring. That's why more movies weren't made. It's not enough to have good casting. You have to have well written stories too.
I googled the actress because I wanted to see something else now that I wont see her again as Crista in Santa Clarita Diet , I can't believe she acted here but yet I want to see her saying fuck and being mean ,harsh and aggressive like in the show

I think this is the closest screen depiction of Nancy Drew to the books with possible exception of the Nancy Drew of the 30's to the original books.
I do like the CW series but I kind of like this Nancy better

This 2002 movie was made as a basis for a pilot for a tv series and that is why the romance storyline is left open.
