I used to just down-tune a 4 string bass, got the job done but the lowest string would sound kinda flubby due to lack of tension. Went 5-string ever since and never looked back :D

Damn this video is really quiet. I use a 4 string, but I filed the nut down to accept the B string for a BEAD tuning.
