The average person has no idea how many hours a week you put into your farm life let alone the amount of money it takes! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise with us I appreciate it!
That kernel processor is like moving a baby grand in and out of your basement. Quite a task to have to do every year.
42:48 Andy you don't cut any corners on anything. I respect how well you take care of your equipment. You just do things the right way. Double check under the chopper parts fell through onto the floor. Great explanation as always. Catchya at the next one. Stay safe!!
The Olight torches are awesome along with the Pen's and Knife's.
It better than having a payment on a new chopper and the old girl still has life in her. 😊
I’m looking forward to 9620 video. That big horse must be getting some big wagons to pull behind it.
You can't buy a new machine every time windshield wiper needs replacing. Great video Andy.
What a beast that kernel processor is... glad you have a video record of when you removed it!!
Better to keep the machine tip top you don't want it down at harvest time good time of year for repairs and updates
You do amazing at keeping up with maintenance
This is the video Andy saves to look back at how did I do that 6 months ago. I call it conserving water, gona get dirty working on it anyway and there is always more crap to clean after your done.
Wow thats a lot of money but definitely appreciate u letting us know how much things cost so we kinda get an idea when running a farm how much goes into equipment
One good thing about the UA-cam videos is you have a record of what you did to take it out in case you don't remember or someone else has to put it in.
I have noticed that what "engineers" design is never anything that they USE or DO. I wonder if they can find their own rear end without a map and GPS. "Simple removal" isn't. Great video, Andy!
Wow Andy that looked very heavy but once you r done it will run like a champ hopefully no issues when harvesting it will b like a new chopper
Wow, that new processor seems larger even though side by side comparison didn't look it.
Great video Andy, I truly enjoy watching all the work going on every day on the farm.
Thank you.
You should put a quick coupling on that oil line for the new processor
Thanks for sharing, always enjoy your videos.
Another good one Andy Thanks for the video's 🐄 🚜🇺🇲👍
Nicely done Andy. Perfect length video. The numbers makes sense to me. Take care of that chopper it will take care of you. Also, the cows won't make much milk without it so there's that lol. Take it easy hopefully the week is rolling on good for you guys up there.
I love the way you speak. You don’t suffer fools! 😂
Totally impressed with this job Andy. I really hope all the additional work to deal with the new kernal processor is worth it.
Too bad you guys can't get your new chopper a couple years earlier, have one dedicated to corn and one for hay. Back in the last century we had more than a couple neighbors that had two pull types. They could also mix hay and corn in the silo that way in the fall also. Course those were the "big" time guys with 50 cows. LOL. And I dorealize these are almost million dollar choppers but there's more than 50 times as many cattle as well. I surely do admire Andy's determination and patience!
The chopper head is massive
Andy you have the patience of a saint
I got a thought of the day… “He who laughs last, thinks the slowest”
Or thinks the most
🤔🤔😯🤣🤣
He who laughs last didnt get the joke..😂😂
...uh...huh🙃
Andy video on pulling the new corn processor an repairing the head 👍🚜
You keep your stuff in good shape Andy it's nice to see
Awesome video thanks Andy nice job very informative 🚜🛠️🔧🚛🚜🚜🚜🚜
So I have been watching you since you got the chopper how time flys
Hey Andy, tell Nathan his thought of the day should be always have sharp knives when going to chop corn or a knife fight. Also helps to have the bigger knife or a pew pew. lol!
Hi Andy. Watched Ag with Emma and the Larsons on UA-cam. They went to Texas and demoed the new 9rx Hagie sprayer and a new combine. 9rx has up to 830 hp and no DEF. Pulled a new seeder and another implement up to 14mph. Hagie had precision sprayer and other goodies. Combine is a new series with all kinds of goodies too. Enjoyed your video today.
A company flew Larson's to NFES in KY. Waiting to see if Andy gets a Lear Jet somewhere. 😂😂
@@MorganOtt-ne1qj I SAW THE SAME VIDEOS AND THOUGHT THE EXACTLY SAME THING 💯%!!!!
They probably won’t fly Andy because he would tell them everything he doesn’t like on a piece of equipment vs telling them what they want to hear
He bleeds green so should be ideal@@robertquast9684
Got to be selling a lot milk to be flipping those bills. 👍
You need to go to harbor freight and get a air pop river gun
I'd bet anyone that works for you gets to learn a whole heck of a lot from you, also you're a mad man one handing that step bit
When you build your new 180x x 640 shop, you can put in a wash bay in every work bay to clean as you go!!😉😂😅🤣🤣
Andy I have noticed you are the only one that works on the chopper
He wants it done right the first time 😆 🤣
He keeps his hands on every repair. And he is Hollywood Hourigan, the STAR! 🤣🤣🤣
He's the only one that runs it too. Once I think Sarah was seen in the seat but that's rare.
Thank you for another great video. Stay safe out there. Cheers
seems like a lot of $$$ but probably still cheaper than the monthly payments on a brand new chopper
Running like a weaving machine, and well maintained.
Your chopper looks brand new…way to keep on top of the repairs and replacement parts that goes into your equipment
Well that"s alot of money, but compare to the price of a new chopper, much less expensive. With your preventive maintenance schedule it might last another 8 - 10 years.
I agree with ur shop opinion. I think if u rigged that big shed up with a concrete floor u could get alot of work done in there. Don't have to do all of it either.
As you said Andy the chopper ate a few $ but you have also done a ton or two with it maintenance is cheap compared to a new machine, well done team
Andy have you ever got into a project that just becomes over your head and needs expert help or do you just realize it before you tackle it?
Not yet
... the consumable parts on the newer choppers wear out faster and cost more and the newer choppers catch fire more often.
Well, a newer forage harvester harvests three times the crop at three times the speed that an old pull type chopper can do.. an older self propelled chopper is made entirely out of steel. There are no creature comforts, and there's not much for plastic/wiring, and it also can only harvest a third of the crop at a third of the speed so it's all kind of relevant. If they harvested all of the acres they do with an older machine there wouldn't be much left to it lol.
Andy, when the time comes when you do replace your chopper for a brand new one, what would the new one cost with the way you want it set up grand total
1.2
@@FarmingFixingFabricating 1.2 million are you guessing or is that the actual manufacturing cost?
Thank you for sharing. All in a days work. Its better to get thing done instead of in the middle of October. Hey did you find that "Bushing" that fell? And where it came from?
Andy why don't you pour a pad in front of your shop or next to it to wash your equipment instead of in the mud? You pour enough concrete elsewhere on the farm a 20' x 30' pad wouldn't be hard.
You would think the engineers at JD could figure a way to make the KP just swing down out of the way and store in the machine with a lot less trouble and work.
You do what best for you
Good thing you noticed that crack there. No pun intended. :)
I ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO ANDY😊
Thanks Andy
Hope the chopper goes well this year Andy. I do wonder if you kept it a year long and should have had a new one for last season with the money you've had to spend. All comes down to numbers though.
Never been convinced about JD foragers personally, especially the KP's but hopefully this new type is better.
Get to the Choppa!!
As many times you've taken that thing in an out you should be able to do that blind followed!😂
This is the first time he has taken this one out
that thing is quite the fiddle fuc
You take good care of ur chopper Andy, it's the heart of the farm right?
Yes
Is it possible to rent one in the event you have a catastrophic failure that can be fixed fast?
@@joedennison2972you could there a company in England that have like 30 of them that they rent out all over the uk
Good job
My wife says she is the kernel processor at our house.
I don’t think people who say just trade for a new one can fathom the amount of feed that goes through one of these choppers in a year let alone going on 7 years…. At the price of the new choppers you can’t exactly trade every year either.
I am curious though, does your area of the country not do earlage?? Seems like that would be a faster way to process your corn with the chopper vs doing high moisture with the combine?
Was Rich the mechanic at Caz that works at your chopper yet? We toured your place probably early 2000's with a Vigortone rep. Richard's brother is my neighbor.
Handy KP to get out.
I am going to say that's only job noone on farm does or likes that processor
i have been doing the same thing with my combine paid 285ths for it new 7yrs ago now they are 750ths so we just spend around 5 to 10ths a year on it to do the same job as a new one maybe a better job it will be my last combine because in one more year i will be 66yrs old ,the say i am a young farmer.😂
I’ve never been around a self propelled chopper and watching you swap the kp in and out it looks like it would be so much better to have it swing into that open area and have the panel go into place. Or is that open area needed for something else
When are you going to instruct others to get some experience in replacing the Carnell presser?
Its a lot of money but that machine cuts a lot of acres of different crops each year - if you looked at the price divided out per ton or per acer it probably is not that big
I guess you won’t want to be flipping between grass and corn too many times per season 😬
You should mention the price of a new chopper.
Where do you get one of those tools to put in them nuts at 46:00 minutes?
Andy, what material do you have for the lot between your garage and the road? I see a concrete apron near the garage. Is the rest of that just gravel?
Millings
Would it have made sense to change the chopper.u are spend a lot on maintenance every year
Go price a new one and that 50 grand will seem like pennies
How much to trade for new vs the $50k+ repair bill this year? Guessing $200K+
Go higher. $750k is base for new choppers, and they don't hold value long. 6 year old machine, regardless of maintenance records, and from a Dairy farm really takes a beating on trade value. Yeah, it sucks.
1.2 for a new one ours is not quite worth 4….
@@FarmingFixingFabricating I am behind on current pricing! Thanks!

Whoseen belt diagram in marker?
Hey Andy, haven’t talked to u since last summer when my wife and I stopped in. I know u will like the new processor when u get to using it next fall. I liked the one I had with my 970 Claas and also, it took up more room to put in and out due to the bigger roll dia., can be a real pain the in the u know what. LOL. But, it will do a bang up job. Better consistency in the chop.
It was nice seeing the two of you last summer
When did you go away with a pull behind chopper?
Oi 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thought you traded that chopper off andy on a newer model
Not yet
How long do you think you will keep that chopper?
I think he said 2 more years. 9 seasons????
I'm not trying to tell you what to do or be a smart ass but keep a close eye on that oil system just saying oh how do I say this well I'm just going to use farmer language it will fuck up don't ask me how I know it's just like a lot of stuff it's okay but it does have it's flaws just a heads up and then again it may never give you any problems I haven't had any problems since they replaced mine check it after about 2 hours just saying
Yeah probably should have a camera on it
Hey Andy you know you wouldn’t have to work on you machines so much if you would just be more gentle 😉
Nothing breaks down until you use it. 😂
@@MorganOtt-ne1qjEquipment doesn’t break in the shed!!
@@mfreund15448 TRUTH! Why buy it if you ain't gonna use it? They USE their stuff.
Holy shit it was a fucking joke relax people look deep inside and find you’re sense of humor
Maybe we should ask Joe Biden for the "Thought of the Day"?!?! Duuuuuhhhhhhh,.....what was the question again?!?!
I don’t work for you!!
It’s pretty much what Andy gets anyway! Not much going on there for thoughts of the day!😂
I don't know if your comment was aimed at me or not,.....I do realize that you do not work for me. I was just making fun of Joe Biden. Nothing more, nothing less.@@mfreund15448
Lol to funny
I feel more confused after I listened to that fucker than when he started...
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
cost alot of money to have guys standing around when something is broke dow,n
I rarely see many standing around, everyone seems to jump in to get things going. Different people do have different talents, but they know who does what the best.
Pass this thought to Christian to use, every day is an IQ test.👍
Thanks for another nice video. Really appreciate you filming as you do the job, without breaking the video up as much. I like seeing how the job is done like this. I'm not close to be a farmer unfortunately but I sure enjoy the atmosphere around farm work. Same would be nice to watch from the tractor cab, as the job is performed out in the field, plowing, manure spreading and everything else. Have a nice day. Looking forward to spring work in the fields too.
Don't forget to call about that pulley Andy
Hi Andy !
it cost a lot $ now for keeping a chopper rolling but this one is your ride , the boss 'ride and you do a very goid job to keep that great ride ready to roll all the time.
very nice new corn prossesor .
Good job everybody !
Thanks Andy for your time and everybody have a good day at the farm ! 🙋♂️
Hi Andy, Please ballpark what a new chopper and heads would cost. Thanks.
1.2 million
Beast mode Andy 💪 lol 🤣😎👍
I really like the new camera angles. Very informative.
We have ran the schear kernel processor for 5-6 years on our claas. Very well built unit. The electronic temp sensors are nice and the oil mist system seems to work well
And in 6 months all you have to do is remember how you got it out. Then do it in reverse.
Andy, the clip on suspenders got to go get some bachelor buttons or order jeans withe real deal!!!I will ship you some good leather pacific coast pair, the real deal!!°
My jeans have the buttons in them, these clip on ones do pretty good
Why don't you wash your equipment before you work on it?
LOL. So folks will ask him. :)
Do all brands of choppers require that mechanism to be removed when crops are switched?
Yes
👍
👍
Is the chopper like everything else, half metric, half SAE?
