      I live in “Trump Country” in Texas and it’s still extremely conservative with way too many people who still believe him. I will say it’s been fun when I hear them in a gas station talking about the voter fraud in 2020 and I get to tell them it didn’t occur and that yes the majority of the country is loving that Biden and Harris will make America great again

      John Wayne didn't know what the hell he was talking about, when his time came to serve his country he didn't try very hard to get into a combat position, even though with his connections he certainly could have. Hollywood was his WW2.
      When the time came for another man to serve his country a generation later, he also avoided service.

I wanted to end that with an exclamation point but there's no need to overemphasize pure truth. This country is in danger of full on losing its major foothold with the rest of the world. The more we oppose the world in its face, the more we offer a similar opposition to the needs of those at home, the more we set ourselves up for the hostile takeover we've puked all over others. 20:25 “I don’t want them to have to sell half the ranch just to pay taxes on it.” First of all, that is a HUGE overestimation on what their overall tax burden would be. In 2016, the exemption was $5.45 million per PERSON or $10.9 million per married couple. That means, only the 5.45 million and first dollar, or 10.9 million and first dollar (and up) for married couples would potentially be taxed at the 40% rate he was talking about. Not to mention they could begin to “gift” the estate at $28,000 per person per year tax free into a family trust, and avoid any tax altogether. The shortsightedness of these folks is astounding.

      KO - from what I gathered from the video, the good people in Roberts Co. voted for Trump for two general reasons:1) Trump promised Tax Relief in the form of repealing the Estate Tax. He and the GOP have yet to do this and probably never will. The tax reform they pushed through was a big win for the very wealthy and the big multinational corporations. The folks of Roberts will not see anything more from Trump on this front.2) The hatred and/or mistrust of Hillary Clinton. I can't blame them there. The Dems forced a really bad candidate on the nation and like so many poor candidates before her, she deserved to lose. however, now that she's lost, the conservatives still seek to use her ghost as a political punching bag.
      I'm pretty sure the GOP could have put up Bozo the Clown and the folks in Roberts Co would have voted for him if Hillary was still running. Had the Dems allowed a fair and equal primary, I think the race could have come out much differently. But alas, the powers that be got what they wanted, as usual.

      @kellyowens1868 6 років тому +8

      + Steve Williams + I must commend you for one of the few thoughtful
      and reasoned comments posted in this section. This is not to say that you may be operating under some conclusions, serious ones, that do not stand up to scrutiny.
      1, Virtually everything you believe about the the tax cuts for one thing.
      a. The company I work for, attributed the company wide raises, and the one time bonuses everyone received to the to the decrease in the corporate tax rate. This combined with a significant tax decrease that I have realized in my own paychecks, bely your assertion that the tax cut bill affected the "very wealthy" predominantly. In my more than four decades, in the american workforce, there isn't one piece of legislation,
      to more clearly improve my life, or the lives of millions of other americans, than this one. I'was struggling to maintain a middle class
      lifestyle, and this is no longer the case, and I am far from the "very wealthy" you wish to .castigate.
      2. I have the unfair advantage over you, in having reached out to this family, through relatives who live nearby, through their church, and know 1st hand about this family, now. I feel the need to inform you at this point, so that you do not falsely ramble-off into ugly stereotype territory,
      that I neither voted for President Trump, nor am I a person of faith. I've
      been a life-long atheist, not that, that should matter, but you can see why I felt the need to point this out. While this heavily biased "One year Later," style report, chose to focus on the estate-tax issue, as a way to further demonize this family of Trump voters. it actually played little role
      in their voting choices. In reality, "the estate tax" was of little concern to these people, as they were really never in any jeopardy of coming under it's austere auspices, financially. While they were compelled by the "reporter" and the ABC producers, to comment on it, the estate tax was barely on their electoral landscape. They may have been looking another generation or two down the road, as their assets come no where near the $11million dollar threshold to "qualify" for this most arbitrarily applied form of double, and triple, form of taxation. This impression was almost completely a creation, and exaggeration of the producers of this 'Documentary."
      I might add that those who believe that this video is not a very contrived. presentation of an agenda, with it's on focus on certain hot button, issues, loaded & leading questions, and heavily edited responses, arranged to achieve maximum impact, that they have little idea, the lengths the establishment MSM is willing to go, to protect it's hegemony
      over our media diet. The legacy media is in an existential fight, and they are far more aware of this, than is the general public. Perhaps you media selections have not informed you that this is just the first stage of tax reform, with the next installment aimed more directly at the middle, and working classes. I for one can hardly wait, not for any benefits that might apply to me personally, but in anticipation of the further stimulus that the economy, and all americans, can expect to see. The improved economy, seen in the historically low levels of unemployment among minority communities, can be dismissed by the most blinded, by their own partisan concerns.
      I look forward to any reply that you might have, and hope that it remains as thoughtful as your first. KOut

      KO - I am in favor of Tax Reform, but the GOP did not give us reform, they gave us reduction. The tax code was 2600+ pages before the tax bill and it is sightly larger now with these new provisions. In fact, the GOP tax breaks will serve me (personally) very well. I can expect my 2018 - 2026 tax bills to be half what they were just last year. Yet, if this is so great for me and my family, then why would I oppose it?
      Simple. It's not tax reform. It's a tax holiday for large multinational corporations that have outsourced and off-shored US jobs to lower wage nations, in the name for free trade, for decades. The GOP threw in some chicken bones for us in the middle class, but they are short lived and will expire in 2026.
      You say, this is only phase 1 and the GOP will bring even more tax breaks to the middle class.
      I say, horse-hockey. Anything they push out will be a short term give away to buy votes in November.
      See, the GOP controls all three houses right now and can rewrite the tax code any way they deem fit. The Democrats are powerless to stop them. Problem is, they can't cut the budget. They can't take away Grandma's Social Security and Medicare. If they do, they'll be voted out in the biggest landslide since 1994. They will not cut the military budget and there's not enough left over to make any meaningful changes.
      That means they must run up the Federal Deficit to pay for these tax breaks. That means more T-Bills and more interest paid on those bills. That interest comes from my (future) tax dollars, my children's tax dollars and my grand children's tax dollars. It also means your children and all children of this nation is being sold into serious debt for tax breaks today. This is not sustainable.
      Yet, like so many CEO's they beg for campaign contributions, the GOP is only looking to the next quarter, the next year, the next election, believing the tickle down economics of the past. When in fact, they should be looking 5, 10 and 20 years down the road. To be fair, some congress-critters are economically forward looking, but they are in the vast minority in both parties. Most are beholden to their campaign contributors and the desires of those contributors is to have a congress-critter than favors lower corporate taxes and lower progressive taxes, at any cost. It is, cutting off our nose, despite our face.
      But, the economic growth will offset.... blah, blah, blah.
      No, it will not. Not once has this voodoo economics , major tax cut plan, given our economy a large, long term growth spurt that offset the long term costs of the tax cuts. Reagan cut taxes and deregulated banks while spending massive sums on the military. The economy boomed from 1983 to 1987 and then those same banks Reagan "freed from debilitating regulations," crashed the economy. The price tag for that growth, $3TT (yes, that's three trillion) added to the Federal Deficit that was just over $1TT in 1980. The other price paid, millions losing their jobs to "down-sizing" as corporate mergers and corporate raiders ran amuck in the laissez-faire policies under Reagan.
      The techno-dot-com boom of the 1990's, spurred by major tech advances that had nothing to do with tax cuts, gave the US a federal surplus in 1997, it's first since 1969. Then, Bush gave us a big tax break in 2001. Soon, we were heading for a major recession and then he took us to war in Afghanistan and then into Iraq. Never before in our history have we gone to Actual War without raising taxes to pay for it. Then, there was that little crash in 2008 that can be directly traced back to the deregulation of the investment banking system in the late 1990's and the repeal of Glass Steagall.
      So, here we are in 2018, with the biggest tax break in history handed down on a silver platter. At the same time you celebrate those extra dollars in your paycheck KO, Trump is alienating all our allies and is engaging us in a global Trade War that is going to send us into a major recession. You'll need those extra dollars because the Trade War is going to result in major inflation for the next 3-7 years.

      @Kolya Dizel Many of us who think for ourselves don't rely on these although do scour them all to keep up with differing view points and the false narratives being pushed by most MSM. I actually use independent media sources for the majority of news, yet still research even these further. Fox News is the most biased of the mainstream media outlets that I have seen out there. If you want unbiased media, or are open minded enough to look for independent media streams, check out ones that don't have an agenda in mind but are only reporting the actual news and are not trying to sway you in any particular direction. That's how you can always tell if they are biased. It should be facts of the events reported truthfully and not skewed to fit a narrative.
      These sources have check the bias in media: www.adfontesmedia.com/interactive-media-bias-chart/?v=402f03a963ba
      library.fvtc.edu/News/BiasCheck
      There are others that have done the same if you wish to look into it further. But this should give you at least a glimpse into independent analysis of media biases. Some don't like seeing them and immediately balk at the thought of "their" news agency being biased, but the facts remain the facts. It shouldn't be taken personally. But we should all arm ourselves with the truth and ferret out what brings about that reaction in ourselves then deal with the facts at hand. Good luck in your search!

      Joe K The green new deal was a resolution with no teeth, and climate change will actually kill us all so not sure what you’re complaining about. Getting rid of the electoral college isn’t something that democrats are serious about because we all know it will never pass. It just sounds good to disaffected (and essentially disenfranchised) rich whites in California and New York. But is having everyone’s voice be equal harmful to folks who are used to having their voices count more? Nope. But making things more equal has always been received with anger from the previously privileged. And Bernie is a democratic socialist, not a socialist. Look up the difference. Not that it matters, but socialism isn’t in and of itself a bad thing, even though there are a few examples of it not working (for reasons external to it having been socialism, by the way).

      Feel proud about LYING? 8.25 million a year goes to cattle ranchers in Texas? NOPE NO, beef farmers and ranchers do not receive a check just for raising cattle, nor do they receive government compensation when cattle prices are low. Like essentially every industry in the U.S., the government is involved in some way, but with beef the government is involved much more in food safety certification after the animal is harvested.There are two types of entities who receive the "subsidies" -direct and indirect. Direct payments to cattlemen only happen in a handful of certain situations. One is DISASTER relief. Much like FEMA grants money to people affected by a natural disaster, the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) will do the same for ranchers or farmers.
      Another way a direct payment can occur is through a NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Service) grant. These grants are available because the government has goals it would like to accomplish, such as improved wildlife habitat. NRCS pays the farmer or rancher to accomplish a specific action on that person’s private land. This isn’t really a subsidy, but rather is a private person working on behalf of the government, modifying his or her land to match a government objective. It is important to note that most conservation practices farmers or ranchers take are done without government involvement, such as erosion control or grazing management techniques.

But I was very tempted to vote for Trump at times. I actually had to fight that temptation. It was not because I am some racist white guy. I am a black woman who is a conservative Christian. It is because of the behavior of the Democratic party and the far left. Their attitude toward people who are not exactly the way they think they should be is really frightening. They talk down to people and denigrate them and that breads a lot if resentment . Every time a left wing reporter or dem would insult people who genuinely where affected by loose border laws ( but had no problem with legal immigration) or called reformer Muslims "hateful" or dismissed a pro life woman's opinions as "internalized misogyny" I was SO angry! I think that is why Bernie became so popular. I can't stand his positions but he was honest about what he wanted and he actually went to conservative audiences and spoke to them as though they were actually people and not knuckle draggers who needed to be "shown the way". We all need to try and understand, each other instead if demonizing each other .

      He suddenly began attacking me (online) about how I'm anti cop (I would like accountability within police), I'm a communist (because I liked many of bernie ideas), I'm a Hillary supporter (I literally had conversations with him prior about how I'm not with her), and I hate America.

      Living off of handouts and favors is not a virtue, self reliance is! The harder it is to be self reliant, the worse it is for everybody including the people your supposedly trying to help. These people want to be able to provide for THEMSELVES, and they want everybody else to have the ability to provide for THEMSELVES so that everybody can have the ability to be prosperous and free. A government lab-rat doesn't have to depend on itself for food and healthcare however, in order to obtain "free" food in must submit itself to the government's experiments, it has what it needs to survive but the rat is NOT free! Eventually after becoming habituated to the human-hand the lab rat will loose it's ability to forage in nature on it's own; the rat would die if something happened to the state's supply chain. In this way the collectivist mindset is very dangerous! Conservatives don't want to "solve" the problems of others, rather conservatives want people to have the ability to solve their own problems! Just like WE want to have the ability to solve OUR own problems! Not to mention economics; wealth is generated by the production of goods and services (which is an economic FACT that runs contrary to the progressive belief that wealth can be created by printing money). An economy where everybody is working, producing, and able to provide for THEMSELVES is a strong, prosperous economy that benefits everybody. If you actually cared about people you would vote for policies that incentivize production and encourage self reliance.

    • @MikelosM
      @MikelosM 6 років тому +30

      It baffles me that people think the estate tax is something about which to get upset. Firstly, only 1 in 500 families even have enough wealth to ever be affected by it. Secondly, if you have that much wealth (>$5.5m), I don't care what form it comes in, you are not obligated to be in a position where you have to financially struggle. Thirdly (and perhaps most importantly), why do people think they're entitled to tax-free money? When wealth changes hands in this country, it is taxed - pure and simple. Just because you're in the same family doesn't mean you have some moral claim to circumvent that when someone dies.
      Should the rancher son get out of paying taxes on his income just because his father is cutting him a check every month? Of course not: that's idiotic. So why should it be any different when someone dies and hands you wealth that you didn't even actually work for to earn?

    • @cskipper65
      @cskipper65 6 років тому +10

      MikelosM because it is a huge percentage. I have told many people this before. If you think the government should take nearly half of your families wealth you will literally take out a large percentage of agricultural base accept some of the the huge corporate owned companies that have other sources of income and can avoid taxe bills like this because owners own small amounts of stock. You would literally decimate the backbone of the agriculture industry and ship it over seas where land is cheap. One of the largest beef providers in the world is Brazil who would profit from it and would cut down more rainforest and provide sub par product. Because this tax effects smaller amounts of families doesn't make it right to take away their source of income and their way of life over generations. Unfortunately many liberals dont care about rights they only care a about taking away from those that appear rich on paper.

      The only way countries will ever have a full blown trade war with the US is if they can start getting products that rival US inventions and inovations. And, the only way to have that is by having a capitalist economy which promotes and motivates people to compete with other businesses to crank out the best products ever conceived.
      The US has been at this ever since its conception in 1776, while other countries went down the path of authoratative regimes that brought their economy to a halt, and at the same time, killed motivation and inovation by people.

      nice buzz term there bud. 3 things wrong with that. 1: what may be a "living wage" in one state may not even be enough for utilities in another. Living in a more country setting like montana is a HELL of a lot cheaper than new your, where monthly rent is multiple thousands of dollars a month. 2: you're demanding that people pay a large amount of money to someone with zero skills doing a job that someone with a barely functioning brain can do. You want to make more money? get educated. There are plenty of cheap trade schools that you can attend over the course of a few months so you can start earning a much better salary and actually start climbing the financial ladder towards something worthwhile, or at least much better than a fast food restaurant manager. 3: these are JOBS, not CAREERS. A fast food JOB is something meant for a high school student looking to get some workplace experience before they go out into the word after school, it is NOT for a guy to feed his family of 4. The opportunities to improve are out there, they are abundant, they are cheap, and most importantly, they lead to well paying CAREERS. If you don't want to save up the money for this education, then that's YOUR choice. Don't legislate business owners to pay you more because you can't be bothered to improve yourself.
