Instead of exporting the drums of avocado oil to Italy, where it is bottled and exported as a value added product world-wide, they should bottle and export the avocado oil themselves.

The refining machines are 20× more expensive! That's why many producers go for crude!

Absolutely. It’s then exported to USA and other European countries where we pay about 1600 shillings for 16oz bottle

The real issue i'm having with your comment is that the bottleing of avocado oil does not add much value, this man already added most of the value to the product by transforming it.
The issue is that he is not compensated fairly for the value he added through the transformative process ...
The italian embottling company is the one grifting.
I dont know much about trading deals between kenya and italy, but it might have set up this predatory situation.

    • @BaronEvola123

Sounds like a good idea and it's always good to have value added products, but there are thousands of considerations to take into account, from secure energy to processing to controls to investments.
IDK anything about the process itself, nor if it's worth it for this item to be manufactured locally vs.
      it being exported.
It sounds good, but Kenya(?) may find more value in exchanging raw food stuffs for a tech transfer, for instance.
You're looking at a very low-tech operation here. This looks like an operation that could be in Europe in the early 1900's.
It's on it's way and that's good, but it's far from 1st world, international
      standards.
      Right now, this is not a high-tech, high value operation. Infrastucture;
roads, reliable electricity/energy will determine first what is possible.
While being a nice product, Avocado oil is not high on the "to do" list. It's downstream from more pressing considerations.
This video is basically a "shout out"
      to possible investors.
If you feel the way you do, put some $ together, go bribe some officials and invest.

Kudos, my young African Brothers its irony that Italy is # 1 importer of oils like olive, avocado etc. I don't think they do magic to it but bottle it with fancy names and sell to the world. You guys can research and get the value added business and yes they sell back to us Africans.

Ok the process of drying the pulp on the trays. I believe he uses the waste to make brickets and the brickets are used to heat the boiler which contains water and when the boiler gets hot it produces steam, the hot steam is then directed to the trays via pipes to dry the pulp. The pulp while in the process of drying produces water. Man that is really genious. Thats what i call circular economy. He can re-use the water that comes from drying the pulp, back into the boilers

When President, Dr. William Ruto says that we add value to our products, this is the kind of activity he wants us to get into. The Professors, Mechanical Engineers should study this process and write further thesis about how to improve, and replicate at say KShs 500K instead of 40 million. The last person who said so was Moi when he constructed three Nyayo pioneer cars. We have a lot of avocado in this country and we can get more of these oil factories and get the women and young men out of the streets,
