This was my first race at seven years old. Did not realize this would be the only time I saw Richard win a race. Even had tickets to Rockingham and gave them away. Just my luck
Imagine if Bobby Allison did this interview today. "Well, Chris, the Donald Bradkins Chevrolet was running pretty strong all day, but she done blowed up. We'll just get this thing fixed and get back at it at Hickory on Friday, then at Richmond on Sunday."
Ill tell ya what i never liked Petty but i always liked the fact that he ran multiple cars and put Tiny, Grover Cleveland Spencer (lol) Hamilton, Paschal, Dr. Don, etc. etc. in the backups
@@MichaelBarrJr ABC programming was in color by that point. This would have been shot on color film and aired in color originally but kinescoping the broadcast results in the color film being preserved as B/W film.

Got to see the 43 go back to victory lane in the southern 500 for the first time since this race last night
Sweet post. Boy I wish I could see a few of those cars better. Just the audio by itself is worth the post though. Thanks..
Richard Petty's 69th NASCAR Grand National Victory
No it was his 55th win
Thanks for sharing.

It's a shame the first part of the race isn't shown. I suppose maybe it doesn't exist anymore or they didn't show it in the first place.
Likely the latter.
This appears to be a poor-quality black-and-white kinescope of a race originally taped in color.
altfactor ABC never did color races till I believe 69
