      The first launch i got to see up close and in person was Challenger, in 1986. I was 10 and we just moved to very close to the cape. Close enough that it looked like pieces were going to fall on me.

      STS-95, when John Glenn returned to space was my last launch.(I live in Nassau, Fl.) I had just finished THREE 18 hour days of working a stage for a rock show, and I wanted to sleep for about 18 hours! Nope, my fiancé packs us up and off we go, and I had COMPLETELY forgotten about it, until we got there. I moaned and cried. Then I was 12 years old again, and ready to go! Everyone just laughed at me! True story! :) I have the team pack decal of STS-125 on this very workstation I'm on right now! That was my very last official STS team decal.

    I'm taking hope from #9, AI and antibiotic resistance, which is a particular concern to me as a Surgical Tech for 35 years. Trying to get my workplace to stop buying Antibiotic hand soap. Washing it down the drain is just making the bugs stronger, which would eventually kill us all.

    Quantum tunneling is mostly a nuisance in integrated circuits, one of the biggest obstacles to shrinking transistor sizes even further.
    The current 3 nm process should be compared to the atom size of silicon which is 0.2 nm, a transistor is not many atoms wide and electrons that tunnels to places that they aren't supposed to be is a bitch to deal with.
    The actual transistors are larger than 3 nm, closer to 50 nm, but the issue still remains.

    John, I have an unrelated question. Your personal channel in total has 509 videos (and I like all of them) but your playlist with the title "The whole channel" has only 260 videos. Why?

    • @JohnMichaelGodier
      @JohnMichaelGodier  4 місяці тому +2

      Short answer is UA-cam. It unticks boxes every time they revise the system. So I'll make a video, choose the proper playlists, and then six months later the boxes somehow get unticked and the video often drops out of the playlist without me knowing. So once a year, I have to go through them all and curate everything. Not a short process for over 500 videos, and while I have a youtube representative I can contact, they never seem to be aware of or understand the problem. An even more problematic issue is that youtube actually unsubscribes people from channels without warning. I hear it from viewers all the time wondering how they got unsubscribed. All of this has been going on for several years, and they haven't fixed it.

    • @LAMPROS311
      @LAMPROS311 4 місяці тому

      @@JohnMichaelGodier Sounds like a real mess. Especially the second part about unsubscribing people without warning. I hope that AI will help avoiding and solving these problems in the near future.
