I learned today that Bruce Hornsby is a distant relative of Cardinals great Rogers Hornsby, and that's his bust you can see in a few shots on Bruce's piano. Rogers Hornsby has one of my favorite baseball quotes : "People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I stare out the window and wait for spring"
Bruce was a blessing. Wish he would have joined full time, but he def made a horrible situation bareable. Those 90/91 shows hold up well
My father had a 1933 world series ball signed by the entire team + pitching coaches the best most visible Signature out of all the signatures was Roger Hornsby .
Years later, my father came to me and said the baseball was missing snd that he " wanted to ask if my son might even taken it "
I told him no I know my son wouldn't do that
My son committed suicide some years after that I had told my son that my family are a bunch of self absorbed hypocritical coward lowlife nobody's before this
I told him his grandfather tried to blame him for that ball
After my grandmother passed I moved out west bcuz of all this
Then a few years later my son ended it .
I regret telling him about that ball .
After my son's funeral my sister admitted to me that my father had " sold the ball to a baseball card store for $40 ( forty dollars)
To buy lotto scratchoff tickets.
I was triggered by reading this comment but I'm now a Christian snd able to control my emotions
As I type this I am reassured that this is true so I thank you for posting.
I am a huge fan of Bruce and had noclue he was a relative of Roger's
I used to have the reprint of Roger's Hornsbys card and I can visualize it rn in my mind and I realize they look uncannily similar
God bless ❤
It was a bright windy day,Roger n i went to the show..it was a beautiful day..i thank you Father for my journey..i love you so much for your generosity you share with me..may my short time on earth be glory to you😊

Bruce with some beautiful and really interesting comping on this one.

I love it when grateful dead pops up on my phone occasionally when enshrined in stock market studies... A medicine indeed...🎉
thank you dave!!! 🌹💀🌹💀☝️🦄🍄🥀
I'll have to go back and check, but I don't think I ever got 1/2 step as an opener.
My 21st Birthday! Our first time in Colorado. Such an amazing show 🎉
Powerful, strong showing of this and one of the best of the Bruce/Vince era. Thanks for uploading!
My brother and I snuck into this concert. Santana opened. I was trippin.
Mississippi half step 🫠 One of my favorites! Thank you 😘
When they jammed this into Franklin's Tower, was simply mind blowing.
this is great, thanks so much; i don't believe I have seen this before
No pro-shot video of this show has ever been release as far as I know. First time for EVERYONE!
@nedrobinson7490 they will probably charge us for it someday.
My first show! Took my father and had a blast.
Nice 1st!
Cool you could share it with your Dad. ❤
This was my 447th GD show. ☺️
Another great version of this song from the Hornsby years, is the Capital Center show from 91 on Bob Marley’S birthday. The matrix version on Internet archive is sublime. Also the Scarlet>Fire> Stir it Up is terrific. Check out that show folks!
I was there!! Did this whole tour!! It was incredibly fun, this was the last show of East Coast Summer Tour. This show was a blast, dropped a 10 strip on the walk inside🫡🤯🎉🎊 danced all night in the middle of the floor in an aisle about 30 rows back from the stage
🕉⚡️🍄☯️☮️
Definitely wouldn't call Co east coast assuming the title of the location is correct
Thank you
THANKS AGAIN FOR GRATEFUL DEAD VIDEOS I SO GLAD ..
3months old. Jamin’
I was there. Carlos almost wasn't. Peace!
Incredible everything.
That fan guy knew what he was doing.
He was probably in with the photographer..lol
The finest versions obviously were with Brent, but we'll take what we can get of this gem
❤ Agreed ❤
@@CryptoCopilots Always remember that it took 2 men to replace him and still not do it as well ⚡️
Nobody replaced Brent.
@@brianteichert1959 huh?
Brent had mammoth music skill.
Yessireee Bob. On my way...
Isn't it funny that the De😮ad gives us life?
❤ LOVE IT! Thanks for posting! 🔥(~);} 🔥

Get a dance working groove
Untuck your shirt and move
It doesn’t hurt to be smooth
I seen a dude and a chick dance to it
The beat and cold on the Street
Dance set off and on the Street the block
I seen a crew dance strewn around was trash
It was in Amsterdam
It was dirty
I clocked some Hashish 7:30 pm.
All I wanted to be was G men
So I sail the 7 seas then
For no reason
Just to feel the breeze in my hair
You eat Hashish to be a player
I ran for mayor and won
Someone shot me with a gun
I quit politics and hum with scholar’s wit
Broken
Smoked his eye out
So you could see the come up
One from that like that just like that thus
Like a bike tire flat
Pump it up
I put the patch on
My tires don’t last long
I burn rubber
You could hear the thunder when I bike down the mountains
I got such good wind I can run uphill
Without losing my wind
I got the kill buds
Ganja
Go bomber all day long
I even got a thong bikini
That’s see through
So you could see who you’re messing with
I got ready for dinner ate a big dish of linguini and seafood
My dinner was a winner
I ate the fisherman’s stew
He told me all the old me
Would cease to be
Down at the wharf
I got a crash course in fishing
I cast a net
I kicked back
Took a step
Drew in the net to see what I get
All the fisherman’s bounty
In mountains
Count by the pound not the ounce
There wasn’t a soul around
Who didn’t feel the soul
Of the big fish bowl
I ate that night
I love the seafood
I sold some to a sushi chef
I took a deep breath
Stepped to the kitchen
And yes the mission was a success
Killer sushi
Learn how to fish!
whwere is a good asid rock tune when you need one
Hello
This is pro shot obviously. Has the rest of it been released yet?

The Rio Grande is due to become one of the most heavily militarized zones in the world soon. So is it your generation who keep hitting up the geriatric ward voting for Trump and the other old geezer I would not gainfully employ in any capacity? God must love old dudes. You rule!
Vote Trump for peace ✌️

Only shows I don't listen to are these with Bruce and Vince. I'm probably missing a few good jams too, I get it. But those two could not hold a candle to Brent!
You’re missing out on ALOT
Speechless. Only Tears. 😢 A real man, a real song and a real sound. Total legends. 🙏 An Eternal Band 💒
I'll have to go back and check, but I don't think I ever got 1/2 step as an opener.
😂 I went back and checked. Out of the 7 times I saw 1/2 Step, 3 were show openers, 1 was the second song and 1 opened the second set .
All you’ve got to live for-first man takes the sails-When Jerry would blow a verse the crowd reaction was typically “it’s all good Jerry” when Bob spaced a lyric he’d shake his head scolding himself-and we’d all laugh and cheer-but these situations only endeared us to these amazing brothers, humans who consciously never abused the power of that stage -instead in the early days sharing income with their extended family and re-investing huge amounts of money in the pursuit of the most cutting edge and groundbreaking concert sound experience for all of us- GD Eternal MaxLove
Bobby forgetting the Truckin' or UJB lyric order even after 20 years was kind of endearing ja we forgive all of it due to their effort to mix up the setlists!
I had this song in my head today, I guess we're on the same wavelength! 🧠⚡🧠 A nice '91 pick with Bruce on the keys! 🎹
This was the first dead song I really knew, and i heard it at my first show! Always a treat, thank you!
nice era nice tours they were
Some really nice licks by Bruce here, i hardly ever listen to this era but he was a great fit.
Bruce was definitely feeling it, and he & Jer possessed excellent chemistry. His passion & skill shines through in a big way!
I recommend l.a. forum 12.10.89 with Bruce as a guest. It's on the archive. Explosive. I wish Dave would consider the December '89 l.a. run as a release, bit there are guests, and the rights to release that cost $
Flew out from California for this one. Carlos opened lots of fun! N.F.A 65-95!!!
I❤ Grateful Dead.
Since 1969.
I love Mickey's playing and vibe on this
Excellent. Give us the whole show. And LA Coliseum.
Sandstone shows leading into Mile High are very underrated
Fun and good shows! Excellent call
Music Never Stopped @ Sandstone is absolutely insane! Only met like 3 heads that know what I’m talking about when I bring it up either. You are very right 👌
@@nedrobinson7490 Yes! Then the long Fire kick off set 2....and then Jerry slowly prying Comes A Time out of Space was so frickin sick. What beautiful night that was!
Need to go listen to this now
Need to go listen to this now
Present
saw them with Bruce in 91 in luisville KY.....was a good show, missed Bret, but Bruce played happily....
I miss Brent ❤
Me too! A lot!
Wahhh It's wonderful to wake up to this. How beautiful. Namaste from India 93/93
I know it’s stale beating a dead horse stuff, but, Jesus those Bob shorts
they are jorts
I think this was the show where Carlos Santana opened, but late because of a drug bust in Houston. What a deal. I was on the ground, close up. Good stuff.
Didn't a woman and her two children recently drown on that river recently because people were prevented from helping her?
I miss these guys.
If you could just take Vince out of the mix, it would be a decent version!
the man killed himself...i believe he's heard enough
Really needed to cancel not only Shoreline Fall 1990, but east coast & Europe and really NYE and that small west coast run and tried anew in 1991 with more time committed to getting a better Brent replacement than Vince. It would have been better for everyone, imo
MSG '90 was great and small parts of Europe, as well (Berlin), but hindsight is pretty useless.
@@kperry1969 they should have toured less towards the end but to make Vince the key problem is so silly
@nicolasaguilar1258 Jerry was fading badly, obviously, and many of the new tunes and covers weren't very good. There were issues. Vince imo was not very good. Nice guy, but pretty unimpressive. He tried.
Brent fried on the Acid.
Tasty!❤
