- "Debuting in 1977, Jack-A-Roe stuck around for a couple of years, returned for the acoustic sets in 1980, after which it was played quite frequently to start the 1980s, petering out by the mid 1980s. In December 1988, however, it returned and would remain a consistent part of the Dead's live sets until 1995." - David Lemieux

We've got music from every single studio album and a bevy of live albums, to boot. There are celebrated live performances from the 70s and 80s and official videos with more skeletons than you can shake your bones at, an exclusive seaside series on what's to come from the band's rich catalog and details on meet-ups all across the promised land. If it's community you’re after, try your hand at our yearly DEAD COVERS PROJECT competition and connect with fellow Dead Heads around the world. Heck, keep your eyes peeled you might even catch a glimpse of Pigpen on keys, Jerry in a GROOVE, Bobby tellin' tales, Mickey talkin' space, Phil and friends, Bill on the beach, or anyone from our extended family.
It's all happenin' right here. Subscribe and you won't miss a thing.

This was a great show!
Thanks for putting this out for us ! Been on the bus since '82! What a wonderful magical ride for me and our family. Best regards,
Chicago Il.
I was blessed to see this a few times touring between 1985- 1995. Loved this old timey story telling unique style, like a folk tale type of song. If the Dead were anything, they were unique & original.
I was at this show! I remember my buddy Shannon, singing along with this. I can still hear his voice alongside Jerry's, even though both are gone now. ❤
Thanks for the history
Play JERRY so freaking talented a genius he was to good for this world dance on deadheads
I was at this show and it was the best ever!
Try to find a clip of Tennessee Jed for this show.
You won't be disappointed because Jerry is so happy and is interacting with Hornsby along with his wild, cool looking hair blowing in the wind.
All come together in an epic version of Tennessee Jed!
The whole show was fantastic, and I literally could write a book about all the things I saw and experienced during the show!
It was that incredible!
✌️❤️
Same!
I'm pretty sure I was at this show as well. Dwight Yoakam openning.
I think RFK stadium was one of the first cassette tapes i had dubbed when i was 16
There was a small bicycle shop in my midwestern hometown in the early 90sowned by 2 Deadheads( Deep Elem Brews)?) ) who were also doing the homebrewing way before it went mainstream.
They offered a tape dubbing service if you brought in blanks theyd copy a show for you
This is how i got started collecting Dead shows in the pre- youtube Era
I'm not sure having everything you want at the click of a button is better than the way it was ...
Life seemed easier back then
All I know is I love the dead more w each year of my life passes by and that
JerrBears' hair is so awesome blowing around in this performance
The fiddler deserves a beer for being the highlight of this jack _a_roe imo
Killer show and love this❤
I've been chopping single tracks from shows from all years and re editing w colorful visual fx as a hobby. I'm just a homeless deadhead in oregon but this gives me something to do to keep my spirits up
I happened upon you're comment and I'm in the mood to make another dead project so I'll try to chop Tennesee Jed and it should be uploaded by this evening
Ilk try to let you know in the comments here when I do
And I hope it brings you joy ❤
Stop talking, start doing.
Grateful Dead with Dwight Yoakum as the opener, and with Mr. Bruce Hornsby supporting Mr. Vince Welnick. Who could ask for anything more? I will. How about the "Black Throated Wind" where there was a misplayed note, and Bobby gets a funny look on his face. Worth the price of admission. I was in the first level in the Phil Zone. Jerry just rockin' away.
Im fortunate I was able to see about 13 Dead Shows and the stadium when the wind is blowing and the music is flowing, and everyone is just dancin and the energy was incredible....
Love the hair blowing in the wind
I was there! 🔥 I wish i could go back to the days of Jerry! It was such a different vibe that'll never be duplicated in my life.
Think ahead, man.
🌹💀🌹💀🌹 Rip Jerry, Rip Pigpen, Rip Keith, Rip Hunter, Rip Brent 🌹💀🌹💀🥀🍄🦄🥀🧝♀️🧝♂️☝️
A gem, by itself and here Vince took it a new dimension
Great year with Bruce and the boys. Glad I saw a bunch of shows that year ❤😊
😅😊😊😅😅😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Hah I was at this show!!! Woo Hoo! Love you 🙏😇🤗🦋♥️❣️
Same here!!!
Peace and love darlings
Long live JERRY until the wheels fall off
I was there. thanks for the post.
Once upon a time, when America was free. Jerry's hair looks angelic.
Love it
So many Memories from this show!! It was one of the last shows Brent did before he left us...
Actually Brent passed July of 1990, after playing Chicago. That's why Bruce Hornsby & Vince Welnik were on this cut.
My favorite JACK-A-ROE. My favorite FILMED Dead show.
I remember this show
Is this the shortest Dead song? Just about five minutes...😮! Thanks folks. From beautiful Ann Arbor Michigan " Go Blue" and please keep these beautiful tracks coming! 🎉
Dont know if this is the shortest Dead song ever...but may be the shortest shorts ever worn by Bob Weir for sure....lol
Traverse City, checking in. Go Blue. Forever Jerry. 💀⚡️🌹
@@Rasta426 😂
me & my uncle is shorter. a few others as well… maybe mama tried is less than that.
Man that synth fiddle is sure loud.
Yeah...I picked up on that also
Oh so it's supposed to be a fiddle?
Kind of ruined the whole tune for me
He walked all over Jerry's solos. Vince had a different sense of taste 🙄
Great memories from being at this show , Thanks !
I was there too!
one of my favorites
WOOOOOO!!! 💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺
I was there! Thank you so much for the memories!
Jerry with the Bozo hair. Said with deep love and affection.
Miss him!

Hello Grateful ones!! I need your help with something... I was watching a live Dead concert on here a few months back (think it was from the 80s or 90s) and I read a comment from someone saying him and his friend were at that gig. He said a few weeks later his friend passed away though and was buried in his Grateful Dead t-shirt!!
I thought that was worthy of a song so I've written and recorded a song for his friend. Only problem is, I cant for the life of me find the original comment. I wanted to drop the guy a message and tell him I wrote a song for his friend and send him a link.
Now I know its a long shot, but I don't suppose you remember such a comment and where I could roughly find it! Im stuck!! Many thanks, Liam, UK ✌🏻😊
I wish Bruce he played with them longer than he did. Great stuff!!
Jerry was on fire here, 1991 was a great year for the JGB as well!
1/12/24 7:44 am et. Jimmy rowed Jack to the Weir to fetch Roe, Jerome smiled... all while weilding The Holy Spear of Longiness (Jerome = Holy & Garcia= Spear)📜🪄
This version is pure chaos... for one reason. Uggg
Damn Vince, playing over jerry, drives me nuts!!!!
@@johnnycastallucci4962 Just cranking Jerry up another level.
Beautiful song, it's like the story of Mulan :)
I was there❤❤
IWT 🎉
@LienNnamenhab I live in the DC area so was blessed with RFK and Capital Center shows!
I was as well
Was this the tour with the train horn ? I remember the concrete. upper decks swaying from the dancing .
No, that was '92.
@@MrFloydsUniverseit 92, not 91
@@floepiejane thanks !
@@BigDan7114 no prob ✌🏽🌻
That was awesome. Casey Jones. I was up there, too!
I drew Jerry Garcia in my high school art class sideburns years photo I was asked if it was a self portrait if only my hair was his thickness graying at 16 balding at 20 and at thirties I have a serious bald spot
Do love me a good Sea Shanty , aarrhf🍄💦🌍🌜🍄🐟🍄
That casio is the 90's version of Donna.
That's literally EXACTLY what I was thinking. It was super distracting and stepping all over Jerry's awesome playing, just like Donna hollering in the background in those 70s shows.
It’s like the ice cream cone in the face
you don't listen to alot of 70's shows, hating too much on Donna@@hlf_coder6272
lol vince is loudest in the mix
Vince really grates on my nerves.
I think I was at this show. Did Traffic open?
Love me some Hornsby era Dead. Even if we have to hear some bad synth settings from Vince.
Bob Bralove did the settings.
I miss Brent more than ever. lol.
Nudge that vocal fader up a couple notches please.
Can we get new footage sometime? This concert was released ages ago
Their last show was not too long after this. Sadly the lead singer passed away in '95.
View From the Vault II. Great Maggie's Farm with Bob, Jerry, Bruce, Vince, and Phil each singing a chorus.
ya just don’t need it all
PHILOSOPHY
LOVE IS THE SOURCE
-PaulTeich-©️10/31/2023 This poem is about talking to God about love
Love is the source of all things
You are the source of all things
We can feel your love
Can you feel ours?
We can see examples of your power
Can you see ours?
Are ours destruction or planting flowers?
How do you view us from your ivory tower?
What keeps evil at Bay?
Is it a spell and Apple and leaf of bay?
Is it an old-fashioned ruler who thinks she is
A Bey?
Or is it the simple acts of simple people taking care of each other day by day?
You have given us love to turn Earth into
Eden
You let us know we were without true gnosis with the Apple Adam had eaten
Letting us know we get intrinsic worth from giving a rib and not from beating
Please take away indifference, give us peace and make us care if everyone is eating
Love is the source
Whether it comes from you or me, love takes us to heaven on a winged horse
May peace, love and poetry, save the world!!!
Right on! Thanks for helping me remember!
Gee, we haven’t seen this a million times or anything 🙄
Why are you so sad?
shouldve just stopped after summer 90 tour.
Plenty of good times were had after '90.
Now what is there? Couch tour with Mayer wrecking Garcia songs?
Surprise Garcia wanted to play all the way to his end- I hope you can live up to your own expectations all the way to the finish line
@bob733333 lol Mayer can juggle notes around Jerry's playing anyday. I think your mind is tainted from the acid.
mayor is a great blues player. as far as him playing dead- can't hold a candle to jerry. he should stick to blues.
@@JohnBrown-vx3rx just keep listening to Justin Bieber and you should be OK
Mythical hair vs Mythical shorts.
