I just started and was under the impression that the pain was part of the experience! 😂😭 Thank goodness I’ve found this vdo! Let the search begin!!
What is it
I literally just yesterday started looking into saddles for my wife. She got turned off road cycling because of saddle discomfort but I am determined to find a saddle that fits her just like I found one that fit me. Thanks for the help!
been there ;-)
It is worth it, good luck!
What is your saddle of choice? Leave us a comment!
Thankyou so much Heather for posting such a helpful video. I'm going to try the zip tie trick on my tri saddle straight away!
9:18 "it needs to be level or horizontal" is one of those old dogmas you better to avoid, pelvis is unique to every person as well as its natural rotation, even a tiny tilt can bring huge changes to overall feel on the bike
Level is the starting point. (There needs to be a starting point.)
super informative, thanks!
I've been thinking about this exact issue every time I get on my new indoor bike setup, ouch! Thanks for the video, very helpful!
It is worth investing the time, comfort is important!
saddle choice, position, tilt... EVERYTHING about a saddle is so personal. the best thing is to try many different saddles from an online saddle rental company and find what works for you individually, then keep adjusting it till it feels just right.
Best birthday present yet! The very video I've been hunting for for a year 💯
Oh brilliant, hope you find that dream saddle!
@@heatherfell_oly thanks! I hope so too.
Thank you, good advice for newbies :)
Thanks Leonore, hope it helps.
Us husbands need more videos like this. Thank you
This has to be one of the best down to earth explanation on a saddle fit for females that I have seen. Thanks for the education on the opposite gender saddle for comfort.
Thanks for sharing yours tips 🚴♀️
Hope they help!
Another great video!!
Thank you Len :)
Heather- Excellent topic. I am still a bit of a 70.3 "newbie" but riding comfort/saddle selection is still very much a discouraging part of my training regimen. From "sleeping hands" to "sleeping privates", I still can't seem to find the right saddle for myself. From generic-issued to higher-end saddles, ideal comfort still appears to be quite elusive. Sometimes I think a few sleeping pillows back there would do the trick! Ok, enough complaining but thank you for doing a GTN piece on such an important part of our training and performance and comfort!

Thanks Daniel, it does take some time experimenting.
Good advice! Working in a bike shop, I have many of these conversations all the time.
Personally, I prefer the Fizik Arione on my road bikes (I have three), Brooks leather for commuters and touring, and the Cobb for my tri-bike. Bottom line: support and comfort.
We need to spread the word together, it is possible to get comfortable on your bike.
I love my Anja saddle Bontrager
ISM Adamo are my saddle of choice for my road and TT bikes.
I arrived to the LBS with my wife to choose the saddle at 10am.
We left at 13:00 after she tried more than 10 (including rides outside the shop). Believe or not - only the last one was fitting her properly. Was it really because it matched her or the knowledge it was the last one in the shop? Nobody will ever know.
What more funny is: I have change my saddle few months later to ... the same my wife uses. If someone told me this I would have not believed ;-)
Great that she persevered!
Much better then the one I hade on board.
I'll be honest, I didn't know women's seats existed... This was very useful thank you
There's a growing market now which is great.
I just started cycling and I was in pain on my first ride. My dad mentioned to my aunt about the pain I was feeling and turns out the lady my aunt was riding with had the same problem as me.
....thank u, interesting.
Any idea on how you would go about finding a place that would do a saddle fitting?
I went online to the selle Italian a website and they have a list of places who carry out their own type of fitti g that correspond to their saddle range. It really helped me find the right type for me
Don’t wear underwear? This make sense although I have never heard this. I’m also not a pro rider. I put 5000 miles on my road bike last year but my sit bones are hurting. 😫. What shorts do you recommend?
Great video as always. Recently got an ISM saddle and bought cable ties to do the adjustment you mention. How on earth do you make this work? I’m clearly being really stupid. The minute I put the saddle on the bike and the rails into the bits they sit in (technical I know haha) the cable tie snaps because the rails are parallel. Help! What am I doing wrong?!
Also apart from the giant saddles they make they’re all around 130 width. Do some women have sitting bones that are this narrow? Are you not meant to sit on them on these saddles? Sorry if a totally stupid question. :))
How to start a video to perfection.
Very informative video,thanks!
I can ISM adamo attack saddle width is 110mm is this size comfortable for females, I have narrow hip bone but still concerned whether it would fit?
Is it to big for a 12 years old girl?
Anti-numb-nuts technology.
Does anyone know the word VULVA? Embarrassed? Are we 10?
Shes talking about all the parts around the pelvic, not just the vulva. So what's the matter with saying private parts or soft tissue?
why not to wear underwear under cycling shorts?
Cycling shorts are designed to sit directly next to your skin for optimum comfort.
Does this saddle make my butt look big? 😆
