Some of the links I use are commission links - these help me out a tiny little bit in terms of commission, and don't affect you in anyway! It means so much to me if you do decide to go through my links - lots of love always!! ♡
this was the best explanation I've ever seen of the hip thrust. Now I can go back to it with confidence and ignore all the snide comments knowing I will soon strike back with the buns of justice
😂😂I’m dead
Hey man as a guy who is victim of the "dead glute" does this exercice really make your glutes grow ? Can you tell me if it worked for you ?
@@tuuluamaliefh9743 Gyms were closed by socialism, er, I mean, coronavirus so I didn't really get to do these for long enough to find out for sure. But what I did notice is I was definitely WEAK on this exercise when I started. I was doing linear progression adding more weight each time for same number of sets/reps and was progressing just fine. I definitely think its worth doing. I would also reccomend the reverse hyper as well.
I realize it is kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good place to stream newly released movies online?
@@tuuluamaliefh9743 yeah, it’s one of the best along with deadlifts and squats. do research tho and remember to love urself :D
This Is what i needed. I have trouble with my hamstrings or quads taking over some times. This was helpful 💚
K Bye thanks!!
Mineee tooo always feel it in quads.. and i do it properly... i just don’ t get it
@@tile2820 I know this is old but focus on contracting your glutes. You are always going to feel it in your quads to a degree.
This is just what I needed - I always used to move my head & felt the discomfort in my lower back the next day 🤦🏽♀️ keep chin to chest! 💪🏽 thanks Lucy! X
This was soo useful because I was wondering why I was feeling it more in my quads! Can’t wait to try it out X
Steph M ♥️♥️
There’s so much noise in the background it’s difficult to hear what she’s saying, but great video.
Latanya Ingram the gym was so loud unfortunately 😰
Yeah Lucy,I kinda agree..but I watched till the end because these are really golden rules and everyone needs them for their peach perfection. Maybe editing the background noise would help? I dont know how that works.
@@sameerasiddiqe4995 Thanks for watching 😃 my Mic went off half way through and I didn't know 😔
Oh dear :( I really appreciate all your hard work Lucy, keep them coming!!!!😍❤
You can activate the subtitles 😉
Sooo goood ! Please a deadlift version of this video
Stella Lalalalaa I will!!
Is another bell i can use for this excersise
Bruh ive been so upset lately because ive been feeling these in my quads so much. Ill try putting my feet out further tomorrow thanks!
I was becoming so irritated with the gym because I couldn’t hip thrust correctly, and I’ve watched plenty of videos trying to see what I’m doing wrong, and your video helped me the most !! Thank you 😍😍 #newsubscriber
Ahhhh this made me so happy I’m really glad it was helpful for you!! Xx
Great video! Just to let you know, the first two minutes I could only hear out of my left headphone. The rest of the audio after 2:29 was in both! Just a editing comment for next time!
The best explanation for Hip Thrust. Even in 2021, thank you!
Omg thank you so much! I felt so intimidated to go to the gym and get set up but this really helped me feel better, and answered all my questions.
Best video that helped me. Everyone’s videos are side view how can I see the feet angle by side view. You gave a good angle where I can see where my feet go. So thank you!
Man when I see every great hip thrust tutorial is by woman it makes me self conscious doing it in gym. The first time I trained my glutes it was spiritual experience 😂😂 why haven't I been doing it my entire life.
The best explanation i couldnt hear ever
I've watched so many of these videos but this is by far my favourite! MCS should make a barbell pad 😉
Thanks girl! ouuuuu we have one coming!!
I don’t agree that it’s the best glutes exercise but I really enjoyed the way you explained your tips. Any thing you’d change now several years later ? I do like the renaissance periodisation videos which have become the gold standard and they do have some extra pointers
I get bruises on my hips every week from these! I could easily go up in weight but it just hurts, even with the pad! Heeeelp!
Take a yoga mat, folded, and put that under the bar pad as well
Same here, I get all bruised after plus ots hard to get the best position and most of thr time i feel it targets my quads,I literally hate this exercise and focused more on squats, the results are way better
Thank you for this video- very detailed and precise 💯🙌🏼
4:57 wider stance 🙌
7:47 push back little on heels, toes naturally lift up
Well let's try your tips next time. Thank you. ♥️
This video helped so much!!! Thank you for explaining in so much detail
Hi! Love the video :D
You give several very useful tips that has already made my hip thrust better, so thank you very much for that!
I have yet to find a video, where someone has included explaining the bar path to me, because it seems there is a bit of an arc at the beginning of the movement, when we initiate the lift and after that I think it stays pretty vertical as we extend the hip, but I'm unsure if that is the correct bar path. If you can include it in a future video or perhaps comment on it, I'd greatly appreciate it! And thank you for all the great videos on technique etc. :)
Hope you have a good day!
Hello! If Im a beginner what weight should I start with and how often and how much should I increase?
Awesome video! I wish the sound was better.
Amazing video girl!! The only thing is it was quite hard to hear you :((( anyway where’s your barbell pad from because I NEED one ASAP xxxx❤️
I've just discovered your Instagram page & UA-cam channel, I've never done barbell hip thrusts as I'm still learning! So this is fantastic for me..especially showing incorrect form.
I can imagine it'll take me a few goes to get it right! I'll have to figure out the bench height as I'm only 5ft 3, so that'll be the challenging bit for me in getting it correct. 😊💛
Thanks girl so happy I can help you!!
Brilliant vid wondered why back and quads hurt more!!
Great vid, but hard to hear with all the background noise. 😐
myvoice31 I’m sorry it was so loud 😭😭
New subbie here!!! I have been trying to find a good explanation and you did it! My issue was definitely using the bench high
Thank you Queen 🤍
This made so much sense! Thank you 🙏🏾
Well that explains my back pain after doing this exercise. Oh my gosh...Thank you!
Thanks for your tips girl! You've great body by the way!
hip thrusts tend to hurt my knees :( do u have any tips for this?
Love all your content. Can you do some upper body work outs as well please. 😘
Alma Zamudio is course!!!
Very informative. Thank you! Now following you
I love this video and it's great tips, but can you do a voiceover next video. I could barely hear you due to the background noise of the gym. Anyways, thanks Soo much for the tips🖤🙏
You explained it nicely!
I can only hear this video in the left headphone :(
Me too :(
I just love her channel,
yea, subtitles are vastly underrated. Not everyone here is a native speaker and if takes a lot of concentration and effort to understand.
That's no fun.
Not to mention hearing impairments.
So if the audio is no good, just take the time to add subtitles. And if this is too much time and work, make sure the audio is good next time.
Thanks for the videos, Lucy, I don't mean to offend.
Lmao not me making this mistake at the gym rn 😩😂 I’m glad I’m watching this right now LMAOOO
I was scared my headphones broke
I just wanna thank u for uR advices it helps me a loooot thank u I'm gonna subscribe right now in uR channel
Love this video and all the tips I'm defo gna try this. But yeah it was hard to hear. Lots of love 💜💜
Thankyou xxx
great explanation!!
Thank you so much this is great :)
Yay so happy you liked it!
Great video
Great explanation, a near field mic would help a little with the sound, the gym music is equal to your voice.
Thanks
Is there a reason you hip thrust at end of the bench rather than turning it around so it supports your whole upper body?
Thank you sooooo much!! 😘
There not even involved anymore 😂❤❤
god bless you
Thank you!!
What kind of shoes are those ?!
I love the shoes please tell me where you got them !
Great video as well !!!
At 2:30 the volume went higher and my soul left my body I nearly dropped my phone 😂
I had my AirPods on
i seem to have a harder time if i dont use the pre weighted bars. the normal barbell that u add weight to seems to rock up and down when i am doing my hip thrusts like i have uneven weight on it when i actually dont. im try it with lighter weights to see how that goes.
Do you think I will get the same effect on a smith machine if I pull a bench over?
I use a Smith machine for the hip thrusts and it works really well - I prefer it being assisted in case it gets too difficult with the sore muscles eventually :)
I was doing it correctly 😂😂🤷🏼♀️ some at the gym told me to put my legs closer and I knew that was not right for the body part I want to work out.
I want to purchase a barbell w weights but idk which ones are good? What do u recommend for beginners?
I would highly suggest go for Olympic weights and barbells as opposed to standard weights. It's more money but way better investment in the long run. I wish I would've done it this way in the beginning, I would've saved more.
So do we touch the ground with our glutes after every rep or keep it slightly off the ground the whole time ?
What is a good starting point weight wise? How many sets?
I didn’t quite understand the foot positioning - you do turn your feet out?
Please re-record with a voiceover! So hard to hear! Also- the way you’re explaining the foot placement sounds right, but what you’re actually doing is different (you show a quad-dominant movement with the knees more forward as your “correct”, and your “hamstring-dominant” is actually vertical shin - take a look for yourself). No disrespect, you’re right on with your knowledge, but this video could use a re-do.
Can guys do hip thrusts?? Or is it strictly for girls
Of course guys can yes! Really great for glute development and strength 😀
@@LucyDavisFit I started doing them. They really hurt the old butt cheeks alright. 😆 I’m deffinity going to progressively over load them . 💪
I reckon they have really helped with my squat. New pd and I feel stronger. Boom. 🔥
There are no guy-only or girl-only exercises. You do whatever you feel like doing 😉
Just wanna ask, how much weight is that you’re using?
Can I use a plyobox for this excercise? A plyobox measuring 12x14x16
hi , when i tried doing this hip thrust, my lower back feels the tension , rather than the glutes. Am I doing something wrong here?
You probably don’t wake up your glutes properly. It’s important do do warm ups before (eg with a resistance band).
Maybe also you don’t squeeze your glutes. The goal is not only to shift your lower torso up but to imagine a rope from between your legs (weird comparison ik) up to the ceiling that pulls from there even further up. So once you’ve reached the top, rotate your hips slightly towards your face basically until you squeeze the glutes.
Also whatever object you’re leaning your upper back on to do your hip thrusts might most definitely be too high :)
thanks@@randomcomment7675
@@randomcomment7675 when I do it, my the back of my legs feel it more than my glutes. What am I doing wrong?
Hey Lucy, tips for always hip thrusting crooked ??? Please help
It's a Bunnay probably:(
Do one leg hip trusts 👍🏻
Hey you more than likely have a slight glute imbalance - Try ankle weight single leg reverse hypers - this is the best way to restore hypertrophy on the weaker side. But there might be an underlying reason why there is this imbalance - differences in hip mobility or ankle mobility or some prior injury that hasn’t had been rehabbed properly. x
Lucy Davis Fit I injured my sciatica a few months back... I feel like it may be this that is causing my hip thrust errors. Because before my injury, my hip thrusts were great !
Are hip thrust good for hip dips ..side booty growth? Please reply
The height is my biggest issue. At my gym the bench is too high, there’s no smaller boxes and the platform is always used. Why is this exercise so stressful
Impressive most impressive
if someone has a anterior pelvic tilt is it OK to do hip thrusters for glutes
Doesn’t the corner edge of the bench hurt your back ?
does the 18 inches apply if you're really tall? like 190cm (think that's like 6 foot 4) or would you need a taller bench
I’m doing 225 lbs but I can’t stop getting bruises, and I use a foam roller ☹️
try barbell pad! I am bringing some out soon!
Lucy Davis Fit I keep getting bruises with barbell pad too, I think I’m just going to use both the foam roller and barbell pad at the same time 😣
What about a sturdy sofa
I wish I could hear you!
Top💯
best explanation..beatiful girl...
What kinda bell can i use i dont think we have Bulgarians bell
Everyone teaches the same thing, but nobody gives a Hip thrust routine, how many times do you have to do a routine with motivation, music and energy that makes you want to do the exercise?
I have only just started doing this exercise, but instead of a barbell I have been using a core bag (mainly because I was introduced to this method in circuit training).
Do you get the same benefits or should I swap out the core bag for barbell?
where exactly to you place the bar.
Hi what height are you?
3:44
Lots of great advice but the background noise of the gym is rough. Worth watching anyway but I had to super focus and read your lips to fully.
I thought my right earbuds not working 🤣
So that’s why my back was killing me
I thot my right AirPod had stopped working for a second 😭😭
This video has good cues for safer Hip Thrusts, and it is explained well. But I have to say this execution still leaves room for improvement, it‘s really not „perfect“ - I‘m not trying to hate. There is much to say but in short there is still too much happening independently as far as hip rotation is concerned. Optimal hip extension isn‘t initiated (and also not ended) with this type of hip curl. The whole chain is just unstable/broken for a split second everytime you do that(beginning of the ascent and beginning of the descent). Not only would this excessive flexion be inadvisable for heavier weights( because that also will put accumulated stress on the lower back over time) , but also it simply isn‘t how to achieve maximum peak contraction. There is no good reason to willingly deviate from a functionally neutral pelvic position, because thats how the most stabilizers work best . And the more stable, the better you can make sure the weight targets the main mover.🍑
What is the name of the bar cover you use?
she says in another post that the name is a barbell pad
You are beatiful❤😘👍
Why do women spend 30 minutes at the barbell doing this? I saw a woman do 6 to 8 sets. Is it for a bigger butt?
Does she notice the noise in the background?
I can’t hear anything
good video but the sound and background noise were very annoying
You should use a Jacked Ass Belt. Much easier to get in and out of position without getting trapped under that bar.
I couldn’t hear anything :(
5 inches? I say 3 max for the platform
