Kathy had a great day on this episode. Thank you Wink for Concentration and do not worry about the people who do not like your channel because you are awesome man.
hi Wink, that's SO MUCH for uploading this!! I LOVE to watch Gameshows on TV, and I used to OCCOSIONALLY watch "Concentration" when I was younger and LOVED it. ;)
What an answer to prayer! I have been waiting for one of these for ages! Thank you so much, Wink, for these awesome episodes of "Concentration!" Praying for more! :)
I, too, would like to see much more. Perhaps the folks at BUZZR can get permission to run this series, say, on Sunday overnight in place of the "Blockbusters" hour, since that game has joined the morning lineup.
That must've been a few years ago tho...it's too bad NBC has such a stranglehold on the rights. I'd love to see either the Narz or Trebek versions see reruns. (I would've included the Downs/Clayton run but wasn't sure if they were still available, save a handful.)
James Greek Why does NBC have such a tight hold on these episodes? What could they possibly be doing with them instead of letting them rot in a vault somewhere?
BarrCode674 I would love to know that myself. I know that Concentration was originally produced by Jack Barry & Dan Enright, but since it was on during the time of the quiz show scandals, & both fellas were already involved with 2 shows that had been rigged (Twenty One and Tic Tac Dough), for some reason NBC acquired the rights to Concentration early in its original run. (Perhaps someone here knows why?) Concentration however was never rigged, so there's no reason that I can see for NBC to NOT let any eps be rerun. After all they reran Classic Concentration at one time, so why not let other networks lease the show in whatever form, and make a little money in the process? I've jokingly said that NBC might stand for "No Buying Concentration." Also, during the Narz run of this show, NBC always retained the rights to it. I would love to know how G-T was able to get ahold of it. At least that version gave the sets, the game, and the show overall a much needed "upgrade."
Lidsman2221 the only eps GSN would probably show (if they could) are the Trebek ones, since they no longer air any game shows from before 1980. Wish I could get Buzzr TV just to see what era shows they'll have.... (sigh)
To be fair, Concentration was never a big budget show. It was partly created as an antidote to all the big money quizzes of the 50s. Its long life proved that a game show could be exciting without huge prizes.
21:37 - 21:49 As Rod Roddy wisely once said at the end of "Hit Man," If you would like to be a contestant on this show..... FORGET IT!" Seriously, I'm sure you wouldn't really go out and do it since this show has been off the air since 1978.
All episodes of Concentration from 1973 on are still around (I assume). It's just that the Not-Buying-Concentration network still has the rights to the show and has not sold them at this time. Now I never cried after Concentration left the airways in 1979. You shouldn't hover a dark cloud over your head because GSN can't even buy them from NBC and that you haven't seen it in 35 years.
BUZZR got the rights to Classic Concentration and The Match Game Hollywood Squares Hour -- which I thought would NEVER happen, so maybe they can get this one too.

I always liked Jack Narz. He seems like such a nice guy. And such a terrific voice as well. Its too bad that the shows he hosted didn't last very long (Concentration did, but he came along near the end of its original run). I only recently found out that Tom Kennedy is his younger brother (his real name is Jim Narz). Tom's shows actually did much better than Jack's, which is testified by the fact the Tom Kennedy is far more well-known.
+Don Christopherson Back then, calculators were more of a luxury than they are now. Engineers and people in more technical-oriented careers were still using slide rules.
Consider the times. There was a recession going on in '74-'75 as well as rising inflation as well. So any little item in certain cases helped in a way. Plus, it was syndicated which usually means it didn't have a big budget to begin with.
what's the story with all the Goodson Todman game shows of the 70s always giving away those cheap throwaway Vega's? great show nevertheless thanks wink
Thank you for these classic game shows, Wink!

This is great! I also liked the Trebek version.
Thanks so much for these, Wink! They're a gold mine! :)

FINALLY I got to see a car win on this run of Concentration! I LOVE IT!

Finally, a car win! About time we had one among these.
Too bad it was a Vega. Those were such total pieces of crap.
And the appropriate cue for it at 8:50, too!
Great fun to see this! Thank you for sharing.
Excellent! Thanks Wink!!
In the NYC area, this aired on WNBC Ch 4. By its final season (1977-78) this aired on WOR Ch 9.
Ah yes! A first never seen on any of these YT postings of this version of Concentration!
Thanks for sharing this, Wink! I wish GSN would show all these old shows instead of the crap they show. I love all the shows that were before my time.
Maybe Buzzr TV? Also remember that NBC would not give up the rights to reruns even in GSN's heyday.

EXCELLENT Video quality
Channel Master still exist to this day, and they still sell (believe or not) television antennas!
jack narz was the best host of this
They REALLY didn't want her to win that second car.
She would have needed 10 minutes to solve that puzzle.
I know this was only a syndicated version of the show, but it's clear this show's budget wasn't very big. Oh well. At least there was Johnny Olson.
To be fair, Concentration was never a big budget show. It was partly created as an antidote to all the big money quizzes of the 50s. Its long life proved that a game show could be exciting without huge prizes.
Those trilons sound like they needed some WD-40.
Love those trilons---especially in the original NBC version, when sometimes they would jam.
Got it at 5:45. Oh, and ... Thanks, Wink!
I wish they would put out the contestants that won cars, my mom was on show around 1977/1978 and she won a green chevrolet
21:37 - 21:49 As Rod Roddy wisely once said at the end of "Hit Man," If you would like to be a contestant on this show..... FORGET IT!" Seriously, I'm sure you wouldn't really go out and do it since this show has been off the air since 1978.
Until buzzr pick the show up.
Looks like they were using one of the cars cues from The Price is Right.
Remember, same production company.
@@flashbaneyify Right! The Price Is Right used the Family Feud theme for cars.
WELL...FINALLY...A CAR WIN!
Hi,Wink! Anymore of this rare gem that possibly Buzzr could show?
Buzzr is going to be airing this version starting on March 30.
Five days before I was born
$25 was a cheap consolation prize, even by 1974 standards.
This show is now on Buzzr. Go watch it!

Kathe did excellent .😀👍
6430 Sunset Blvd. For what network that would be, even though it was done for national syndication?
That was where Goodson-Todman Productions was located, in the present-day CNN Building.
Hi Wink - Do you have all the episodes? I was on in 1976 and would like to see video of my episode.

DoubleMrE, also Jack Narz's first wife, Mary Lou Roemheld, was the sister of Bill Cullen's (third) wife Ann.
Jack's second wife Dolores "Doe" Vaichsner, was a longtime flight attendant for both TWA and American Airlines.
Don't forget Jack also hosted the first three seasons of Beat The Clock and Now You See It.
A calculator as a prize! HA!
+Don Christopherson Back then, calculators were more of a luxury than they are now. Engineers and people in more technical-oriented careers were still using slide rules.
And, back then, a basic calculator, like the app you can load onto your phone now, cost in excess of $100.
I think this was taped CBS television center.
This was taped at KTTV Los Angeles, aka Metromedia Square.
NBC owned the rights to Concentration. That said, where I grew up in the Ozarks, this aired on the CBS station out of Springfield, MO.
