Awesome ride. My Great grandparents were from Airolo. They left to come to America in the 1860's or '70's. I still have distant relatives there. One works at the museum near the entrance of the St Gotthard Tunnel.
Thank you 🙏 wow, who could have imagined that my making this video would result in a connection with yourself over in the states and the home of your great grandparents in the 19th century. This is UA-cam and the internet at is best! It really is a beautiful place and it’s hard to imagine why anyone would leave. I imagine it would be in search of a better life as despite its beauty, life would have been pretty hard at the time. Thanks very much for watching the video, leaving a comment and telling us about your ancestry 👍🏻
@@MerciaMoto The Missus and I have thought many times of signing up with a tour group for a European motorcycle tour. We just never did. Yessir, life had to be rough back in the 1800's over there. After he came to America, he used his butchering skills to great advantage and became a chef in the St Louis, Missouri hotel industry and did very well for himself. He passed in 1942 leaving a very good legacy. Thank you for your response to my comment. I just was totally impressed with the ride !!
@@tractorman4461 I love hearing stories about folks family history. Doing a European motorcycle tour sounds like a great idea, still one for you and the wife’s bucket list perhaps? 🤔
Morning Peter, I should call these videos ‘winter warmers’ 😁 videos like these do have a way of raising the spirits I think, which after all is what they’re for 😁👍🏻
Ah the promised snow has arrived Peter, time to batten down the hatches for a little while. Not a particularly scenic pass this one but some incredible civil engineering involved. I am in awe of the way that the Swiss are able to go through under, over and along the edge of just about every obstacle they encounter.
@@MerciaMoto Yes I've just walked home through it. Rather lovely really as I wore my motorcycling boots so it was like being out on the bike yet somehow not 🤣. The civil engineering on all of your rides has just been awe inspiring. It must have been so difficult returning home to an entirely different City landscape although you did then go off to Skye and mid Wales which are beautiful in their own way. More enveloping in a way - at least, mid Wales is. Skye is something else again.
Thanks bud and welcome to the party , chuck your keys in the bowl! Oops sorry wrong party! 😂😂😂 seriously thanks for checking out the video and leaving a comment, great to hear you enjoyed, it really is an incredible place, motorbike nirvana 👍🏻👍🏻

just made myself a cream coffee with a tod of whisky.. sod a film at Christmas Dave.. Just created a folder on my tubechannel. Named Mercia Moto. dropped this whole tour in it. Who needs a feel good film when there's this feel good Reality show :))💯❤🩹🤓
If you did Dave.. I would be one of those whose life is less because you were nt there to make the vlogs. The way the net is filling up with " INFLUENCERS" and yup that's a swear word in my books.. Its just such a relief to follow a genuine bloke who just likes to share.. Mind you. If you do get round to a thirty minute Swiss tour compilation. It goes in the folder for Christmas eve viewing. And the toddy of whisky of course. 💯 🙏 Keep safe Dave. 🎉🎉
