Your starter is sticking. It sounds like your timing chain is loose because of that. Also, if you could do the variocam pad replacement without dropping the engine, that would be very helpful for other people because there is no video like that.
+Anil I will be making one! Could you elaborate on what you are hearing/seeing to diagnose the started sticking? And hope that affects the timing chain? Thanks!!
@@HelpMeDIY I have the exact same sound (only on cold start up) and Im getting ready to change out 2 of 3 chain tensioners. Is that noise really starter? Please let me know.
@@HelpMeDIY Thanks, I did, but that is not the sound I have. Did your cam tensioners and starter replacement remove all cold start rattles? I just did a cam deviation test on mine and got bank 1 = 0 and bank 2= -12. Im pretty concerned about bank 2. showing no debris in oil and motor runs great?? any advice would be appreciated.
@@upwindadventures4358 Yes, the chain tensioners got rid of the chain rattle noise at start up. I'm guessing you need to replace your plastic guide rails if your cam deviation is that bad! I assume you've seen that video too? :)
i'm curious yet if the cams have to be locked in order to change the tensioners?
+Jeremey Kroh ahh… the burning question!

+Mikhael Catapang 😎
what was the value before the change ?
+Guillaume Blanc as I mentioned in the video, unfortunately I didn’t check the values before I changed the tensioners.
everything I've read said to read these values at operating temp. where did you see to read them while the engine is cold, out of curiosity?
+Evan Whisnant a friend told me to do it cold. But he also said to let it idle for 30 min, so essentially it’s covering cold and warm I guess.
