Emotions Can Be Used By God or Satan

An emotion is neither good nor bad. It can be used for either purpose depending on whether it is controlled by and used for God or Satan. It could be a self-centered emotion, or in service of others. Sadness, anger, shame, happiness can all be used by God or Satan. If we try to oversimplify by assuming all shame is bad, or all sorrow is good, Satan can sneak in by using sorrow to begin giving you a downtrodden spirit. Basically, he wants to pressure you and cause you distress. He wants to cause you to stumble and give up. He wants to wreck your marriage and relationships with your family. He will always try to deceive you through emotions. That is why you cannot just use rules. You have to be constantly aware of your own feelings. You have to bring them to God. You have to use your sense of observation and discernment.
The emotional pull is seen since the serpent used it on Eve. The serpent attempted to get Eve to follow her feelings, rather than obey God.
“So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.” Gen 3:6, ESV
Jesus used His emotions for God. “Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.” Isaiah 53:4 ESV
Open up to your emotions. Bring them to God. Learn to use them for Him.
