I love this whole album.I remember when my mom would get up before dawn and play this album giving god praise.And this stuck with me for years.Now i know why she use to listen to this.

I also have Willie Rogers singing the lead on the Checker label. As well as this version. All three can bring tears to your eyes. I know your Mom hasn't received any royalties but can you give her my most heart-felt thanks for writing such a wonderful song. This song has gotten me through so much. God had her write it just for me.

This song was written by Barbara Darleen Grant, and not Cruse. Check SARS Label # 103. It was on the 45 B side of Wade in the Water. I know this, because I am Barbara D. Grant-Haynes' daughter Jasmine Haynes-Cummings. Crume produced it, but didn't write it. My mother is still living, she's 79 years old, and hasn't received any royalties nor credit for this song. I grew up with the original version, and I also have a copy of the sheet music of it. Barbara Grant Haynes still resides in Chicago.
Eddie Huffman might not have been an especially polished lead singer but my soul soars when it hears Eddie's voice. RIP, my brother.
