Me: I've been playing this for a while though... what could possibly be bad about it Erek: Don't buy this game unless you like Dragon Quest games. Me: oh... ok
I love this remake. I'm playing it concurrently with the Game Boy Color version. Grinded up at the Tower of Transcendence, changed my party's classes and got me a Sage. I unlocked the ship and am looking forward to more adventure!
Most JRPGs have a story presentation and gameplay loop that iterates on Final Fantasy 4. Dragon Quest 3 is closer to old CRPGs like Bard's Tale and Wasteland. I rolled credits Sunday and love it.
Yep totally true. This is one big reason why I found this game super refreshing compared to a lot of JRPGs I've played this year. Genuinely enjoyed my experience with this one!
I'm almost done with the platinum trophy for this game and your list is spot on! I cannot recommend they game to everyone, but it is a very well built game for those who enjoy this genre
My first RPG or JRPG was the original Dragon Warrior (Quest) on the NES, my brother got it for free from a subscription to Nintendo Power (yes I'm old the NES came out 7 days after I turned 13 in '86). Now that first game is really bare bones, with very little story, and a heavy grind fest, but I loved it and it got me hooked on RPG's. I bought the trilogy when they first launched it on the Switch, and I preordered it on both xbox and switch. It's a decent game and I love the graphics of it. I'm looking forward to DQ 1 & 2 next year, as well as all the other awesome JRPG's over the next 12 months. You're review was more of a "don't buy this you might like it if you enjoy these things in a game" kind of review
This was a reverse psychology experiment here with the title. Had I have just done DQIII HD-2D review I doubt it would've done as well. But nice to add some intrigue to it sometimes. Great game and yeah looking forward to 1-2 as well!
Great review, Erek! I love DQ3 so much and this remake really enhanced an already awesome game. Great new character class, wonderful visuals, substantial QOL improvements that make a lot of the game easier, but retains the difficulty of the original late game (and post-game) bosses. i cant wait for DQ1-2!
Oh man I know right. Was wayyy too slow for me!! Ended up only using for a bit to get to the necessary parts and some of the grinding spots but otherwise I just used zoom to get everywhere.
I totally agree on the issue with the original battle scene shown on the initial trailer. To me, it looked better compared to what we got in the end, but it is what it is...
Haha .. it's no Octopath Traveler 2 story wise! Then again, I haven't finished it. I'm getting ready to hit B's Castle. It's a great mellow grind as ya go adventure. Gamer Comfort Food at it's best!
I finished the game before watching your video and don't mind any of those things. I even defeated the post credits boss, but he said 228 turns wasn't good enough. 😒
Yes this is great! I rolled credits around 30 hours. DQXI was 80+ for me which was fine because the story kept me hooked but definitely couldn’t imagine playing this for that long.
@@offtopic4279 if people want old school graphics we have dragon quest 1-3 on the switch . what you really are saying you want is a port of 1-3 too another platform i believe. i personally really like the dragon quest 3 remake as it brings dragon quest to people that would not other wise play the games . like me i would not have played dragon quest 3 if it were not for dragon quest 3 remake. also the remake did really well sales wise.if you really want 1-3 original buy a switch. also modern graphics for an old school game is a good thing not everything has to be old school graphics wene gamers have an option to play those games already.
except they are not "more in line with SNES era style"; in fact, they were criticised exactly for the opposite: being a port of the mobile versions, that have a very disliked style.
Ive been enjoying it. It has been my couch grind game. All the reasons you said not to buy is why I bought it 😊. Great video as always…see ya in the next one.
Totally understand that. I played on Steam Deck purely for convenience & footage capture but other versions run great and without any DRM most importantly!
The click bait was worth it for the dragon warrior chill guy 😂
Sounds like something a chill guy would say 😎
Me: I've been playing this for a while though... what could possibly be bad about it
Erek: Don't buy this game unless you like Dragon Quest games.
Me: oh... ok
😎
Looks like your profile pic twins, huh@ErekLadd 😂
Yeah they do this to get views likes subs that's why I pause the video and read comments

Nice!! Things are just getting good! Reminds me I need to check out the GBC version at some point as well.
You had me there at the beginning... LOL, great video Erek!
Pulled the ol' switcheroo on this one!! Love this game!!! Thanks David

Too late. I already beat it!
It was so good.

Definitely agree here. Great for JRPG fans new and old.

This was my first old school Dragon Quest game so I was really happy with what we got here. Beautiful and plays well! Stoked for 1-2 as well!
I wish the bird you used when you travel move faster than a hot air balloon. Lol
Oh man I know right. Was wayyy too slow for me!! Ended up only using for a bit to get to the necessary parts and some of the grinding spots but otherwise I just used zoom to get everywhere.
Just finished it. Loved it as much as I did 30+ years ago 😊
That’s great!!!!
I totally agree on the issue with the original battle scene shown on the initial trailer.

Once I saw that in the initial reveal trailer I loved it! I know it's such a small thing to get worked up over but man it just looked cool!
Sounds like fun to me, but with my backlog, I'll wait until they remove Denuvo and it goes on a deep sale.
Who knows when/if that will happen but here's hoping.
Don't buy Dragon Quest III?? ...Hah! Jokes on you, I already bought the game 🤪 ...great video Erek, much love from yours truly 🐻
But have you played it??? 🤔🐻
@ErekLadd 🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻
Hehe I see what you did there! 🎉🎉🎉
I can’t wait to play this!!!
You're going to love it!!
That was just a list of things to make me want to play a game 😂
Then it sounds like I have done my job!!! 😃
Gotta say, you’re becoming my go-to JRPG UA-camr. Love your content
Super nice comment - really appreciate that!!!
The game is 3 weeks old already. 90% of the sales are done. It's an amazing game that is well worth the money.
Absolutely well worth the money and time invested into playing it!
It's nice to see dragon quest 3 on pc. Saying that, I think you over played your statement. SNES g as jrpgs had no story. Lufia will stare you down.
Overall, a good review. It's honest to a degree. Do not like that thumbnail whatsoever! You should add "unless" to it.
Tried it but ended up being too many words for the space.
Haha .. it's no Octopath Traveler 2 story wise! Then again, I haven't finished it. I'm getting ready to hit B's Castle. It's a great mellow grind as ya go adventure. Gamer Comfort Food at it's best!
Gamer comfort food is a great way to describe this!!!
I finished the game before watching your video and don't mind any of those things. I even defeated the post credits boss, but he said 228 turns wasn't good enough. 😒
I feel you there - took me ages to beat him but wasn't good enough either :(
Great vid! I adore this game, and also agree with every point you made here.
Thanks dude! Love this game!
This games is fantastic and not terribly long like Dragon Quest XI is.
Yes this is great! I rolled credits around 30 hours. DQXI was 80+ for me which was fine because the story kept me hooked but definitely couldn’t imagine playing this for that long.
This video had an excellent reverse-psychological effect 😂❤ Thanks for the vid
Glad you got it!!!
It's also worth noting on Switch, there's the older DQ 1-3 remakes from a few years ago, more in line with SNES era style, and cheaper.
I don’t like the remakes. I would pay good money for original NES graphics with a few quality of life improvements, like the FF remasters.
Except I am loving this 2D-HD remake. I’m excited for the other ones. Just the that weird remake on the switch. I own them.
Aaand uglier then sin 😉

Before I watch it…unless you love classic jRPGs
Almost!
Welp, you make me click. The sprites kinda reminds of Suikoden, Im starting Sea Of Stars now maybe I will try this one next.
It's a very pretty game for sure. Definitely recommend checking this one out if you haven't. Hope you have fun with Sea Of Stars!
Such a massive click baiter!! BUT I forgive you because I love your videos!
Let's just say this was a reverse psychology experiment!!
Game was amazing simple as
100% yes!
Kind of a clickbait title, but ok.
This is how UA-cam works
Ive been enjoying it. It has been my couch grind game. All the reasons you said not to buy is why I bought it 😊.
Great video as always…see ya in the next one.
See? You get it! Yeah, it's been such a fun game to explore and grind. Something about the grind in this game is almost therapeutic 🤣
I definitely will buy it... when it's 30% off. Sixty bucks for a game like this is (to me) overpriced.
no as a matter of fact its a complete remake of the game that is not overpriced at all in my opinion.
I still highly recommend it at full price. The value for money here is good enough for me. I paid $89AUD and put 30 hours into it.
Nothing wrong to wait for a discount. 40 $ would be my sweet spot as well.
I'm not buying it bc the PC version has Denuvo installed.
Totally understand that. I played on Steam Deck purely for convenience & footage capture but other versions run great and without any DRM most importantly!
if you have a good pc denuvo should not be a problem at lest that is my experience.
@supersaiyaman11589 My PC can handle it. I just hate Denuvo & want it to go away, so I won't buy any game with Denuvo.
Click bait titles suck, easy unfollow
Clearly didn’t watch the video but thanks anyway 😊
DON'T BUY IT AT ALL! IT'S CENSORED FOR NO REASON.
If you're referring to the female warrior, her in-game sprite actually doesn't have the shorts and tanktop. Only her concept art has them.
Jebaited. GG on the vid.
🤣🤣🤣
