With EY I got an offer with 2.8 GPA , maybe because I am a cpa candidate and some experience however I do agree close to 3.0 is good.
CPA candidate with some experience?? Recruiters will think that is way sexier than GPA 4.0.
How????
Great information. I have a 3.8 GPA (Business degree), I’m starting my MBA soon and I will do my best to learn and excel. Go big or go home. Lol
What concentration are you thinking of doing? I am considering accounting or analytics mba concentration.
`not sure if this will help anyone, but i got 2 big 4 offers on 65 (credit average). I think the mark prevents you from being auto culled by the system and from then on, its your personality that gets you hired
If I just pass the CPA exam and get my 150 credit hours in before I apply for the job will my GPA in college even matter?
at least they're realistic with their standards.
In USA, apart from looking at GPA, do employers also consider which University the candidate comes from? Surely a 3.5 from Ivy league means something different to 3.5 from a much lesser well known university in the country right. In Australia here it doesn't matter which is ridiculous.
That’s accounting for you, for entry level jobs at the big 4 it won’t matter, you’ll absolutely end up on the top of the pile through, but others who went to less prestigious schools will be given just as much consideration. Your Ivy League degree will play a bigger role when it comes to getting into internships and entry level positions in more selective organizations like Goldman Sachs or McKinsey (though those roles won’t be accounting roles) as well being considered for elite MBA’s if you chose to pursue one. Public Accounting seems to value CPA license over everything else, but you coming from an elite institution will absolutely send the signal that you’re a star applicant that should be considered an asset.
Which GPA? Total overall, or just in accounting/business classes?
overall
Which ever is higher
Wtf, big 4 in my coutry list 3.5 minimum as their requirement.
Hi! I just wanted say thank you for all the interview help videos! I just graduated with an accounting degree. I only applied to local cpa firms (to get some experience) and got offers from all of them!
Can you make a video on transitioning from a local firm (public accounting) to a Big 4?
What are some of the best skills to add onto your resume?
great question, I will make a video on that
@@TheFinancialController thanks! Love your videos!
@@TheFinancialController when I am learning excel and CMA(USA) would that be enough or should I add financial modelling or some other course. I started doing this in the last year of my graduation.
