    I would recommend putting a brace to the ground on the hinged side of your gate as a farmer. It will sag eventually.

    • @morte2195
      @morte2195 3 місяці тому +34

      Yep, a little sag is inevitable, and with so little space between the gate and the posts, there will eventually be rub. A wheel supporting the gate near its end would also help things work longer.

      If you haven't thought of it get an I hook.Put it in the top of the post on the hinge side and Run a cable to about a third of the length off the gate.
      To hopefully.

    A lot of people don't know this but your posts will never be 'level'. The vertical is called 'plumb', the horizontal is called 'level'. Mixing the concrete in a wheel barrow would increase the strength 10x and finishing the top with a trowel would seal it from moisture penetration. It looks really nice though and the lights are terrific. The green paint is a good idea too.

    Something I did to my gate install that helps a lot with sag. Buy an extra hinge pin bolt and install it so the open tube of the gate on the away end can rest on the hinge pin when closed.
    With the gate closed mark the bottom of the gate tube on the post. The drill the hole below and adjacent to the mark. Screw in the hinge bolt with the pin facing up. Now when you close the gate set the gate on the pin and the whole gate is supported on both ends.

    Gate looks good. The posts you have look to be rough cut so they will be 6x6. The smooth finish posts are 5.75x5.75. I would also recommend on the sides of the gate put some fencing along the front of the property. Adding a man gate would be an option. The fencing would help keep people from walking around the gate as well. As others have mentioned many times a wheel on the bottom of the gate will help but you may have to move some glavel to keep it from lifting the gate up too much. Good work.

    It's amazing that people like "us" have to go through the expense of security measures. The human race may truly not be the most intelligent species around. I live in a "gated" community, but still have cameras, alarm, little friends, etc. When I first moved here I asked the management if these tools, were allowed, the response was yes, then, "but I don't know why you need it here." Didn't need the editorial, so later on trespassers went through peoples unlocked veh's taking what they could run away with. Amazingly, nothing happened around my house...

    Well within your rights Eric. Stay out is simple to understand if you have anything on the brain stem.

    It’s odd you would even cover this project. It shouldn’t have been content, but a surprise for those that showed up.

    Eric even if I lived next door to you. I wouldn't try to come to see you unless I got an invite first. That is just me.

    Seen a video faulty dipstick on Onan generator. Oil level is too high, causing it to shut down.
