My worst test was a discrete math teacher who created tests the night before, and told us she doesn't know how the test is gonna be formatted yet because "it's in her mind until the night before." Then we get the test, and some of her questions have misprints, and she told us, oh i made a mistake, just make sure when you get to that point to swap out, blah blah blah. Never take classes with new teachers when it's a must-have class.

I love the tips but don't think it's gonna work for my university. We get get asked lot of questions within 10-20 minutes

Yeah. It’s just based on averages. Some colleges don’t apply. However, I do have advice for those situations as well. If you give me a example of how your school is structured, I can give you some great tips. I’ve helped Andor been through pretty much every possible situation with students or myself if you can imagine over the past 15 years.

@@authorjond My university uses the typical USA 4.0 grading system, with 11 weeks of lectures. We usually get the PowerPoint slides right in the lecture halls, but there’s barely any time to really read them. I’m trying to cut down on note-taking since it’s so time-consuming, but I’m feeling a bit lost.

Yeah. I’ve seen that kind of structure before. It’s difficult to stay latched into it if you don’t already have a previous knowledge bank. Sometimes these professors treat these courses if you’ve already taken the course because they don’t remember what it’s like to learn it for the first time. in that situation, usually as long as you do all the homework and study really hard, you’ll pass, but I honestly think it’s a terrible way to explain information. However, on the other hand, it’s not different from what you have to deal with in the workforce and a research position. You’ll be getting blocks of information that you have no idea how to work with and you’ll be on a deadline to try to figure it out. dealing with stress is a component of getting a degree. That gets you a job in the stem field.
