    I just learned that sleep learning is an actual thing and the world suddenly makes sense. I would study for a couple minutes before bed then the next morning on the train I would recite to myself what I thought I remembered. It always checked out with my notes! I feel that there are rare people who stay up day and night studying because they truly love what they are studying and are obsessed with some aspect about it. It just comes naturally to them to study like that. Some of those people become experts in their field and I think it is intuitive for outsiders looking in to mimic their behavior but not realize how natural it is for that person and not so much for others.

    • @athena7244
      @athena7244 2 роки тому +12

      I'm one of those because the part of the topic i'm really interested in is not included in the lesson and my classmates get annoyed whenever i ask too much questions so i just study on my own about it and it takes up sooo muuch time.
      So worth it tho.

    • @violetblue1251

      I think people that "look naturally" are shaped from habit. Which means people that mimic can look natural too if they put the effort as same as their role model.

      This is true for me. I have spent whole days immersing myself on a subject I like but when I try to do it in another that I don’t, I feel like I’m in a prison. If I like a subject, there is less friction for me to start learning, I have a personal desire to explore, and the act of studying is rewarding in itself. Even if I don’t have a strict study habit/schedule, I frequently learn about that subject whenever I can, kind of like a hobby. I don’t have to “officially” sit down and study.

      I’m one of these people (except for being an expert, definitely not an expert) I find things on my own outside of school to study for fun. Making my own study guides or PowerPoints
      When I’m in school I really enjoy it all. I’m sure it’s similar to how basketball players feel when they get out onto the court.
      I’m training myself to do it for topics I don’t like as much. That’s the difficult part 👉👉

    It took me years to learn the best study techniques for myself, but I’m so glad that I have. I sit in the very front of the class and I write down as many notes as possible. I also record lectures at times. One thing that helps me study is that I like to highlight all the important stuff in textbooks/notes, but then I’ll retype them in a word document in my own words. I do this because it helps me review the material while also allowing me to translate all the info into a format that will be easy for me to remember.
    I’m also a member of your honor society!! I was inducted last year ☺️

    An interesting point for those with ADHD and other learning disorders: I learn best by positive reinforcement, so when I study I always keep a few of my favorite snacks on hand as a reward for when I finish a section/reading. As long as I keep myself accountable, this has been extremely beneficial to my studying.

    *Procrastination was my biggest enemy when I was at university.*
    I'd procrastinate till the very last minute and then I'd type a 10-page paper in one night. That made my time at uni really stressful.
    It's slightly easier to get tasks done these days, for example for my UA-cam channel.
    I've learned the reason behind my procrastination. It's mostly the lack of self belief.
    Sometimes just sitting down and working on the task for 5min makes all the difference, because those 5 minutes very often turn into hours.

    When I was in school, I never needed to take notes, I only did it because it was an obligation, but I aced all my exams and ended up within the highest grades all the time. But then I got into university and learned that only listening wasn't helping much, and taking notes didn't either. Later I discovered that investigating, reading papers and other works about what was being taught in class was the right path for me. I sometimes struggle with procrastinating, but I would say I don't suffer anymore with studying!

      @@marloy1535 My main issue is that I don't process or remember visual information accurately or fast, and when I read long lines, it feels like words move from one line to another. To overcome this, I had to give myself extra work:
      - tweak the format of documents I receive so the content fits in 2 columns rather be on long lines from the left to the right margin of the page;
      - try to understand the rationale, ground and logic behind the laws. Otherwise it was impossible for me to memorise them. This helped me have a deep understanding of the law and make pertinent analyses in the long run. This is still helpful to this day;
      - redraft my notes in bullet points and use colour codes. The redrafting helped me memorise and the bullet points helped me not get lost in words. I'm using bullet points right now. I can't live without.
      - today as a practising attorney, I use a software system that reads out loud documents and emails (I often miss out prepositions when I draft) before I send them. That's still a lot of work, but I'm proud to say that I have been delivering quality work, maybe because everything is so challenging, I have to be extra thorough and extra careful.

    I greatly appreciate how you begin with identifying the primary learning channel. Having followed many tips that are often not suited to my needs as an audio-visual learner, I realise now that identifying my primary learning channel is very crucial. Thank you so much 🙏😊

Throughout this video you've made, I manage to gain all of the knowledge and tips on how to study smarter, not harder. After watching this, I am confident that I'll be able to do well for my upcoming freshman year. All thanks to you. ❤️

    Thank you so much for this video! It boosted my motivation to study before my tests next week 😊
    And also made me realize that some methods that I use are not the best for me! For example, I like do write my professor's explanations on my book, but today I tried your idea of writing on the computer, and worked so good for me! ❤ I could catch a lote more of what they were saying!

    My strategy is I get the syllabus of the subject/course and I do advance studying. What I do is just reading textbooks and comprehend it carefully and I identify the concept of that particular information or the main idea of a certain paragraph. I read the lessons twice. In the second reading, it's just a review. Even I read 20 pages long during my review session in just a single round, I don't get bothered that I might forgot the the material I studied because I just believe in myself that I understand the whole lesson. You don't need to study for so long, or just don't overdo things. Time spent on studying has no correlation on chances of higher exam/quiz scores. Accept also that you are an imperfect human, don't expect to much about getting perfect score. The most important thing that happens is that you've learned something.

    • @filipinobi-cat4543
      @filipinobi-cat4543 2 роки тому

      And of course have an interest to your course or love what you do because that's what motivates you to study.
