I've owned 1 '63 and 3 '64's with 283's, one sat for 35 years, started and runs great, another sat for probably as long and started and ran great too. Hard to beat that era of small block Chevy. An original 327 would be worth rebuilding. IMO the world doesn't need another classic with an LS. Keep at it, you'll be glad you did.
An old-timer friend demonstrated to me how to free up a seized engine without damage. With the spark plugs still in and valve covers on fill the entire engine with 3 parts diesel to1 part ATF mixture. Pour into crankcase and intake. It finds every dry cavity. It will take twice the amount of fluid the engine requires so mix enough. You'll see fluid remain in the intake when full. The next day, drain all the fluid and remove the spark plugs before turning the crank. It will work most of the time unless the rotating assembly is mechanically broken. PS Yes, some will run out of the exhaust but it settles out and works overnight. I've cut the exhaust pipe off on most of these attempts.
I got a 1/4 plate that has the balancer bolt pattern in it I use to break engines loose. I threaded and then welded a big bolt in the center. You bolt the plate up tight then you can apply a lot more pressure with a long breaker bar. Use quick back and forth motion. And yeah you might have to let it soak a week or so. New Subscriber.

Hey buddy I just ran across your videos! It’s 1:00 in the morning & I’m still watching your videos!! I wanted to try & give you some advice on how to get your motor unstuck!! See if you can find a big spray can of aerokroil it’s in a orange can!! I usually by it by the case threw the company that actually makes it!! The only other place I have seen it is at scheels gun cleaning supplies at there store!! They are smaller cans & that is why I buy it on line!! Spray some of that in each cylinder for at least two to three days & just let it sit!! If you look threw some of there literature that they have you will definitely be amazed!!! I have also put the stuff on exhaust manifold bolts that the heads were rusted off so bad that the size socket I had to use was two or three times smaller & I have been able to get every one out without anything else including not using heat!! The stuff will definitely work but you do have to give it some time so it can soak down threw all the threads!! Every exhaust manifold bolt I have ever need to get out this stuff has worked plus all the motors that I have had locked up that I have gotten I have definitely been able to get freed up also!! Someone just had to let soak a little longer then others but I guarantee you that it will work as long as nothing is broken inside that motor!! Trust me you will definitely thank me later after you try the stuff out!! Why does power plants, ethanol plants, & even the big tire factory like Firestone tire & titan tire use the stuff every day!! That’s because they no the stuff actually works & saves them money on repairs in there factories!! Good luck buddy but I definitely hope you get this message & try it out & let me no what you think of the stuff!!’

@@JoshWatson lmao thats no comparison, you can just get rejected by one at a bar and move on to the next with women tho, but not old cars! women are plentiful, old cars are not XD
old timers trick is atf and deisel mix, our it down the throat of the carb as well as into the cylinders, heat up the block if possible, and if all else fails to free it up pull the intake and heads. chances are the rings are frozen to the cylinder walls but it ll free up in time..
It's not a 'will it run' it's how much Marvel Mystery Oil can this old Chevy take!! What is the oil like, any water in it? Are you pulling the heads or the motor??
Never do a ls swap on a classic its wasten a good classic car......for chevy id have to say the 327 or the W head 409s......but im a pontiac guy so my go to is always the pontiac 389s.....
You are giving up too quickly. A constant tension on the crankshaft will do far more than jerking it a few times. Try some acetone in the cylinders. Maybe pull the heads and see if you can get it to turn over. Maybe you have to clean the rust out of the cylinder to get it to run. So what if it burns oils, knocks and smokes? That quite honestly would be great content for your channel. As far as a favourite engine it’s an undeniable fact that the inline 6 is the best engine every made, regardless of manufacturer. There is a reason every company has made at least 1. From racing in Mercedes and Jaguars and Toyota’s to powering 99% of the tractor trailer units in the world today the inline 6 has proven itself time and time again. But in an old car or truck I like the Ferrari Killers, whether a 289 Windsor or a 390 FE or any displacement of those engine works for me as they’re great engines that go like hell.

Try using A tourche bar tool using very little momenum on it. pushing it back& fourth both ways. until it break free from side to side it will work to. If it has oil on the top of the rockers.& push rods& lifters it will break free.,lose for ya'll then try it.& see if it does after letting that marvel mystery oil sit down in those cylinders.& add some transmission fluid to that also it'll pop loose with faith of A mustard seed. You never know what can happen in life.
Never heard of that tool
Keep trying don't quit
Good first try. Now lets pull the heads to see what the story is.
I think thats the plan next!
BTW Love the selection of music 🎶🎶
Thanks man
Hi just started watching your videos and I’m enjoying them. But not much on listening to the music . I will continue watching because that’s just my opinion. Thanks
👌👌
I’d give that Marvel mystery oil about a week and if a week doesn’t do it give it a month.
Yup gona give it another go when it warms up
460 ford the best in my experience
No way
Please never use a two post lift like that. Its very dangerous only lifting with 2 arms
We only had it on the front and it was on the frame. We were okay, not our first rodeo. But yes i agree they can be very dangerous on these cars if not done right
Hey buddy I just ran across your videos!
Lol thanks man! 1am? Go to bed! 🤣
I should've gone to the bar tonight. Because I just deadass watched two guys try to score with a girl and fail in this video. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Could've seen that at the bar, rather than youtube.
Lmao how the hell do those 2 things even compare
@@IowaClassicCars Because two young guys just failed to score and succeed in this youtube video. 🤣🤣🤣
@@JoshWatson lmao thats no comparison, you can just get rejected by one at a bar and move on to the next with women tho, but not old cars! women are plentiful, old cars are not XD
Try to start it anyway just to see
old timers trick is atf and deisel mix, our it down the throat of the carb as well as into the cylinders, heat up the block if possible, and if all else fails to free it up pull the intake and heads. chances are the rings are frozen to the cylinder walls but it ll free up in time..
I hope itll free up!
It's not a 'will it run' it's how much Marvel Mystery Oil can this old Chevy take!! What is the oil like, any water in it? Are you pulling the heads or the motor??
No water in the oil and this spring we will probably open the motor up!
Give it more time, they don't all free up over night. Some people will put a bar on the crank and put some weight on it and let it sit.
Yep if my buddy didnt need his shop stall back we coulda given it more time!
Next time use transmission fluid in the cylinders to loosen them up.
IS THAT AN SS 327? BECAUSE IT HAS A 4BBL.....300HP turbo fire? BTW Im a Mopar/AMC/BOP guy..hehe
Nah just a standard non ss lol
Let it sit a couple if days
You didn't wait long enough and use acetone and tranny fluid too ,also dump it down the intake work that motor both ways and don't give up so easily.
He will next time because he got rid of the '64 Impala a long time ago.
Are you interested in trading the 64 imp for a 65 imp?
Sorry buddy but the 64 is going to my friend in Nebraska this spring!
@@IowaClassicCars how about the 61 impala?lol
Just took a deposit on that last night! Lol
Just needs a refresh and shes good to go... no sense in making it perfect.
Absolutely!
What part of Lowe are you in. I was married in Spencer ia,.
Im over by des moines!
How does a guy get hold of you if he has a car you might want
Email is best! Iowaclassiccars@gmail.com
Never do a ls swap on a classic its wasten a good classic car......for chevy id have to say the 327 or the W head 409s......but im a pontiac guy so my go to is always the pontiac 389s.....
I like the old stuff but i understand why people do the new swaps
Prey on it both ways you gave up to soon, don't be a quiter
Yank those heads!
This spring! Lol
Not giving up, but had to get the car out of my buddies shop so we only had limited time inside
